I'm running two 253 amp Alternators charging at 14.5 to 14.9 volts. 2/0 ofc charging 3 AGM platinum batteries from O'Reilly I'm running two T1500.1 Rockford fosgate power series amps they clamped 3759 watts turned down a bit and gain matched. the birthsheets show 1938 watts rms I would like to see the voltage stay on the 14s full tilt. Now it can drop to 12.9
LOVE my Xs Power Supercap :) Huge difference. Stabilizes the shit out of my voltage, and makes an obvious difference with dynamic range (kick drums and other fast bass notes).
Great video! But what you also need to know is that when your capasitor bank is going low on voltage it will draw power from alternator and battery to get itself up to his normal storage!!! So when you burp it takes a moment to store that voltage again! At this moment your amplifier does not get the voltage and amps it want!!!!

From my experience XS Superbank and caps work perfectly well with Xs power Lto lithium I'm running a superbank under the hood with a bank of caps with 80 ah of Lto lithium in the trunk just make sure you have a high output alt that charges at 14.8+ the Lto acts just like the caps because of their high discharge and fast charging capabilities plus they have reserve energy great video thanks

Love where capacitor tech is going these days, however I still refrain from using them, as they have to be put in series to obtain 12-16V. This technically requires balancing circuity to protect an individual cap from excessive voltage due to differences in leakages, esp as they age. Many applications I see, do not have such balancing. There are companies working on mosfet controlled solutions for this... But I end up leaning to adding extra batteries and bigger alts.

Sadly, so many no longer use caps- they just go with a big XS battery, a Big3 kit, a secondary battery and H.O. Mechman. I believe in capacitors, though. Some car audio manufacturers, (like Rockfird Corp.) Still use them, in their demo vehicles.

Yeah when he was talking about the old school caps, I think they're called electrolytic caps. Yeah I spoke with a rep from a well-known supplier/manufacturer in China who frequents CES every year and when I inquired on a bulk order of caps(electrolytic NOT ultracaps) I noticed that the capacitance ratings were all 1/10th of what's advertised on the market when I asked why that was she told me that there are very few true 1 farad caps (Rockford fosgate is the only one I know of) . Most are .1 of what's advertised(1 farad is REALLY 100k μ Farad [.1 Farad]) She said it's to 'keep the market competitive'... Now the question is, is that reasonably fair for these companies to do this? Or is it just down right fraud or deceptive business practices? You tell me, but there's arguments on both sides...
You would be better off upgrading to a beast of a alternator. Those banks aren't cheap and in my opinion are for very specific applications. Too answer your question one would need more information. What size alternator do you have? What size batteries do you have? What is your intended use for the caps? If you do not have the current to keep your batteries supplied then a cap is only going to help for a short time then you are back to just sucking the current from your batteries. Like I said before, they are expensive and in my opinion play no role in a daily driver audio setup. A high output alternator is cheaper and a better option unless one had a very specific purpose for using a super cap bank.

Technically it should take 3500 of those big 1 farad caps to be the same as these XS power supcaps. Imagine 3500 rockford fosgate caps in the back of your car hahaha. Rockford and NVX were really the only ones that made a true 1 farad cap but even NVX said straight out they are useless. I dont know though, I work with electric motors and a 70 microfarad cap can start a large 3horsepower compressor on single phase. If i seen a 1 farad cap in the trade it would have close to 200,000 watts going through it

Most AGM’s don’t last more than 1,000 cycles and that’s stretching it, so the super caps actually would last about 1,000 times longer than AGM’s. 1,000,000 divided by 50 is 20,000 cycles which would be more like Lithium Titanate which is the only type battery that lasts 20,000 life cycles. I just felt like you were giving the AGM’s way more credit than deserved saying they last 20,000 cycles lol

titan8 uses lishen lto so you can run them with agm or if your car is pcm regulated to 13.8v and i believe limitless cyber 6k is a lifepo4 lithium. the yinlongs are great if your car is not pcm regulated to 13.8v

I'm going to test a "Mad dog" cap. I bought one and it's chillin' in the box it came in. I'll test the time it holds a charge. Marine batteries are best if you have any parasitic draw. They are led acid, but have twice the plates and full of acid rather than half full like a standard battery. I'm not comparing them with AGM. I haven't used them. These batteries are used in RVs in banks of 6 usually. Two in the engine compartment, and 4 to 6 in a storage compartment. Those are designed to be drained and trickle charged and a parasitic draw.

The way you explain it caps are useless in a daily driver. They are for burps only. Unless they charge back up in less than a second they are useless for car audio.
You are correct that is the way he explained it. BUT, he did NOT explain ultra caps fully. He failed to mention that ultra caps charge as fast as they discharge. So in ultra caps ARE in fact useful in a daily driver. The ultra caps will charge between bass beats. Now if you are playing extended test tones then the ultra caps will become less efficient. But with normal music they work perfect. Look at ultra caps as a buffer to keep your voltage as high and smooth (level) as possible. Your amps will thank you.

This info (balancing & stuff) is for lithium, not ultra caps.
I work on radio towers and we use big ass ones, that are pushing 120,000Amps

How big of a bank is recommended for a daily 7k setup? With a underhood agm battery and a battery in the back

Actually the one's advertised as 1 Farad but are REALLY 100k μ Farad, it would take 5,000 to equal one 500 farad bank of ultracaps...
