  • The Volkswagen Virtus GT has been our default choice when it comes to a sedan this side of Rs 20 lakh because of that punchy 1.5 TSI, rapid-fire DSG and those tight driving dynamics. But with Hyundai stepping it up with the 2023 Verna in every single dimension? Is there a new sedan king in the market? Find out as Karan and ummm... Karan takes the two out for a drive!

      Also a request for a video for the future is to present the PD army on which car does each team member at PD drive and why did they pick that specific Car? This content would make one heck of a video!!

      @@sandeeproyal923 hi sandeep i’m so sorry i missed this reply! I’d pick the Verna honestly and live with the fact that the Virtus just looks a who lot better and deal with a less engaging driving experience. In terms of an affordable car I’d pick, I’m a big fan of the Bolero Neo, i20 N Line, maybe even the Thar and man there’s so many more, i really just love cars 🤣🤣
      sadly tho i currently don’t own a car, i do ride a KTM 390 Duke tho but for sure that will make for an interesting podcast

      For the sensible souls who see a car as a Swiss Army knife on wheels, the Verna is like that trusty gadget that has a tool for every twist and turn of life's highways and byways. It's the vehicular equivalent of a multi-purpose balm, soothing the budget-conscious, family-first driver in India's bustling cities and arrow-straight roads. Meanwhile, the Virtus is the flashy sports car in a tuxedo at a casual brunch - it's dashing, it's daring, but perhaps a tad too dressy for the daily drive-thru. So, if you're part of the 90%, hop into the Verna; it's the automotive equivalent of a wise old owl in a world of peacocks.

      Well it’s too early for judging verna as it doesn’t have any safety ratings. But the bonut is super heavy tank build unlike other hyundai cars. Don’t trust me, go and check for sure. Interior quality is way superior in hyundai. Specially the airconditioner is amazing.
      Overall I can bet Verna will get at least 4 star rating. Let’s wait and watch.
      Also wireless android auto will come with upcoming software update. Note that this Verna is not been launched anywhere else. It will launch soon in North America as Hyundai Accent 2023.

    • @varunsubramaniam
      @varunsubramaniam ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@autobots3772 Again bro it is useless to point the heaviness of the bonet, as there is a mandate in crash test to test the pedestrian head on collision with the bonnet. Plz check the new Octavia s bonnet, it will flex if we press it, that doesn’t mean they are weak, it has to be designed in such a way for the safety of the pedestrians. Still almost all the auto reviewers talking about the heaviness of the bonnet. FYI, if you have checked the solidity of a BMW during 2004 to 2010, they will be felt like a tank. Currently if you check the BMW , they don’t feel such solidity. This doesn’t mean that current generation cars are not safe compared, to previous generations. Now the technology is totally different.

    The term value for money is not for Hyundai in my opinion,
    If VW does a design they do it to get it right,
    The difference can be felt in each and every critical component from brake, sheetmetal thickness used in chassis to make a robust structure, brake calibration, the start stop function works so brilliantly that even you accidently stop the car by putting higher gear at lower speed the car automatically starts back once you press the clutch.
    The problem is quality, calibration and feeling of safety cannot be kept on the brochure for Virtus, where as Hyundai cut cost where people don't realise and they just go by the feature list.
    The people who understand the value of quality and safety will go for VW.

      Have you ever of DSG failures in VW/Skoda? The poor sales is because of the non-reliability of the DSG system and not because of customers' lack of understanding regarding safety and quality.

      Good that you brought this topic up👍
      Yes several owners had issues with the DQ200 gearbox and in India particularly VW used to import these gearboxs and dealers were reluctant to replace the part which failed in the gearbox. Customers were asked to get the whole gearbox replaced, that was expensive. VW had learnt their lesson and they have understood the root cause of technical and service problems and the Current gen DSG has no such issue.
      You can ask me how you do I know about this.
      I as an unbiased engineer had an opportunity to interact and understand from one of the key person who was a part root cause analysis team for DQ200.

    • @fallenjedi17
      @fallenjedi17 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rajasekhar9840 As somebody who had his VW Polo breakdown three times in 8 years, I'd take anything that VW/Skoda say with a truck load of salt. Moreover, they have not claimed that they have fixed the issue. They are claiming that they have "increased" the reliability of the DQ200 which is not the same as "fixing" the issues with the gearbox. And finally as an engineer myself who has worked with Mahindra, specifically with the mHawk engine, for over a decade and as an ethusiast, I can tell you that the dry clutch DQ200 issues cannot be completely fixed as the flaws are with the design itself and because of our harsh weather in summers. I love VW cars and they are a driver's dream but they also are an owner's nightmare. Cheers!

    With all the problems that Virtus's & Slavia's are facing in terms of internal fit and finish, rattling noise, AC issues, brake noise issues, it only makes more sense to go with the Verna. With Virtus & Slavia, you have a 50/50 chance of getting a good car. Like a lottery. You can either be really lucky or really unlucky. No middle ground.

    You guys need to understand that Hyundai has no problems in making a stiffened up car with a much better steering feel. I’m talking about their N-Line cars like the i20 N-Line. Which has better driving dynamics than the VW Polo (proved by car reviewers etc) (but the Polo is still faster though) all i wanna say is, the Verna’s only flaw in my opinion is the soft suspension and the lack of steering feedback. And I’m pretty sure Hyundai is gonna come up with an N-Line Verna to solve all of that. This Verna is just so much more comfortable than the Virtus. So within a few months Hyundai will be offering you both, comfort or driving dynamics.

    • @aryamans9459
      @aryamans9459 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      my friend the polo is more than a decade old at this point and has been discontinued. The fact that it took latest gen i20 nline and 10 yrs of time for hyundai to match the league of polo proves how much superior VW is. And virtus is the newest entry to the lineup when it comes to driving dynamics it is leagues ahead of hyundai. Even if there's a verna nline it wouldn't be close to virtus. Also the only nline cars that are actually great are the international models. Nline in India is more of a gimmick than anything else.

    • @varunsubramaniam
      @varunsubramaniam ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then about Safety bro… If you had driven a VW or Skoda, you might known the breaks in Germans are far more superior than Hyundai, though they have all wheel disc brakes. Safety comes first how good we can control the car, and these Germans are still years ahead of Hyundai.

      @@aryamans9459 YOU CANNOT EVEN COMPARE THE VIRTUS WITH THE POLO MAN!! The Virus’ interior doesn’t have that feel of the polo even though its a decade old now… the Virtus’ interior just feels cheap to be very honest. Driving dynamics i’d definitely give it to the Virtus no questions asked. But when you’re spending 20 plus lakhs for a car, don’t you want that plush feeling when you sit inside? That the Virtus is missing.. and surprisingly the Polo and the Vento had that feeling even though they were so old. This is my only complain with the Virtus. The platform the structure the safety all great, but the feel good factor, the plushness is missing. Also we don’t know how the Verna will perform in the Global N Cap, the tables might really turn around if it scores well

    • @varunsubramaniam
      @varunsubramaniam ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@prathameshrivonkar7215 Yes bro, hope they improved, the problem with Hyundai is they don’t use good quality steels. yeah volkswagen cars are safe, but hyundai cars(mostly elder cars and this verna too) are actually strongly built, my own grand i10 (2014 model) feels very sturdy and the metals used are pretty thick and heavy. And most of car enthusiasts know tht this verna is reliable in terms of safety, if you remember verna got into an accident with a high speed, and heavy bullet with two chumtiy riders.. the verna albeit the front part partially damaged had its engine started with no problems at all. So verna may be not as strong as Volkwagen Virtus but not very weak compared to it too.
