I was there for Jim Thome's 600th. I'm a Tiger fan and I didn't know he was at 598 going into the game
It has to be said that Jim Thome's name here seems like an anomaly to those with little more than a casual relationship to baseball. Yet here he is...
Ruth
Aaron
Mays
Bonds
Sosa
Rodriguez
Griffey
Pujols
...and Thome
Without a doubt, Thome is the most underrated player in this club.
Baseball is weird that way.
How wonderful it is...
and never tested positive.
As a Cleveland fan, I am thrilled for him
Also holds the record for most walk-off home runs …… 13
He's 56th all time in position player WAR. If he wasn't a below average defender, he would probably be around 40th. Most people probably wouldn't guess he was that elite. Not a great defender, also his career started a bit slow, didn't have his first full year until his fifth.
Only six members of the 600 home run club -- three roidies.
It's hard to believe that a major-leaguer, ANY major-leaguer, trotted around the bases 600 times in his career. It's an unreal number.
Even crazier are the 4* absolute legends who have done it *700* times.
Such an enjoyable video
A-Rods swing is such a balanced piece of art. It just looked so effortless. Always loved this highlight of his
最初です、というものはあるとしてもあります。また。またとのが?
会社帰りしますねとも!しかし価格で、こんなとき、また
I feel the same about Griffey's swing.
Bonds was better
PED cheater 👎
It’s like the 600 goal mark for the NHL, once all the 80’s guys started retiring you realize how hard of a mark it actually is.
80’s guys? You mean “steroid users”.
@@Texasguy316 80’s NHLers used steroids?
@@mpaulm no they just smoked darts on the bench and ripped lines
And in baseball, once you take the performance enhancing drugs away you realize the same thing. Any record broken in recent history is suspect, and those found to have used drugs to gain an edge should have an asterisk put next to their names in the stat book.
Pretty safe to say, 600 will not be reached again, or at least for a very VERY long time. A player would have to start very young, and play until his early/mid 40s, and produce every season. 500 Homers sounds a lot easier, and we may not see that for a long time.
Just like another pitcher reaching 300 wins
Stanton will get to 500, unless he gets hurt. But after him, I don't know who can get there. Maybe Trout, but maybe not.
Aaron Judge
@@jeffstrosmchats7259no he won’t
@@jeffstrosmchats7259 Aaron Judge is 32 and has 289 home runs. He probably will make it, but no PEDs also means shorter careers. Athletes have had their talent very suddenly desert them. Not so rare in baseball. Look around in Baseball Reference or some other stat archive. You'll see. Some have lost it as early as their late 20s and having their last prime year at 32 is not rare at all. Maybe legal supplementation could help too, but my impression is, careers have been shorter since the PED crackdown.
I was at the ARoD 600th Home run and yeah it was cool being there for that
Thome so underrated many do t rember he hit 5 let alone 600
????
Griffey did it WITHOUT STROIDS!!!
Mmmmmmaybe
Definitely with out steroids
Who cares if he did or didn’t ? Get over it !
people like to think all parks were packed back in the day.
Players I admired, Hammerin Hank, Say Hey and Griffey, both #24, Albert and of course Jim Thome. Players I had no respect for, ARod and Sosa. I think Willie's 600th is still in the empty seats somewhere, lol!
Watching this begs the question...how many MLB pitchers have pitched 600 home runs?
3 Dominicans in that very elite short list. Wow!! 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
Why no video of Babe Ruth’s #600?
The cameraman forget to take the cap off the lens. Sorry about that. Seriously, their probably is film somewhere but it's a lot of work to look it up. It's the internet. Don't expect much.
it was amazing how aaron bond hit 600 and more. how many home runs did have sammy corck hit with cheater bat?
Not to mention the roid boys
@@stellaspoochpitfeaturingro3522 i agree
No Ruth video?
they probably didn't have any in 1930's.
Thome did not do steroids either clean player
Crazy that 3 of the players on this list will probably never be in the HOF.
Crazier that they pumped steroids knowing it was cheating.
Again the freaking strips!
I'm pretty sure Pujols was alive during the Video Era.
Who’s Arron bonds? 🤨I know who Barry bonds is but just curious who Arron bonds is
Roids , roids , roids, muscle, roids, muscle
Zack Hample should be included
世界の王を忘れないでくれ。 日本のリーグで868本を打ってるぞ。
No Pujols?
hi
@0:55 HGH included.
*600 homeruns
Mays and Aaron played in the greenies era. They’re tainted too
@@TL2354 Hank Aaron only tried greenies once, and said he didn’t even like them. He’s clean in my book
It must feel good to make history by hitting 600 plus home runs in your career because that is very hard to do. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017 to find me.
The REAL 600 home run club: Ruth,Mays,Aaron, and Griffey Jr.no one else deserves to be included period.
Jim Thome was clean, what are you saying
Ah yes the steroid era ... I miss it
What.no.babe.ruth😢
You mean Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds, right. Who the f is Aaron Bonds? LOL - and where are the rest of the 600 club members?
Where the video of the Bambino?, he didn't use steroids. He fueled up on hot dogs and beer!
It was 1931 when he hit number 600. Only the rich owned a tv at that time so a lot of games probably weren't recorded on video. There's probably a radio broadcast of it available somewhere though.
Two of these guys (Bonds and Sosa) are Steroid City so they don’t count on my list.
I guess Thome was clean - The HOF voters thought so.
I presume Griffey JR was clean. Never heard anything about him and he remained consistently rather
normal-looking compared to the likes of Bonds and McGwire.
A-Rod clearly did some but I’m guessing he’s going to get a pass or enough of one as compared
To Bonds and Clemens (and even they have one last shot at being voted in by the writers next year).
I’m presuming Pujols is clean (steroid-wise that is -He may well have lied about his age) because
I presume MLB has gotten better with testing and he’d be someone you’d have to test.
Ruth, Aaron and Mays all played in that now storybook time when steroids were not an option -
Like John Houseman used to say in that advertisement “They (had to) earn it!”
Steroids were around since like the 1940's, just not as easily available. Although I don't think it's very likely, in theory Aaron and Mays could have been using. Speed was definitely a big thing during their careers. While not as much of a performance enhancer as steroids, it is still considered a PED since it increases energy and reaction time.
I've heard that Arod was introduced to and became quite close with Canseco before he even made the majors. I think he's the dirtiest of the bunch. It's likely he was using since he started, possibly Sosa too. At least with Bonds it's pretty much accepted that he didn't start using til the late 90's after McGwire and Sosa both demolished Maris' record.
Mays and Mantle admitted they used amphetamines and Pud Galvin was drinking monkey testosterone in the 1890's. Whitey Ford admitted to doctoring the ball most his career and a bunch of other cheaters are in the hall. So all that "purity of the game" crap is exactly what that is - crap.
@@marcoslaureano5562 When i try to think about how monkey testosterone would've been obtained in the 1890's i can't help but think something inappropriate was done to a monkey then good ol' Pud (that's is an awesome name, btw) had drink something disgusting.
I see no photographs where Mantle, Ruth, Aaron, Mays, etc look physically bizarre like
Bonds or McGwire.
I grew up as a 13 year old kid watching Pujols burst into the league with the Cards in 2001. People forget or dont know that he actually skipped both AA and AAA ball and went straight from A to MLB. Ironically, it was McGwire who was not clean, that encouraged La Russa to have Pujols start with us opening day.
That first year was so incredible that a lot of us thought it was a freak year. But then he continued to put up the same production for 9 more years until he left after 2011.
Lied about his age? I don't actually know enough about that to formulate an opinion. But, there has never been a doubt in my mind that he has been clean player his whole career, as well as one of the most prodigiously talented hitters ever. Anyone who says or thinks otherwise is wrong.
I dont know if he'll get to 700 home runs, my guess would be about 5 short. But decades from now, he will be regarded as one of the greatest athletes that ever lived. The same stories that my late grandpa told me about Stan Musial as a child, I will be able to tell my grandkids about Pujols.
Never forget the one who did it first: the Babe
I'm not sure which of these players used roids, but they are not eligible for accolades, prizes or the Hall Of Fame if they did. I know Barry Bonds never would admit it. He is just a punk...😊
Every single one of these players hit a home run for their 600th home run. Think about that 🤯
Anyone else fast-forward through Bonds, Sosa, and Rodriguez?
The cheaters club
God you people are dorks.
Everyone did it during bonds time he was just too good bonds is the goat
@@kingsavagebruh147yeah the goat of steroids
No
Bonds was a steroid user.
So, Babe Ruth, Hank Aron, Willie Mays, and a bunch of cheaters.
Man idk about Griffey. Just me personally, but I think that was raw talent.
Bonds is the goat
Rrrrrroooooiiiiiiiiidddddssssss
With a Jacked body....nope to dope
Bonds cheated, he's a punk. Those that cheated and admitted to it later, so be it, no accolades, but I forgive you. If you aren't willing to admit your mistakes, then you can go kick rocks...😊
@Tomtanker57 Bonds never failed a steroid test.
Not one.
Unlike Papi A-Rod, Manny, Palmeiro, and a cast of thousands.
Take that however you may.
You mean home roid club!!!!
