  • I this video I try to hunt down an issue with the NIU N1s showing an Error 140, which decodes to "Throttle problem".
    Therefore I'll show how to remove the font-panel to get access to the hall-sensor, how to measure and check it for correct function as well as removing the throttle handle to have a look inside and check the bowden-wire which is connected to the hall-sensor.

    Thanks a lot for your video, after checking the handle and the hall sensor, nothing seemed wrong with it for me.
    What fixed error 140 (N1S 2017) for me was disconnecting/reconnecting, cleaning and spraying with contact spray the big white plug that goes into the motor controller that is located under the seat/trunk. You have to remove the trunk (4 big screws) to access it, it is pretty easy.
    As a lot of members of myniu already said, I suspect bumps on the road, and also the central crutch "hard springback", to loosen the connection between the controller and the plug... I try to use only lateral crutch and to be gentle on speed bumps now, hoping the error doesn't reappear.
    FRA :

    I bought NIU N1s and went to service after 840km. After that I had a similar problem to my N1s although the warranty period is not expire. My moped used just for 6 months 2600km with error 140. Service + Repair cost 300usd. .... Chinese quality... Nerver buy NIU....

    Great video myniu. Just been shopping, loaded the box, turned the key, it went through the checks and ended up with gear 1 locked, cant remember if thats normal, probably. Pressed green button nothing, waited repeated a few times, nothing, though for a split second I saw code 140 in tiny digits at the top of the screen. Unplugged the battery a couple of times, nothing. Started walking it home, thought Id recheck after a few hundred yards and voila., it worked, The alarm did come on for no reason so might be connected.

    Worth a shot but had been getting this error literally non stop especially with holes in the road or speed bumps etc! Went under the seat and dusted everything till it was sparkling and so far it seems to have gone away feel like the dust may have been interrupting one of the contacts on the FOC

    Hello! @my_niu thank you so much for your great content creation and your amazing blog of Myniu.
    I experienced the same problem with my NIU NGT, This not have hall sensor, directly have the throtle ring in the grip. I experience the issue constantly especially with a bad terrain riding.
    Also, I experienced other CRAZY problem, is about the Battery level, I have two batteries panasonic 35ah60v and sometimes after make a riding i discharge the battery around 90% both batteries and after little time one of the batteries go to 100% again, also, can ride some kilometers and the battery level still on 100% and other is discharging.
    I checked the voltage levels when one battery is at 100% and other at 80% the battery voltage it’s the same, but NIU app and screen shows different level, anyone experienced this problem?
    Thank you in advance!!

    I just found your video, I have the same throttle problem on a (december 2018 built?) Niu M+, after driving 1,5 years and 2000 km it started randomly doing this that it sometimes drops from 48-50 km/h 5 or sometimes even 10 km/h for a short time. Chinesium quality I suppose.

    Hello, could tou HELP me? I bought recently 1 Niu N1s from auction( without papers and batteries). Was a ridesharing scooter and it does not have a key, only a
    power button. I try to put a battery inside and try to start, but nothing happens. Can you tell me how to bypass that power button and directly start? Maybe connecting some wires inside will fix this.Nowhere i can find that information. Thank you!

    So to just (kind of) round-up this:
    I've installed a different FOC (aka controller) and ever since never experienced Error 140 again.
    Like others already assumed, I second the theory of flakey connections to or inside the original FOC - cold/broken solder-joints are also possible.

    • @my_niu
      @my_niu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mariusbig88 The "FOC" is the Field Oriented Controller en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector_control_(motor) - that's the the controller which decides how much 'juice' the motor gets and in result, how fast you drive.
      It's below the seat, underneath the luggage compartment aka "bucket".

Sympthoms are like the bike start to shake feels like u driving with a low pressure tyre or something block the wheel.Also no throttle respond.Terrible.If this error come back probably the controller need to be replaced.

    Hi, i have a similar problem to my N1s, sometimes when i driving on full throttle it los a little bit of speed when the road is a little bit bumpy. Do you recognice that problem?

    • @my_niu
      @my_niu  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Henrik, Yes that could certainly be the same issue. So I'd recommend that you check the seating of the hall-sensor plug as described in the video. If the problem still persists there's also a chance of a "cold solder joint" in the ECU (opening it voids guarantee) or a slightly broken cable - which is a pain in the a** to find.

    • @my_niu
      @my_niu  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Error 99 is a communication issue. Can be a bad/loose connection of wires of the smart central controller.
      In these cases it's always good to take your NIU to your dealer to check this with his H1 device.

    • @my_niu
      @my_niu  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did it run normally before? You mean it goes into "reverse"? That's funny and definitely a "first"... contact your dealer, there's something seriously broken (cable short, ECU got zapped, etc)

      @@my_niu Thanks for your reply. I did, they came and took the scooter to the service. Only 7 Km, got home with it, and the problem appeared as I was parking it. It appears the ECU is the problem. Why do you think this happened? Could it be a mass-production fault? Is it because of the mode change when in transit?

    I also have or I had problem number 140. Several times it happened earlier that he did not want to move immediately, but now the problem got worse. For me, it was helpful to turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. Perhaps a slight vibration during this maneuver shifted some electrical contact. I turned on scooter 0 times / and this problem did not pop up

    Niu bikes are flawed. I bought a second hand N GT and the 140 error attacks any time. This bike is so unreliable and dangerous that sales of these should be forbidden. That bloody sensor is unnecessary. Super Soco do not have and hence in London delivery services are using them. DO NOT BUY NIU, IT IS JUNK!!!
    Recall these bikes and fix them!

    • @my_niu
      @my_niu  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not really - that's because nobody was able to tell me, if it's really 0.2V making a difference.
      At least I got feedback from 4 owners having the same issue. All in conjunction with bumpy roads (like Henrik P. reported below) - so a loose connection or cold joint inside the hall-sensor seems to be very likely, specifically with 2017 models.

      @@my_niu Still no update on the problem? It is frustrating and quite dangerous, tbh, when it decelerates from 50 to 40 or 35 kmh on a 50 or 70 kmh street. Can you tell me where did you find documentation where it says the voltage should go to 3.8V?
      Also, did you try shaking the harness to see if there is a loose connection caused by vibrations?
