Hi there, my friend has a wood lathe that has a Headstock and tailstock #1 morse taper. I need to do a small job on something that has an MT2 tail...I was wondering if there is such a thing as an adapter that would go from MT1 to MT2? Thanks!
The item you're looking for is called an extension socket. It's different than a sleeve, which will adapt a MT2 lathe to Mt1 tooling. If you go to Amazon and search "Morse Taper Extension Socket MT1 to MT2" you'll see several examples. However, the best deal I found was a seller on Etsy. Here's the link: www.etsy.com/listing/253992349/proops-mt-2-to-mt-1-morse-taper-adaptor?gpla=1&gao=1&&:pla-295462056907_c__253992349&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI59jbpJ-i4QIV5h-tBh371Aa2EAQYBSABEgJ8tfD_BwE. You can tell it's the one you want because they're twice as long as the tapered portion of the tools. Hope this helps.
I don't think you can go from # 1 to # 2 taper there is a adapter from # 2 to #1 = craft supplies USA the wood turners catalog =1287 east 1120 south Provo Utah 84606 # 1-800-551-8876. wwwwoodturnerscatalog.com they will send you a catalog if they don't have it , then go to a machine shop an have it made good luck
Nice idea, thanks for sharing. I’m a new turner. Just turned my first segmented bowl yesterday. Had same problem but I sanded it down
Excellent, a neat solution.
