    Hi Graham, I've watched a few your videos and have to agree with you. I've owned mine since 2012, initially put quite a lot of miles on it and used it a lot, then had children and lack of use meant I fell out of love with it. However during lockdown, I was able to do a lot of online searches for aftermarket refinements, and tweaked mine for my body size. To me, the only intimidating part of the bike is it's weight as slow speed. The engine is brilliant, extremely smooth and pulls in any gear. I kept toying with the idea of trading mine in but in the end I decided to keep it as they are quite rare these days, and as you say, they are definitely a grow on you. Ultra reliable, ultra fast and ultra smooth. Keep the videos coming.

      Thank you for that comprehensive input, yes it's hard to argue its weighty when shifting about, but I suppose its the weight that gives it that unstoppable majesty on the road. Thanks again.

    The biggest surprise for me was how DCT makes it city friendly. I mean it drives like a scooter in the city and then you hit open road and it is rocket to the moon. This bike grew on me too and I think it is my last one.

    Hi Graham, GOOD FOR YOU! I really hate when someone gives a “first impressions” review on a bike after being in it for a few minutes. I think it’s the worst disservice a person can do to that bike and manufacturer. I currently ride a 2018 Goldwing DCT, non tour that I bought brand new with zero miles. Had I test ridden this bike, I would have never bought it. Now that I’ve logged 116,000 miles in 3.5 years , I think it’s the greatest touring bike ever built. I also felt the same way about a 2017 VFR 1200X DCT I bought brand new. It was a creeper and it was only after I traded it in for my Goldwing did I truly realize what a great bike it was. Now I want a VFR 1200 F DCT as a back up bike. Love your videos and especially love your blue Viffer! Keep the vids coming and ride safe!

    • @Grahamvfr
      @Grahamvfr  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow 116,000 miles in a few yrs that's impressive, I think my total bike miles over 48 yrs only adds up to 200k.
      Yes it makes me chuckle when after just 2 mins a vlogger will rave about handling and comfort and engine etc.
      Only goldwing I've ridden was the original 1976 model,..... That's Soooo long ago. I fancy trying vfr dct.
      Many thanks for your encouraging comment, hope you find a nice vfr.

    That blue is very beautiful on the bike. I have a red 2010 automatic. I agree with your first impression assessment. I love the bike. It’s one of six bikes I own and ride regularly. As you say it is deceptively fast. I had my CPU flashed. On the last ride my friend was trying to keep up with me and claimed he was going 150. He never did pass me even though I wasn’t going that fast it’s just that it gets up to speed so quickly that it leaves large gaps. Ride quality is my biggest complaint. Compared to other bikes it rides extremely harshly on rougher pavement. I am considering a suspension upgrade of some kind. You’ve done a beautiful job detailing your bike. I love the look of your original windshield. Thanks for the work on the videos.

    • @Grahamvfr
      @Grahamvfr  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Six bikes I'm jealous now.
      Yes the mid range grunt gaps other bikes very quickly.
      Ride quality/bump absorption... OK Jack this is a big enigma for me. I agree fully, the bump absorption on certain slow speed ( 30 ish 40) is worse than I expected, which is odd given its weighty sprung mass, it does for me improve with very rare pillion rides.
      However this is the n enigmatic bit, the actual ride quality on smooth and patchy roads is again in my opinion, very isolating (but with good feel) hence refined feeling.
      So I don't know how it can be so different. I may (but knowing me probably not) look to re valve forks, I'm OK with rear, but in meantime I run with no rebound and minimum pre load. I'm about 74 kgs.
      I'm guessing heavier riders will have an easier time.
      Sorry to go on, but interesting subject.

    • @thumperjdm
      @thumperjdm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice write-up Jack. I also had a 2010 VFR1200DCT. The motor is a monster (once you get out of 1st & 2nd gear--which are neutered at the bottom on the DCT bikes.) My main complaints with the bike were the very plain cockpit/dashboard features, and the suspension. I found the VFR turned like a truck. I added an Ohlins shock to the rear, and had the suspension set by a professional. The bike was marginally better, so instead of turning like a truck, it now turned like a small truck. I really tried to love that bike, but Honda just didn't put enough high-tech features onto this (supposedly) flagship motorcycle.

  • @JIMWSMITH

    Totally agree with all comments Graham. Very easy to ride its not intimidating unless your really giving it some throttle. The lower rev range upto 5000 rpm is very tame. You can ride it all day long below 5000 rpm doing B roads and motorways with ease its so refined like you say... my only niggle is comfort on the knees, and upper back pain, not helped with a seat that you slide upto the tank all the time doesn't help riding postion will be getting that sorted..

    • @Grahamvfr
      @Grahamvfr  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, a lot of comments over the yrs about knee postion, but luckily of all my aged bones my knees cope OK, (even tjough I broke one on a little fizzy when I was 16 haha).
      Guess it helps keep seat height low for shorter riders.

    Hi graham the vfr 1200 f is very much like the 800 one i had but with a lot more grunt bottom line is all vfr models are good its the only bike you ride and feel you have ridden it for years think you will agree with me on that. The 1200 f is a very under rated bike the build is top notch the v4 motor is a beauty like i have said before not had mine long but this season will use it a lot most off biking days have been on vfrs 750s and 800s had others but always come back to the honda.

      Instant rideability yea that's a good description. I've ridden many vfr 750/800s but not owned one long term. I bought a 1990 fz750 back in 96,and at the time it was a toss up between that and the vfr 750 (white 89 model I think? ),however fz was nice bike.
      Then I was hoping prior to vtec that they would up the cc to a 1,000, but I suppose with the blackbird still around they wouldn't do that.

    Hi...my pal and I both bought ours almost 3 years ago. Both love the bikes but initially thought low speed manoeuvres were a bit tricky as the weight feels high up. Don't notice now. My friend needed a lower seat but couldn't find an OEM so had one made. His bike is a 2015 with upgraded seat whereas mine is a 2010 so he gave me his seat and had mine converted. This last month I had mine serviced and when got it back in the garage noticed had the dreaded seat tear near the tank..anyone know a good place that repairs them ?

    • @Grahamvfr

      I am thank you. May I offer my thoughts. If the commute is city, then the wristy position (although no worse than your zzr) might jar, and the clutch is heavy (dct would solve that).
      If its a rural type commute no problem, as indeed your long distant need. You woukd have to weigh up things like is the extra weight offset against convenience of shaft drive and firmly planted road presence. 👍

      The CB1100 is nearly perfect bike; amazingly quiet and vibration free. It is the last of a long line of air cooled transverse 4 cylinder DOHC engines 1140cc but has all the latest features like fuel injection and 6 speed transmission. It is 88 horsepower and pulls strong from idle. In America, all 2014 CB1100s were black. Seating is upright and comfortable with kind of a retro look and analog gauges with mag wheels.
