Tip from pro segmenter, use tightbond thick and quick, it dries fast and clear and will not run like other yellow glue.

I don't know, but I don't call this simple,🤔 for you this may be a beginner level, but I have rewound the video a few times to understand it.
And whether you should use the ring with the triangles up or down depends on the rest of the design you are going to use it in. Cheers, Hans

My self... I'd make a long strip then cut it to size. Much easier glue up.
There is always another way to do things in woodworking. If that works better for you, that's the way you should do it. I enjoy doing it this way. Thanks for your input!

Just watched the video. You sand the edges of the halves. I customized my wedgie sled with longer bolts on the saw side. I remove the two angled fences then put the 1/2 ring on the sled with a fence on top to hold it. Use a colored marker on the ends and sneak up with the blade until the ends are flat. Only removing a fraction to get them to meet. I tried sanding but ended up rounding the ends so went to that method.

That's a brilliant idea, Vic! I have done that in the past on a tablesaw sled but I think using the Wedgie Sled is a much better idea. As I made bigger and bigger over 20 inches in diameter segmented turnings I experienced the same issues of accuracy you struggled with . I bought a Noblex miter saw from Sweden , accurate to 2 arc seconds of angle , a bit fidelity to get everything setup perfectly , but once you have it dialed in the milling of your feedstock is the only differential error your going to experience. It’s so tight you just can rub the joint and not clamp it if you use PVA glue!

Is it a cabinet model? I have a Grizzly cabinet model with a 3hp and it is smooth but sounds like a freight train compared to yours. Something I bought used at a garage sale to replace my 1950 Craftsman that I could have made milk shakes on LOL. Well it wasn't all that bad.
Yes, it’s a cabinet model. 3HP with a 52” rip capacity. I LOVE this tablesaw!! I worked for KMS Tools (Red Deer) for two years before retiring because they let their employees buy tools at cost. I really wanted that tablesaw! LOL!
Gord, I think that series on segmented turning is the very best on You-Tube. It is the one I used to turn my first feature ring segmented bowl.

Now that would be a feature ring, Danny! LOL! I assume you’re referring to the hose clamps or what are known as gear clamps when you asked about the round thing used for glueing. Right?? Thanks for watching!!
Towards the end of the video. The thing the two halves are glued.
Are you referring to the turntable or carousel? I have a video called Lathe-Driven Variable Speed Turntable that would explain what I originally built it for. It’s also very handy for glueing rings as I can rotate it to bring the segments around instead of trying to walk around the ring. If that’s not it give me the time that it shows up. Sorry, Danny, maybe I’m just being confused.
@@GordonRock1 it’s most likely the turntable. It was definitely useful when you were gluing the two halves together. You aren’t confused, I just have a difficult time explaining myself sometimes. Thanks for being such an inspiration.

I've only recently gotten interested in wood turning (other than a lamp I made in high school in 1965) and segmented turning in particular. And I've just discovered your channel ! Oh My do you have an enormous amount of content.....I've watched a couple and gotta say along with so many other comments - your videos and explanations are just excellent !
One question, your' stop blocks on the table saw, are these homemade or bought ? They appear to slide in the channel and adjust easily. Could you shed a little light on how you made them or where you may have bought ?! Very much appreciated.
Oh...math, dang this is gonna be my potential downfall, although in one video you said the miter gauge was at 90 degrees and turning it to 30 gave you a 60 degree angle. My brain said OH, 90 - 30 = 60. So maybe I'll survive after all.
Thank you for the kind words, Dan. Yes, the stop block used on the tablesaw is homemade. The runner that fits in the channel was cut slightly oversize on the tablesaw and then I used my drum sander to fine-tune it so that it fit perfectly. If you would like a better explanation of how I built it let me know and I will make a short video explaining it. There certainly are a lot of videos if you want to watch them all although some of the very old ones are not very good quality. I was learning how to create videos as I was doing it. @@GordonRock1 - Yes indeed ! Making a video of how you made the stop block would be really helpful ! I belong to a community wood shop, they have great tools but not alot of jigs, and this could be a great addition. I recently discovered they have the Rockler Cross Cut Sled. I used it to make very accurate segment pieces, but it would have benefited with your stop block ! Thanks very much
