Thank you for the wonderful videos! As a frequent traveler to CH for 50 years, I love the SBB, the Swiss scenery and the warm emotions it brings to me. With Covid and the inability to travel, this takes on a huge importance as we grasp and relive our memories of a much better and happier time!
Greetings from a train person here in Melbourne Australia I think your Cab rides in Switzerland are absolutely amazing specially when you use the three cameras in the winter run once again absolutely marvellous keep up the good work and keep them running yours Jeff Evans Melbourne Australia

Thank you for this video. It brought back memories of a trip on that route two years ago. I also travelled from Zurich to Lugano and Basel to Zurich. It's a beautiful country.

I've just noticed, after watching a few of these videos again, that trains heading north and trains heading south both go through Rotkreuz in the same direction don't they. We're going from north to south and we go through Rotkreuz heading west, and so do trains heading north from Arth Goldau towards Brugg.
The station in Rotkreuz is actually laid out East-West, and yes, you can go to Zürich in both directions: to the East via Zug (which is the same direction as Arth-Goldau and the Gotthard, that line crosses above on the viaduct), and to the West via the Freiamt, direction Lenzburg (which splits on the right side to the North when this train continues to Luzern). This way is actually not so much longer due to the higher speeds allowed and is used as an alternative route when there is a problem in or around the single track tunnels between Baar and Horgen Oberdorf. These trains then go non-stop from Zürich HB to Arth-Goldau.
Indeed, not as busy as other lines (if you want to see what busy means, I recommend the Cab Ride with the S3 service from Zurich to Aarau), but still busy enough and a potential failure point.
Yes, the old Zimmerbergtunnel is a bottleneck, together with the neighboring Albistunnel. It is planned to prolong the Zimmerberg Base Tunnel further from Thalwil to Litti (close to Baar), so all traffic from and to Gotthard and Lucerne would be on double track sections with higher speed limits. The following file is on german, but you may use a translator... company.sbb.ch/content/dam/sbb/de/pdf/sbb-konzern/ueber-die-sbb/projekte/Grossprojekte/Bahn_2030/170914_STEP-AS-2030-35_Ausbau-Thalwil-Zug_Factsheet_V6.pdf
We left Zug a little late, too. But there is a bit of a buffer between Zug and Lucerne, which does help. It only works when the train from the opposite direction leaves on time, since the route after Ebikon (around 35:00) is a single track section. And to be exact: We arrived two minutes late, but everything under 3 minutes is considered on time.
I know your comment was meant as a joke, but still: Braking and tractive force is very limited in these conditions, which requires skill and a very different driving style to master these weather conditions. We don't derail or skid away, like a car would, but it's definitely easier in dry conditions! ;-)
I enjoyed the ride and glad I brought my umbrella along. At least the sun came out towards the end of the ride. Thanks for taking me with you.
Love Trains and rain , so this video was perfect!.
OZZY, Crazy train, needs much more rain, but nice....
Wie immer - eine herrliche Strecke. Die Schweiz ist ein wunderbares Bahnland. Danke für die ausführlichen Untertitel mit Erläuterungen.

Vielen Dank für das tolle Video.Echt klasse
wow! very nice.
Amazing ❤️
danke für das tolle Video. Wäre es möglich Lok und Zug jeweils kurz bildlich vorzustellen? Vielleicht mit einem link zu einem baugleichen Zug

Great videos - interesting to see a stretch of singled track on what is probably a very busy line (Zurich-Lucerne)
Indeed, not as busy as other lines (if you want to see what busy means, I recommend the Cab Ride with the S3 service from Zurich to Aarau), but still busy enough and a potential failure point.
Railway Emotions Isn't this the line that goes to Milan via Gotthard Base Tunnel?
@@samanli-tw3id Correct
Those long single track tunnels must be a bit of a bottleneck. I suppose it would be very expensive to widen or double it, though.

AndreiTupolev I think those tunnels were built as single-track because of geographical reasons.
@@samanli-tw3id When they were built, there was not so much traffic, and indeed, the geography makes it expensive to double it!
ein cooles video
Very interesting lighting in that weather. I assume you managed to stay on time as there was a long station stop in Zug?
We left Zug a little late, too. But there is a bit of a buffer between Zug and Lucerne, which does help. 710 Tonnen. Das sind viele Waggons am Zug.
Ha ha I hope the train dont hidro plain with all the water on the railroad tracks.

We don't derail or skid away, like a car would, but it's definitely easier in dry conditions! ;-)
what kind of speeds was the train hitting? looks about 140km/h?
In the tunnel at the start of the video 160, the rest is anything between 70 and 140.
The engineer steers the train quite skillfully, always stays on the track
We're doing our best ;-)
9:09 the disappearing ghost train 🚂 👻
1:49 makro?!?
710t sind "schwer"?
Für einen Personenzug eher im oberen Drittel, es geht aber noch schwerer.
