6 months ago I was looking at dump trailers. In a 150 mile radius I looked at several used. All were beat up...bad. bent axles, broken welds...every single one had different size mismatched tires. One had 14", 15" and 16" rims. Hydraulics mounted under the bed were crusted in thick dirt. Frames that were racked or cracked. Every single one, the seller wanted top dollar and said, "I know what I got". Then I decided to look at new trailers. [Please do a video on what to look for in a new dump trailer]. Again I looked from Sacramento to Fresno at new trailer dealers. The range of build quality and thought put into design was incredible. The cheap ones had under bed mounted hydraulics and the bare minimum in materials used for the frame. My needs determined I could only go up to a 10ft lengthwise due to the project I'm working on and tight spaces. Finally found a R&J trailer made in Madera California. I did spend a little more, but it isn't going to break.

Oh my you would not believe the things I’ve seen after the hurricane around here! I’ve seen trailers so overloaded it would blow your mind!

    Trailer Smith
Ive got several trailers and got tired of paying for others to fix simple problems. Thanks to your videos im fixing my own rigs now.
Question Picked up a tandom axle with no brakes. Do I have to buy a "braking axle" or can i put a brake drum on a normal axle and attach the wire running to the other side with zip ties or something?

Trailer Smith, I looked through your videos hoping to find some info for my question but did not see anything (please forgive me if you’ve talked about this and I missed it)…
I have a gooseneck equipment equipment / utility trailer and a 5th wheel camper…in your opinion, what is the best hitch setup to be able to pull both, without all the time changing hitches?…in other words put a 5th wheel hitch in the truck and convert the gooseneck to a kingpin,,or put a ball in the truck and convert the camper to a ball type hitch?…
Thank you- (if your willing to touch this possibly controversial question)

Excellent analysis, but you forgot the bed pivot structure.

Yeah...I looked at one used trailer where the hinges were so bad it sounded like a train wreck when he raised the bed.

Got a question. Are TK axles any good, or have any support or parts availability? See them advertised. I usually deal with dexter.
