This mod is super cool and thanks for the effort you put into it, will give it a try someday! A single player trial or full game eg without the Ai mistakes and maybe? longer than 64 turns could be super cool too. Nice summary video also !!
Thanks! It took a lot of community work to get it in a balanced state. If you want to play let us know! But otherwise, we'll keep tinkering and keep the spirit of the game alive :)
Hilariously I had trouble finding footage of me doing militia spam! Once you improve there are usually better, more practive options. But it's a good safe build that gives you flexibility into the mid game
Great question! Tbh multiplayer videos tend not to do as well. I used to post a bunch in the past (streams and videos), but right now I'm try harding with the channel, so focusing on stuff that gets views. th-cam.com/video/wyUL3r3Uofs/w-d-xo.html Here's an example of a video
I wonder how you made a lot of these modding rules. I've tried modding extensively but there are a bunch of things I've never been able to do Like how do you make defensive bombard more powerful without making normal bombard more powerful?
Good question! Turning up the rate of fire increases bombard without increasing defensive bombard. Vice versa if you turn it down. But in multiplayer, defensive bombard triggers multiple times. In Single player the max damage it can do is "1". So multiplayer has more options
@suedeciviii7142 Wait, is this just like a natural thing in multiplayer? It's just something that comes with multiplayer, or did you mod it to be that way?
@Tealdragon204 its simply how multiplayer works, due to some bug the more players there are the more times the def bombard fires. As an examle of how that effects games, in normal haves, 2 longbowmen are a better defence then 2 swiss mercanarys.
if you were to play this singleplayer against AI, are they able to actually put up a fight? what difficulty should you set them on if you're experienced.
They probably couldn’t do anything even on Sid iirc. Ai really struggles with just like worker moves in this point in the game. They’ll start dropping radar towers with their first workers and walking their settler like 6 tiles to plant a crappy 2nd city. Also the land is nice enough that if you play the mod as it’s balanced (for accelerated production) then you should be able to do everything they would be able to do, as in they grow every turn, you can grow every turn, they get unit per turn, you get unit per turn etc… also the game is only set to play for 64 turns so there’s that also.
Yes, they would. I can make a single player scenario if there's interest. The AI is not as good at Modern as it is at regular Civ 3. Like, it will instantly plop down radar towers with its starting workers. I'd say play your usual difficulty or one up if it's your first time with the mod.
@@suedeciviii7142 couldnt you just go into the editor and uncheck the ability for workers to make radar towers? or make a separate worker unit for the AI they spawn with that has it unchecked so at least their first few workers dont get consumed.
@@Cygnus__X1 Yes, absolutely. If there is sustained interest in a single player option for modern (either as a standalone game or a training mod) I could polish it off :) But somethings you could fix. Like, you couldn't teach the ai to airdrop settlers hahah
Role play wise? Unorganized militias or rebels They're enabled to stop players from greeding too aggressively. So you even if you're all alone, you can't plant cities completely naked. We don't want players kings dying to barbs, so humans get a 1000% bonus against them.
I thought Civ 3 was janky until I tried Civ 6 last week. Comparatively, Civ 3 is a breeze. But it's a testament to the fact that if players are organized and dedicated enough, they can make it work
That Kylanater guy sure looks good...
In all seriousness though, if I could play any one game for the rest of my life, civ 3 multi-player modern would be it. More people should play!
Nice nice, great vid, now lets see a tier list for all the units!
In modern?

Maybe I need to get back into Modern, but that means I need to learn to play something that isn’t Order…
Bring in that grand strategy brain to our game!

Militia per turn hurts my head
Why are Modern mod multiplayer games never streamed or recorded and shared? Or am I missing something? I'd love to watch some with explanations 🎉
