Hitting 4 homers in one game has been accomplished 18 times in Major League history (including the 6 players shown in this vid) --- among those not shown here, were Hall of Famers *_Lou Gehrig, Gil Hodges, Willie Mays and Mike Schmidt._* A truly herculean feat. It's truly amazing to think that none of the top 5 all-time home run leaders *_(Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Albert Pujols and Alex Rodriguez)_* ever managed to accomplish that.
10 random observations and factoids on four ding-dong games in MLB history: 1. Accomplished fewer times (18) than Official Perfect Games (24), but more frequently than unassisted triple plays (15). 2. The first player to ever do it was Bobby Lowe in 1894 for the Boston Beaneaters (Braves). The first AL player was Lou Gehrig in 1932, which was also the first time in both the 20th century, and the World Series era. 4. Six times in the Junior Circuit, 12 in the Senior Circuit. JD Martinez in 2017 became the only player to do it west of the Mississippi River (at Chavez Revine). 5. Six of the 18 players to do it are Hall of Famers (Gehrig, Delahanty, Chuck Klein, Gil Hodges, Willie Mays, Mike Schmidt). 6. Team that has done it the most: Filly Fanatics (3). Franchises surrendering the most four-bomb games? Not Yet Las Vegas Athletics, Tomahawk Choppers, Trolleydodgers, Red Legs, and Bodymore Murderlanders all have had it done to them twice. 7. Lefties: 6, Righties: 11. Hard-Hittin' Mark Whiten is the only switch-hitter to accomplish it (and the only St. Louis Cardinals player. Only two players have done it in a losing effort: Delahanty (1896), and Atlanta's Bob Horner in 1986. Oldest and youngest player to do it? Philadephia Phillies' Chuck Klein and Chicago White Sox' Pat Seery who were 31.277 and 25.123 respectively. 8. 6x by 1B, 5x by RF, 3x by CF, 2x by LF, 1x 2B and 3B. No DH, SS or C, and obviously no pitcher has ever done it (meaning, they were playing those positions the night they did it). 9. There were 47,401 days between the first time this was done on 5/30/1894 and present day (as of 4/1/2024). This happens on average every 2,633 days, or every 7.20 years. The longest drought ever was between Delahanty's on 7/13/1896 and Gehrig's on 6/3/1932, which was 13,108 days, or 35.887 years. The current drought is 2,401 days, or 6.57 years. The shortest span between events? 21 days between Mike Cameron on 5/2/2002 and Shawn Green on 5/23/2002. 10. Only five men have accomplished it during home games (13 on the road). This is incredibly difficult to do as it almost always means a player has to do it in eight innings (since you should be winning, and therefore bottom of the ninth is simply canceled). Bobby Lowe, Hodges, Horner and Scooter Gennett are the only NLers to do it at home. In the AL? Only Toronto's Carlos Delgado was at home.
Man, Josh Hamilton was an inch away from the 5 in a game record. Had that ball went over instead of bouncing off for a double, he'd have had it. SOOOOOO close.
Alright Peeps come on lay off the pirates. It’s bad enough we have the second worst record in the national league. Archer is garbage as a pitcher but cmon he already did a video on Archer being a hypocrite just take it easy why r u pushing him to make that video?
The crazy thing about Cameron was he got a chance in the 7th and got plunked and in the 9th he laid off a 3-0 grooved fastball because you don't swing at a 3-0 during a blowout. On the 3-2 count he took it to the warning track
Mariners clearly destroyed the White Sox in that game by the end of the first inning. That's how you know your team sucks. Wish the current Mariners were just as successful as that era's. Hopefully the rebuild will help.
They were yes. Going into this we were not expecting to do that great. I think a rebuild is what we actually needed and having the Mariners admit it makes it official. Should had been done a long time ago.

So cool to see true fans of the game applauding an opposing player for their efforts. Standing and cheering even if their team is losing.👍😃👏
The best part is listening to how excited the announcers are after three when you know what's coming next.

5:49 damn that was just a great hit right off the bat there it was gone in seconds 👏😌
The fact that this video is 14 minutes long is insane because 4 home run games are so rare
“Unbelievable”
“Can you believe it”
His swing is so smooth. I love it
Lol was Elvis Andrus on base for all of those 2 run shots from Hamilton? Imagine that
yes isn't it cool?!, i've always thought it was noteworthy
I watched Gennett hit the slam on live TV, decided the Reds were good for now, and went swimming. Worst decision I ever made
That’s what you get for prioritizing your health 😮
So cool that you showed josh Hamilton’s almost 5 home runs by showing that double
Mike Cameron almost had 5 that game, too... fly out to the warning track.

Whitten: Hits four dingers against reds
Gennett: Hits four dingers against cards
Hmmmm
There was a nearly 30 year gap too... One of Whitten's was off of Rob Dibble.
The crazy thing about Cameron was he got a chance in the 7th and got plunked and in the 9th he laid off a 3-0 grooved fastball because you don't swing at a 3-0 during a blowout. On the 3-2 count he took it to the warning track
Hamilton became close to being the first person to hit 5 in a game
Not as close as Mike Cameron.
Gotta love the white sox fans cheering for mike cameron and the orioles fans cheering for josh hamilton.

Yeetman97 Actually that’s not the record. Roger Clemens got 22 strikeouts in one game. He holds the record, currently.
2:49 10-0 in the TOP of the 1st Inning
The reds camo uniforms look weird, they should make the helmets camo also. Like how the Padres got there’s.

Mike could’ve hit like 6 dear god that was total domination
Could you do players bat flipping fly outs or get thrown out at second cause they thought a ball off the wall was a homer?
Has anyone ever hit a grand slam, a three run home run, a two run home run and a solo home run in a game???
