    I'd like to hear about what help the interviewer is offering the subjects after the interview is over. Interviewing children for a monetized TH-cam channel seems somewhat perverse if no actual help is offered. Plus the topic of these interviews are often the abuse which happened to the subjects in the past. Is this interviewer qualified as a mental heath provider? Or is the can of worms of the subjects past being opened for pure entertainment value... again, this is a monetized channel.

    • @SoftWhiteUnderbelly
      @SoftWhiteUnderbelly  3 ปีที่แล้ว +938

      In these cases the interviewees are offered free housing, rehab, therapy and job training or a high school education. We set up an appointment for the interviewee to move forward with the help offered (if they agree to it). The problem has been the interviewees rarely show up for those appointments. Even when we give them a second chance they seem to find some excuse why they couldn’t make it. Short of forcing them, it seems difficult for them to accept the offered help. Please watch my videos on helping with Monika from the Patrick Cady Foundation. They’re very insightful on the reality of helping.

      @@SoftWhiteUnderbelly thank you for clarifying. I work in a system that deals with children and any issue related to a child's protection (or at least the minimization of the damage to a child) is a concern to me. I do love your interviews, especially those interviews involving people who have found success. It would be great to see a behind the scenes video of some subject interviews,, so a more complete frame of reference of the interaction could be observed. Most of your subjects are compelling.

      I think
      @Soft White Underbelly is being a bit modest here. Despite having 2mil subscribers (and growing!) he is not raking in the money. While this channel is monetized, I am quite sure Mark has mentioned that many of his video's get de-monetized due to the content. Over and above the help that is offered Mark helps many of interviewees with cash, clothing, food and tents etc. He puts his life on the line, been robbed at gun point, perhaps more than once now? It can be viewed as exploitive I get that, I personally find a lot of value in bringing the unseen to light.

      It is not a privilege. It just means your parents did what they where suppose to. And that is, have you, raise you, take care of you, and help you be the best adult you can be. And by your response, bless your parents, it sounds like you appreciate everything they have done for you. Like most of the stories that are shared in this platform they are a dominoe affect from past generations & it is hard to break that chain. This young lady seams like we just failed her as a society. She still has a soul that can be saved. The streets have not eaten away at her self worth. She comes across as a genuine gentle human that just wants peace & safety. It is going to take an army for her to fully trust anyone anymore. Prayers to her. 😇🙏

I have also spent my fair share of time in mental hospitals, “wilderness camps” (aka a place to send off troubled youth), in counselors offices, taking too many medications, and in treatment centers. I know better than most how deep issues go. None of that means she doesn’t deserve a family who cares about her, a home and bed to call her own and people who are willing to do the work to try to help her find happiness and peace in life. Why would you try to turn what I said into something negative? There’s absolutely no need for that..

      I think the problem isn’t splitting up, it’s disappearing. You can have a wonderful childhood if your parents get divorced but they both stay in the picture and want to be with you and raise you. The problem is that a lot of these people parents just go and get an abusive bf/gf, one of them doesn’t care about them, etc etc

    I was a homeless street kid. No one is more vulnerable than a teenage girl. Everyday she is out there she is getting more abuse and trauma. Men are truly evil with homeless teenage girls. I wish they would force her into a group home. She would resent it, but she needs to be kept safe. The longer she spends there, the harder it will be for her to live a normal life. Get yourself to a safe place Maddie, you deserve better than the street. It feels exciting now, but it will just harm you. There are better ways to feel alive and free than living on the street. Take the help that's available, get an education and reach for your dreams. You could become a youth worker and make sure what happened to you ever happens to another young person. You could become the hero of your own story rather than the victim. I did that. You can too. Imagine how many people you could help. Love yourself girl, demand more if life than abuse, and I promise you, you will find something better.

      @yubtypin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      My wife and I fostered kids for one year. It isnt easy. Its 13 per day per child. Our responsibility to feed, and help them any way possible. We had strict income amd housing qualifications to become foster parents as well as background and credit checks. Most if not all that we knew who fostered are pretty well off and do it out of sympathy. Also to correct Brittany you keep getting paid after adopting. Something else to consider is that some kids in the system have behavioral problems from their neglect. Typical methods of discipline are prohibited. I remember one boy got a nose bleed and smeared it all over the floor in anger. Another yelled in anger constantly. Most kids only stay a month or two and the parents get them back. They are almost always in need of health and dental care so its a lot of trips to the docs, and shopping for clothes (your responsibility btw). It takes way too much patience for most people to foster. We ended up pregnant and now have 2 daughters of our own but we remember that year very well.

      I am no expert however I can speak to this. If he reports her to any authority she will be returned to her legally adopted parents, or put into another foster home or some kind of halfway house. All this child has known is abuse. My BFF was in her shoes. Exactly. I tried to help her get away from her legally adopted Dad raping her. She had been in bad foster himes and her own Bio Dad a horrendous Alcoholic beat her senseless over and over. She stayed where she was Better the Devil you know. And endured the Rapes preferring school, food in the frig and no beatings. I suspect shelters would take issue with her age. Mark has already given over $150,000 to people to get them into rehab, into school, into shelter, into jobs. He is only one man and an Artist at that. Money a significant amount could rent her a motel room for a year, a bus pass, food pantry card and enrolled in GED class.Maybe into a Big Brother or Big Sister mentor thing.

    I volunteered at a food pantry for several years, and children just like Maddie passed through everyday. I began to feel like what I was doing was so insignificant. My home is too small to foster children and I can’t move. There are restrictions that are very limiting, yet we hear so many horror stories about these foster families. How do they get approval????? It’s insane.

Not many goes through the system without lifelong open wounds. Not often talked about or confronted as opposed to the states.

    This is a broken child and you can look at her and tell that her whole life has been hell. This is just one child out of millions that the system has failed. I know states claim that they don’t have enough funds to do a better job at protecting these children so we in the communities need to step up. If you see or hear of any child abuse please do something about it.
