Thank you very much 🙏 Glad the pace is good and yes I was genuinely worried about the edit and the duration but your comment is really reassuring. Thank you 😊
Great video!! I’ve been fighting screaming and cussing at my RC600 trying to get it to act as a midi slave without glitching the loops out and ruining them. Still not really any closer to a fix. Boss has finally had a rep reach out to me but they haven’t come up with any solutions other than erase everything and reinstall all the software.. really frustrating. I’m really hoping with time Boss fixes this thing but overall I’m really sick of companies using their customers as beta testers and releasing half finished products. It’s a culture that needs to change but only seems to get worse as we all just accept firmware updates.
Thank you so much again for such an incredible, detailed video. I'm so happy that even now that I bought the RC-600 I'm still keeping my TCH Voice Live Play Acoustic, not only for the Body Rez, but also for the harmonizer and the aux input. Regards.
Nice vid JP. I’m stubbornly sticking with Looperboard despite ‘foot switch-gate”. I’ve never really liked boss products across the line and, although I am always tempted by ‘Boss’s latest looper’, I never end up jumping ship. I just wish you’d released this video with the “restore to factory setting and reinstall the update” advice a bit earlier. Just spent 2 days sweating, swearing and frantically trying to troubleshoot why my Looperboard was glitching loops. Turned out I’d updated straight over an update, without reverting. I ended up taking it back to factory settings and reinstalling a previous version, then doing both steps again but with the latest version and it seems the day has been saved. Sound advice my good man along with “back up your board”. Just in case anyone is wondering, if you hold the 2 bottom row buttons in the right hand corner (rec/overdub/play for tracks 3 & 4) and then turn on your Looperboard, it should say “reverting” and take to back it to factory settings, it will delete everything though, so back up your board to PC first.
I love how JP is getting the flack and it’s not even his product! He’s just a better ambassador for it than Roland Boss are……just like those 2 guys with the TC HELICON VOICELIVE 😂
Excellent & really effective comparison - thanks. I have the Headrush. When it was first released it wasn't much better than an attractive doorstop (nearly useless and shocking it was released like that) but the V2 firmware delivers 99% of expectations. Still a couple of minor quirks when interfacing to other kit but as a do-it-all intuitive device, and ignoring price differential, I still feel it is the best of the bunch.
Love my RC600, As a new looper lots to learn but you soon get the hang of it.Purchased your looping course and its great as you can go back to it whenever you want to find what your trying to do
What a great comparison! I have tried both and ended up with the RC-600 for it's size and versatility. I really hope they introduce true auto (natural) hamronies though! It is my most wanted feature on the RC-600. At the moment I am mounting a VE-500 on my pedalboard just for that function and would much rather have it fully integrated with the looper instead.
Me too Chris!! How do you find the VE-500? Have always been curious with it but I have been a TC-Helicon man for YEARS and have never played with a VE-500? If it’s just harmonies you need have you ever seen or used the TC-Helicon Harmony Singer 2? Much smaller and does one job very well. 👍🏻 I still use my Voicelive Play Acoustic cause of the compression, de-essing, the bodyres to my guitars, and also a lot of effects that I have dialled in over the years.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Yes the Harmony singer 2 is a lot better fit. I ended up liking the VE-500 over the harmony singer 2 as I can change presets from Low or high or High & Low etc. with an external pedal (without needing to bend down and adjust the dials). It also has extra features available that I can use for recording etc. It has worked well for me so far. But I would of course replace it with any inbuilt Auto (natural) harmonies in the RC-600 - Boss could easily add it in a firmware update! You could just select the input source you would like to use as the Harmony reference 🙂
The extreme is a beast! Love the feature of the SD card and being able to auto trigger from a backing without pressing a button. Very clever tech! Had the 2 and the 3 but never owned the extreme.
I was so excited to pick up a HR Looperboard a couple years back, only to have to spend an entire weekend with their technical support trying to upgrade the firmware. I wound up returning it the following Monday. There was no way to upgrade the firmware regardless of what we tried, which for me (as someone who’s worked in IT for some time) is a massive red flag. Great video, John. I love all the advancement we’re seeing with loopers, and look forward to what’d coming up.
Excellent video. I got the RC600 a few weeks ago and finally started working out some material on it this week. It's been a very frustrating experience trying to get some basic loop workflows, such as recording onto a loop with a pickup beat (nearly impossible). It's also frozen on me several times, even with the latest firmware. Out of frustration, I found this video, as I'm researching other loopers. I still have more investigating to do on the RC-600, but I don't want to miss the return window. Anyway, thanks for a very informative video. You are changing lives! lol
More than welcome 🙏 I would suggest having a look at the playlist I have made for all the RC-600 videos so far. Just out of curiosity are you using midi at all in your setup? Crashes are frequent with this but a full factory reset can help. I know it’s a pain but I have don’t this, not restored, just updated to the latest firmware and then a full factory reset and I’ve never had a crash. Ever! @@JohnPaulMusicUK Thx so much for the response! You know it's interesting; it hasn't crashed on me at all for the past few days. I used it at a gig on Sunday and everything went smoothly (other than getting double triggers sometimes when I pressed the buttons with my tap shoes on haha). I've been checking out your playlist. Really good stuff. You are a gem and a hero! I decided to keep the RC-600. The fact that I can fit it into my carry-on bag is a huge deal, and the 6 tracks are great (I wish there were 12 -- 6 in mode 1 and 6 in mode 2). I will keep my fingers crossed that Boss continues upgrading that firmware. There is so much more that this thing SHOULD be capable of. It's actually a little frustrating. But it is reliable enough to impact my artistry!
Nice video but I think I want to share my experiences with one of the described pedals. Namely the RC-600. Just because John Paul mentiones the firmware problems and that he does not have them - lucky John Paul. By it´s specs it looked like it would be perfect for us (MarrowVoltage - 3 piece electro band with cello) But the damn thing refused to work as midi slave and as midi master. The behaviour was so odd that we ordered another brand new one just to learn - the fault is by design. We tried to sync the RC-600 from an Octatrack that is in my experience a reliable clock source (successfully paired it with drum machines, sequencers, synths in the past). But the RC-600 quit with an ugly / kryptic error message (System Error LC 2807 0110) and had to be power cycled. Not for long as this happened continuously. Then we thought, ok maybe the Octatrack is not precise enough let´s invest in an even thighter clock source - the ERM Multiclock. The most precise clock for quite some money. Result was the same - system error. We didn´t want this at first but was we wanted to make music and have an upcoming show we tried to use the RC-600 as a master clock. This turned out to be even worse. We had such an enormous amount of jitter that our grooves went nuts. Our Elektron machines did go up and down 2-5 bpm and anything was unusable. Despite the fact that it should be up to the user how to synchronize things (slave/master) a machine should do what is advertised. The RC-600 DID NOT !! I assume that this machine is made for guitar players and a solo show with only internal synchronisation. I can´t imagine anything else someone could do with this box. It´s fine if John Paul has no problems with the firmware but putting this to the market is ridiculous. Beta-testing is the right name for that. Don´t get me wrong. Nothing against sorting some flaws in firmware updates in an already working product. This is done by a lot of companies in very good way (thing Access/Kemper, Elektron just to name a few). The RC-600 should clearly be advertised as non-syncable. The midi interface is for remote control - maybe. Your mileage may vary but I am cured from using Boss loopers. So now we´re in for the Headrush an hope that this thing does not suck when it comes to midi sync.
I have the RC-600. I bought it a couple months ago and I gig with it. I’m not a high tech minded guy. I don’t have an engineering type of brain. I kinda wanna try the headrush after watching this! It seems simpler and I’m not gonna use a ton of customizable stuff.
That’s fair enough. You might like my course. @@JohnPaulMusicUK I appreciate that mate and will more than likely take you up on your offer. I have 13 shows this month. I want to go full time so investing in myself is going to be necessary.
Thanks dude! Much appreciated. I went with the RC600 as a "side-grade" to my RC300 due to 2nd hand proces on the RC300. The plan was for a 6 loop set up with two rc300's. Now it's hopefully a mega 9 loop set-up. I have heard from another TH-cam video that you can midi control the rhythm section on the RC600 with a midi keyboard/ mpc pads. So my electric drum kit can be wired in without sacrificing an audio input. I am yet to try it out and see how it works, but the prospects seem quite interesting. Thanks again.
Wow! 9 loops! Mega! You can run the RC-600 like a 300 if you wanted to phase it out. You’ll hear the audio quality difference once you mess with the overdubs. Also, yes. Have a look at this for playing the drums of the 600 as loops - th-cam.com/video/YHI-Do0U3lI/w-d-xo.html
@@JohnPaulMusicUK i bought RC 600 few days ago, i already had my first system crash. Only vocal and guitar attached to it…error LC 3071, frmw is 1.21 newest. My only fear is this…crashing, as you sad (crossed fingers)… i like flexibility of the board a lot
Excellent video,. Coming from a boss RC 300, where menu diving is kind of a drag for me I was looking into maybe something new and more usable. I really love the headrush interface.

I have the Looperboard. I needed a looper and Boss hadn't released the 600 yet. I really like the Looperboard. it's got a very good interface and the sound quality is great. My one complaint is the vocal harmonizer activation process. To turn the harmonies on and off, you have to hit the "FX" button which then brings you to another layer of footswitch configurations and then you you have to hit the corresponding button that you've assigned as the on/off switch. The frustration = if you only use harmonies on the chorus, for example, this means you have to first activate the chorus track, then hit the fx button then hit the harmonies button. To get back to verse track, you have to reverse this. It really makes for some nasty tap dancing. If HeadRush allowed you to assign one of the buttons to turn the harmonizer on/off on the same button configuration layer as the tracks, it would make life way easier. The other thing is the actual quality of the harmonizer. I don't know if this would actually be any easier on the Boss or not.
The beauty of the boss is you can use assigns and configure either any of the buttons to by anything or configure an external button to be anything either, so for this, you could have a dedicated button like an FS-6 or 7 pedal to be the ‘hit’ on/off for the harmonies… if they gave us a harmony! 😂 Hence why I keep the TC-Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic. However TC-Helicon made their units, they just seem to have one of the most natural harmony systems imo
you can attach a footswitch interface via usb or five pin and assign a midi command to go to the vocal effects directly read the manual for the cc number
@@manjushah8929 I hooked up the midi baby switch and it works! It has made life a heck of a lot easier. The only drawback = it turns the whole FX rack on and off, instead of just the one effect within the rack you want to trigger--but, it's still much easier now. Thanks again, Manju!
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Do you think it would be better to use a Boss rc300 with Tc Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic? I'm quite satiesfied with rc 300 except the basic effects possibilities. I can't use different effect for the guitar and my voice (reverb and delay is ok but what is good for voice is usually too much on the guitar). And I really miss a decent eq for the guitar and for the voice aswell (different eq for them) A good compressor for my vocal would be great aswell. Can you do all these stuff with rc 600? I'm searching for different videos about it, but i couldn't find the right one:D Can you use different effects on different inputs? I know that you can use different fx-s on different tracks, but that's not good enough for me. I'm not sure that I need more than 3 loop tracks. I have a lot of work in my rc300 so I'm struggling what can be a good update. Thank you in advance! Your video is great!;)
Have to say, the routing options on the headrush make it a winner for me. The ability to output each looper track to it's own individual input on my mixer, and thus easily add EQ and volume controls separately, as well as easily control each track in my in-ear monitor mix is a game changer. As far as I'm aware, the rc600 only has 3 outputs for 6 channels?
So the RC-600 has a total of 6 mono outputs and the headphone Jack (stereo), 8 in total, you can route all 6 tracks and the rhythms independently of you wanted to into a mixer and do what you are doing. 👍🏻 Or all 6 loops out and then your own vocals and instruments as well.
Bloody solid video/comparison, man! ;) I sold my RC-50 recently, as I switched to Ableton and XSonic pedals. But I’ve had my eye on the HRush since it came out. If i eventually go DAWless, again, I’ll probably get one. Roland products are great, but they’re sort of too generic. It kind of puts me off. The HR is so expensive though… Thanks again for the video. Really really good side by side comparison. Congrats! ;)
Well they brought a touch screen into the GX-100 so there is hope… maybe one day. A touch screen with a companion app for hands on control. Ahhhh a man can dream.
Yeah. I feel like if they push themselves into the touchscreen Interface, they would have easily won over Headrush. The Screen on Headrush is sweet. Seems so user friendly for a 48year old scumbag like myself.
Thank you for this !! Just received the RC 600 and discover that i can't record on seperate tracks simultaneously, i thought it could obviously do that since it's possible to rout the inputs but... i'm considering sending it back now.... Does the overhead (or any other looper you know) offer that option ?
Thanks for this I’ve got my headrush looper board cause I wanted more. I’ve been using my RC300 for 7yrs and the one thing that I don’t use my headrush LB, is because of the rhythm section. I love the beefy sound of it on my RC300 On my headrush LB, the rhythm section sucks!! So I love the fact that the RC600s drum machine can be used in various ways
Glad I could help. Yeah the rhythm section on the 600 is quite impressive when you in to it. Have a look here: th-cam.com/video/CvYEyoQn1Eg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VmxK64pcDBxORKdT
Great comparison, thank you for this! I own the RC-600 and lately having serious troubles with it - from not being able to sync a new loop to total failure - the whole machine just turns itself off. Not great during gigs. I'm going to wipe it clean and re-update it, to see if it's stable again, otherwise I'm thinking about switching to the Headrush Looperboard!
Yes. You’ll need a PC or Mac and you can transfer them. Official way is using the Tone studio for RC which has a basic import. Unofficial way is using John Taylor’s RC-600 editor which goes into more detail. Have a look here: www.rc600editor.com
Headrush LooperBoard now $499 all over the place. Thanx for all your info. I'm with you. A 7" touch screen on my RC 600 might even beat a desktop editor. Either would be a huge step in a friendly direction. You are a helpful guy. Loop the world.
That’s interesting - when I made this video, it hadn’t dropped to that price.. must be in response to the RC-600 and also leading up to holidays.. great thou.
The easy of use I guess and the big touch screen. Though I heard from some folks that the switches are substandard? But the unit looks great, yes I like the size too. Old school bigger layout which works better for me in live mode.. Keep it simple lol 😁 get on and sing and play.. Cheers loved the video and I have liked and subscribed Cheers bro Godbless Kind regards Vinn 😎 🎸 👍
Hi! Thanks for all these videos and tutorials. Think that both you and me play alot of same music style and are in to the same gear.. I have so much trouble to decide wich looper i should go for. Had an rc600 but i had so much trouble with it that i got the money back from the store. Got an headrush instead and had it for around 6 months. Like that it got everything, all possibilities with routing, fx and everything. BUT i used ableton for a white in between and fell in love with the possibilities to automate everything in advance. For example i could set up tempo, trig channel 1 to record with one kind of fx, record for 2 bars, then automaticly move over to record channel 2, 4 bars, switch fx and then overdub. Yes you understand. The problem with ableton was that i couldnt program any midi pedal to work like an analog looper in a decent way. Now for a question. Wich looper or software do you prefer? Ive downloaded loopy pro to my iPad now and Will try it out in a few days with my nektar pacer. Do you think that Will open up more Doors then the headrush? I cant spend alot of money on the gear now and the only thing im dreaming about is a decent guitar and vocalsound, minimise all pressing in livesoituation and the ability to change fx on the go. I dont want same setup on guitar like drumchannel. Thanks in advance.
I think that loopy Pro might be your answer - have a look at the Loopy Pro series and your teeth into this: th-cam.com/play/PLO36LpORUSaYsDmWvl2tqZr3flIVH2ffl.html&si=HPelDn-L6WTPvKrW Please keep in contact and let me know how you get on. 👍🏻 😊
Great video on both loopers 👌I actually thought the Flagship Headrush was gonna be the biggie…mmm ( was a user of the RC 300) while back when they were about. Both very technical to get the head around.. for studio use only I’m gonna wait till I see what the pro’s say on which is best for STUDIO use.Thanks. Glasgow Scotland🏴
That’s an interesting one. Studio wise, they are very good for plugging in and using with a DAW. The RC-600 is 32-bit float engine so that would be the audio quality winner. However the Headrush Looperboard with that big display is so much easier to program and see everything.
As I write this, the Headrush is more than twice the price of the RC-600, £100 more than twice the price; with two fewer tracks. It’s almost unfair to compare the two. A better comparison currently would be between the Headrush and the Sheeran X looper; which also has four tracks but is 50% more expensive. IMO A touchscreen on the floor misses the point of a pedal looper - a remote touchscreen on a stand would be a real improvement to either machine. I’d rather not have the temptation of the touchscreen once the machine is set up for a particular song or function. No one wants to see you bending down to make anything other than essential adjustments.
Hey Kurt 👋 This is truly valid and I hear you. When this video was made the Sheeran Loopers hadn’t even been announced let alone released and believe me, when I get my hands on a Looper X I will be doing that video. But yeah no one wants to see a musician bending down and making adjustments.. however.. if you need to make changes, it would be so much easier on a touch screen (and faster) than a tiny menu screen. I do hear you though. Should be setup so you don’t have to touch it during the performance. Watch this space for when I can get a Sheeran looper X 👌
In today's world, the HRLB is discontinued with no reason or follow up. Honestly I think I would prefer the HeadRush over the RC600 for my needs, but it's really hard to justify the large purchase of a discontinued product with no hope of support. Anybody else?
Nice video, would be nice to see a reviews on the Singular sound Aeros, Beat buddy, and the midi maestro all together. See how it stands up to the Boss and HR
Hey Eric. Unfortunately I will not own a Singular Sounds Aeros due to the way you loop with it. I have tried one and took my time with it and it’s just not for me.. however.. those three together would be a beast for anyone who used them in tandem! But then you are toying with 3 pedals for the sake of one. It’s a good argument.. don’t get me wrong. But I just didn’t get in the the Aeros. Just not the way I loop.
Your videos are great, thanks. I’m wondering if you have plans to do a Loopy vs RC 600 comparison. By the way does Lupe have a foot switch capability? Thank you so much
Hey 👋 That’s an interesting comparison and a difficult one too cause it’s not just one flagship pedal against another but two different kinds of loopers against each other. Loopy Pro has so much expansion and AUV3 plugins and customisation to build EXACTLY what you want.. but.. it’s an app that you then need more equipment to make work (audio interface/pedals/controllers etc) and then have to wire all that up. The Floor based loopers like the Headrush and RC-600 are an ‘all-in-one’ system with that all in a plastic or metal box ready to go.. but they all have their limitations. And to answer your question, yes loopy HD and Loopy Pro can talk to foot pedals either with an adapter or Bluetooth. You have to program them up to do it but yes it can be done. 👍🏻
Hi John, fantastic video! I'm following your precious guides about Rc600. I already have one, but I'd like to buy a Headrush Looperboard too. A reseller of my country told me about a new version of the same available in the next months (maybe next February). Do you have some rumors or any suggestions about?
Can you record something using the looper and then bounce it to the backing track player all in the box? Essentially the looper section would have to mix down or have a record option - save to (.wav) then load .wav into the player?
That would be a FANTASTIC idea but actually no, it’s not a feature. Maybe reach out to Headrush and let them know that idea. That’s fab! They have a great forum and their development team are on there as well.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK to further clarify, my first question is, can I make rigs or patches in it like what we do in boss gt1 fx modeller? I want to make 6 loops for 6 different parts of a song and store them in six tracks. Similarly I want to make 6 different guitar fx patches to play over the six different parts of the song. I want the respective guitar fx patches to activate when i kick in different loops. Is it possible to do that?
I have the Looperboard, great for a newbie acoustic person to start playing around but now that I’m further down the rabbit hole, is there a way to connect an external fx pedal I inherited to the Looperboard and to route it where I want it?
yes. I use an expression pedal for the volume of the loops for example. For an external FX pedal, I use the TC-Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic and plug that into the combi jacks.
Congratulations on your channel, it's awesome. I have a question, I am a singer and solo guitarist and I would use the boss rc600 to trigger backing tracks. I am concerned about the ability and performance of the Bosss rc-600 to store and play 90 drum and bass backing tracks on each song. The duration of each theme would be around five minutes Do you think it would be possible? or maybe you think headrush looperboard is better for this? Thank you so much
The storage on either device is not an issue. The total per memory is 1.5hrs and with a grand total of 13 hours spread of the the 99 tracks. The Headrush can store loads too with the added bonus of external hard drive support. 👍🏻 😊
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Ok, thank you very much, but would you know how many gigabytes could be stored in all the memories? It would be a problem if the drive gets stuck because of these memory too full greetings
I have a Digitech for small jobs and a 300 I was curious about the 600 so I found your video, thanks for all the details also comparing to the Headrest, witch is new for me. In your opinion what's the best loop when it goes to loop syncopated rhythms I play latin music...thanks in advance, thumbs up and subbed!
No problem! Best is RC-600 as you can make your own rhythms and import them as SMF files! Plus the routing, versatility, effects and just sheer quality of the 32but sound make it the best for me.
Still on a TC DUO x2 haha I would really benefit from something better with midi to sync things with my drum machines / synths. Thinking of either of these or just setting something that loops up in reaper with some sort of controller to arm / loop tracks
Also.. the sound quality! 32 bit float is really the way to go now with loopers - there is so much more clarity, especially when your coming through a bigger speaker or PA. Once you have a few loops down the sound does get crunched and compressed with the 16 bit loopers and now we have 32 bit float, it’s mad that I can hear that. It’s just doesn’t happen as 32 bit float has so much more headroom.
Hey JP... Question: Has the Headrush been discontinued? I was researching both about 2mo back and there were a couple of sellers offering brand new Headrush Looperboard for 400.00 which where I live was extremely low...So low in fact it seemed too low...anyway I went with the 600 but that was a tough decision as 400 was a very nice price...for the Headrush...Now it seems several of the large retailers have listed it as "no longer available" which has me curious....
Yeah I’m starting to see that. A few others have commented that it’s had a price drop but whenever I check it out (especially in the UK stores) its retailing around £799-£849). 🤷♂️ Rumours are circling about a version 2 but I certainly don’t know?!
I just bought the looperboard but now I am wondering if I should have bought the boss. I have no experience in looping but i just don’t want to have to upgrade for a few years. What would you guys recommend? It’s still early in the game so I am open to returning and getting the rc I’m just not sure. Any help is appreciated.
100% honesty, I prefer the Boss RC-600. But.. but.. but.. it’s harder to program up than the Headrush. Because of that screen, the headrush is really easy to navigate.. but the effects in the RC-600 I think are better for what I use it for, there are 6 loops, it’s 32-bit float and I can certainly hear the sound quality difference.. especially when looping a lot of overdubs. This is my choice.. but everyone is different. Ask Carl Wockner and he’ll tell you the Headrush.. and that’s a man who has just been signed too!. Step back and ask yourself what you want out of ANY looper and then look at the specs.
No mention to the switch issues with the looperboad? It is a great looper but does not work properly when pressing the switches. Some people got lehle switches for it. But I sold it and got a RC600. Tougher to set up but more reliable in my opinion
Yes, but old units have the old switches. The main reason I finally sold mine, though I also disliked how large it was, plus the drum choices sucked compared to my Boss 10R - some os play songs in 3/4 time. Ultimately, I felt the switches were a ticking time bomb, so I stopped using it. Not that I’d rebuy, but it is good That you say they are offering new switches on the newer models. I’m curious to know if they are offering to replace them for those who have the old switches. They really should.
This is exactly the problem they had with the voice live extreme! There were so many complaints about it crashing! The problem is they bring out these incredible devices that do everything but they don’t feckin test them properly 🤷🏻♀️
Lots of thought.. lots! MKii would be the way to go and footswitch wise.. depends on what you need. But lots of flexibility there and a great great option. I would totally lean towards the 505 and foot pedal setup for that. 👍🏻
I have a guitar pedal with a wet and a dry output. I’d love to record the wet and dry signal simultaneously, and separately (able to be separated) is this possible on the looperboard?
Have a look at my RC-600 playlist which is here: th-cam.com/play/PLO36LpORUSaa9-oX7LbZ4CRRUHMiWoU0s.html and I also have a full RC-600 course too! www.johnpaulmusic.co.uk/offers/Bw8uzFw2/checkout
Personally I don't like cars with touch-screens, i don't like ovens with touch-screens.. I don't like thermostats with touch-screens.. +I am SO glad that the RC600 does NOT have a big screen, or worse yet, a "touch screen." ("touchscreens" are so satanic +unpleasant to touch..) The RC600 screen is perfectly small in size to not take up valuable space. (the only instance where I would be in favor of a big screen would be If they were to build something that could be hooked up +used with the big screen of a computer (only when setting it up, or re-configuring it between gigs.. to get a birds eye view of the routing options etc.) that would be ok, (although unnecessary, since it can already be done without a big screen), but it might be nice as it could be easier to understand and use.. but why would u want a big screen on a looper that is used on the floor?? Who is going to want to move their mouth away from the mic, +bend over while wearing a guitar to try to start fondling touch screen? Forget it. I'd much rather program it ahead of time, +just play the RC600 with my feet. The only thing the RC600 really needs is a dimmer switch for those obnoxiously bright lights on the other parts of the pedal
so maybe a bigger, more intuative screen for referencing but not touch? thats fair comment and when I use the headrush im not touching the screen at a gig to be fair.. its just the size and design of the UI make it so much easier to dial things in, even at home.
Awesome .. I swear I've been eyeing both for a while. I've had an rc300 for several years, but was just about to buy the headrush .. and then dropped the 600 .. and now I'm curious about the 505 after watching you mess around with it too, but it's probably not a direct comparison like these two .. the struggles. Great break down! I'm really leaning towards the headrush though because it has less customization. I went to Ableton for the customization, but now want something like the 300 designed to work within a predefined structure. Plus, feel like if ever there was one board that could work for an acoustic gig, guitar and vocals.. this would be it. Though, it needs a little more, but maybe in a 3.0 update. It seems so close to being an all in one .. would love to have it to play with endlessly and see where I could get. The only thing I really like better about the boss is the size. I've looked over the manual and searched youtube ... does the RC-600 have a built in tuner? I don't think so .. and if it doesn't, that auto-harmony feature probably isn't an option. I'd wager it lacks the hardware needed to determine an instruments key and then allow you to use it to harmonize .
No tuner and yeah the only way round it is using something that can convert the strings to midi but that just adds more gear and strapping a weird pickup onto your guitar.. Ahhhh the holy grail.. we are forever searching!! Hahahaha
Hello Paul, greetings from Colombia. I wanted to know if with the boss rc 600 I also have the possibility to choose to only record one instrument. That is to say, if I am connected with my guitar and voice with the rc 600, can I only choose to record only the guitar? or just the voice? as if the headrush allows it?
I didn't buy either of them. I went for the Boss RC-505 MK2 instead. Modern loopers like the Boss RC-600 are becoming too complicated and less intuitive to use. They are crammed with so many features that require deep diving into menus and sub menus just to get simple tasks done. That's what the DAW's are there for. There are some physical attributes i enjoy on the RC-505 MK2 that are missing on one or both the RC-600 and the Looperboard, like individual faders per track, FX buttons per track and the Stop, Start and Rec buttons per track. I thought the RC-600 was going to be a more modern looking update of the RC-300 with a much bigger touch screen and still retain some physical controllers like the individual faders and foot switches, but i was disappointed in the new form factor of the RC-600.
Oooh that’s interesting. Yeah it’s another choice and I’m very lucky to have an RC-505mkii and I do enjoy the tactical response of having built in faders as well as the effects dial to alter things. I’m curious, do you have any foot controllers for it like an FS7 or more?
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Yes i have the FS6 Foot switch which is quite useful, except it doesn't have a physical on/off switch like the FS7. Always something missing isn't there?🤣
Hey John, what happened with the Loopy Pro content? You seemed to come out of the gate pretty enthusiastic on that and it all ended. In the meantime, still liking my RC-500 but strangely I am drawn to the 600 just to break free of the rhythm stuff on this, when I originally thought that was a great reason to buy it in the first place! Times change, watching what Matt Bolton can do with his drum pad and not wasting hours looking for the "right" rhythm in the 500.
I made the Loopy Pro stuff and am still going to be making content for it but when Boss Asked me to make the RC-600 content and was given early access to one, all my efforts went into that. Many reasons but the biggest is a solid LoopStation for gigging that I can gig with with the least amount of fuss. Loopy Pro is awesome and you can make more than an RC-600 if you put your mind to it but you need more cables, audio interface, foot controller and a way for that all to work nicely. It’s great and I love it but it’s different and the simplicity of a single pedalboard looper (yes I have effects with the TC-Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic) is best for how I loop at the moment. 👍🏻 Don’t worry thou - more loopy pro content coming.. just need more time.. not enough hours in the week! 😂
Headrush looperboard is terrible because of the switches and the company. The switches kept going out after 5 months….. and the company has still not responded to my email about getting a replacement. 5 months waiting mind you so i had to go back to old faithful rc 300 and its always been amazing!!!! And now 600 i am tempted to get it!
Such a shame really. The HRLB has all the markings of a great all in one board.. but the switches issue and the way the effects have been were just a let down.. sigh..
I have similar experience with headrush looper. I sent it to warranty repair twice but both times it came back without any improvements. It is the reason why I’m leaning to rc600 now
I've already got an rc600 and love it to bits and to be honest i prefere to have 2 pedals for each track and i also love the track and input fx and I'm glad the rc600 has multiple pages so tbh the rc600 wins (comment down below your thoughts)!
Good choice! both are Feb and it’s totally dependent on what you want and need as a performer. I use the RC-600 over the Headrush now due to the sound quality, amount of effects and more loops.. plus the totally customisation of all the buttons is just insane! have a look at what I mean here: th-cam.com/video/CyJ3VgOQAeA/w-d-xo.html
Great video as always. I have a couple questions, what are the 2 pedals you are using on the side of your play acoustic? Also, is your fs7 connected only to looper? I picked up rc600 a few months ago but I still have put it on my board yet. I’m trying to narrow down the pedals I want on new board. I was thinking about using an fs7 and having one extra button for looper and one button for chorus on play acoustic. Thanks again for all your great videos.
Here you go.. here’s a breakdown of my board - th-cam.com/video/Zc4bcpQJ7cM/w-d-xo.html And yes the FS-7 is connected to the RC-600.. all explained in the video
I own Both of them. MY personal experience so far is that as much as I like the boss for it's look, size and "potential" customization. it is simply to much of a pain in the ass to configure. I am a tech savy guy but get frustrated with it every-time I sit down to mess with it. For the life of me I don't know why boss wouldn't have at the very least a computer interface for configuration. It is simply to fucking complicated to navigate all those options with an LCD screen unless you are planning on spending days studying the manual and downloadable parameters manual. As for the Head Rush... plugged it in, updated it... started playing and having fun right out of the box! It is really night and day with how easy it is to configure and understand compared to the rc600. But, it is limited. There isn't but so much you can do with the four channels. It has less options but is way more intuitive for pumping out musical ideas and just having fun. The dilemma: Not interested in lugging around a 40lb computer to gigs. The headrush's screen isn't going to be doing me any favors when I am playing multiple instruments and entertaining a crowd and without the touchscreen it's honestly much more limited then past looper stations. I will be holding on to the RC600 and wait for boss/roland to get their head out of their asses, hire a programmer or two and create a rc600 interface. Then I will see if there are any buyers left for the headrush.
That’s a great comparison! There is a guy who is making a full blown independent editor.. he’s on one of the RC-600 Facebook groups! It’s looks Stella!! Might be the win you are looking for. 👍🏻
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Thank you! Do you know what the name or website name is for the editor? Isn't funny that a Single guy can do this but a massive company like Roland claims "They didn't create an editor to keep cost down"... I mean, how much can a couple of programmers possibly cost?!?
When u say "channels 7 and 8" (of the RC600).. I assume u R speaking of Vendor mode which I've never used, (it's not well explained anywhere that I am aware of..) but U make such good videos, it would be EPIC if u made a video on Vendor Mode. (nobody has done THAT..) Questions I'd have is... (can it be used in vendor mode without having it hooked up to a computer? +if so.. (all those options for custom programming channels 1-6..) do they give U an option to program additional channels 7+8 into the foot-switches when vendor mode kicks in?)
Hey. So yes and no! you can use it in vendor mode if you wish but im also talking about just general routing. you can route up to 8 outputs. and dont worry vendor mode video is on the way...
@@JohnPaulMusicUK The 7th+8th outputs being the L+R sides of the stereo headphone-out jack? Is that what u mean? (I will await your vendor mode video with great enthusiasm.)
RC 600 so far, I've found very good. I'm disappointed about not being able to name each track. And a "Note pad" section for each memory would be very handy. Sound wise and mixer/track flexibility is very nice: being able to route the "input/tracks" to the sub outputs in different configurations is a great mixer type feature; these units should have at least 4 separate outputs (stereo) and at least 8 inputs (stereo) for multiple instruments and other mixers to connect to the RC 600 since the recording quality is so good. Essentially that would make the unit into the only piece of equipment you would need to take to a gig and connect straight to the PA.
I like the idea of a note pad. Useful. And yeah more inputs and outputs. For me I want more more more of it all. Suppose I could get another one and tie them together! Wow.. scary! 😂
Nailed everything. I still like the Headrush more for ease of use and for how I loop. But I did finally sell it. First RC600 I bought it was early and was no where near ready for live for the way I loop. I gave it about a month and sold it cause I had kept the HR. Then the new firmware landed and while not perfect, it’s gigable for me. Saved space and weight but sure miss the ease of use and on the fly quick adjustments of the HR. I had problems with the switches and swapped to lehle but those ended up having issues as well. Looks like small bear switches like Carl Wokner uses are the way to go.
Yeah try switches on the early models were troublesome m. Had mine replaced and now if you buy a looperboard, apparently they ARE different switches. 👍🏻 Yeah want that touch screen on an RC-600. Do love the routing page on the HRLB. Very clear and clever.
@@sugarprobe hi Chris iam about to purchase one on reverb today and the add mentioned that they replaced the switches with same lehle switches or did you sell it already if so sorry for the confusion cheers 🇨🇦👍😎
@@JohnPaulMusicUK I personally have been looping for almost 20 years and all I wanna looper to do is loop. I don’t want all the effects and all the other crap that makes it expensive and big. I want the softshell boss buttons. I want multiple inputs for different instruments like six a small display screen to show where you are in the loop and six loops.
I went from pretty much hating the RC-600 to LOVING IT!!! My biggest issue in the past was a bug that came with a firmware update. Sometimes when I hit UNDO on the RC-600, it would change to a new, random bpm and it would train wreck the performance. This happened multiple times in front of an audience. I was ready to throw that thing out the f-ing window. Then, like a bolt of lightning from the heavens, a new firmware update dropped and fixed almost all my problems. The issues that remain are these: 01: No guitar tuner? WTF that seems like an oversight, I can't believe its not included. 02: Like most everyone else, I wish there was an auto vocal harmonizer 03: More ASSIGNS! I know 16 probably seems like plenty to a lot of people, but I use 9 of them just assigning faders to the individual track volumes + the rhythm volume.
I feel this. Yeah had that once but then was gone. Wishlist 1&2 are a no brainer. Want that too. Would be nice to cut off the guitar signal from the main out when you tune but not the vocal mic.. that would be nice so you could talk to the audience. Option 3 - now this is where I loose it. Not because of what you said but because of the clear and obvious wall Boss have put in place. There are secret cc# not allowed to be used and I BET they are to do with commands like volume and more for the internal controls. Why are these general commands not available as a system wide thing and then using Assigns would be for other things.. not to create mixers. They MUST be there otherwise how does the system on the RC-505mkii tell it what the faders are?! 🤷♂️ They need a SERIOUSLY updated editor (really impressed with how easy and simply the FS-1-WL editor is on the phone) and allow access for us all to have fader and pan controls without using up consumer assigns. Or just give us like 50 of them! 😆
It has a record memory of 13 hours total and up to 1.5hrs per memory. On the RC-600 there are 99 memories. You could technically have a 90min audio file on one memory of you wanted?!?! Crazy amount of storage!
It's highly unlikely that deleting your loops before installing new firmware on your RC-600 affected the process in any way, even if the board worked from that point on. If I'm misunderstanding and you found a way to re-flash the unit that's a different story. I've had teething issues with it as well. Currently my loops start to distort as if they've been time-stretched when acting as a tempo slave despite the host, my DAW, sending a constant timecode. Also I can't get most effects to span more than one track. I am, however, stoked that the loop sync issue is fixed.
It’s just a factory reset that I mean to get rid of any anomalies. Oooh that’s weird regarding the distortion- are you midi clock syncing by any chance?
@@JohnPaulMusicUK Ahh I have not tried a reset so thanks for that tip! Yes I’m MIDI clock syncing but have a MIDI monitor that shows no tempo change instructions are being sent. Problem goes away when I make the RC-600 the master. Thanks for the reply
Does the looper board have a way of triggering intro, outro and drum fills patterns on the fly? For example, on my digitech SDRUM I can hold a switch for and outro drum fill and another switch will “insert” or trigger a fill whoever I hit the switch anytime while the loop is playing. Thanks in advance!
@@JohnPaulMusicUK i have the sdrum connected with a midi cable and HRLB global Settings-midi clock receive “on” but the tempo doesn’t appear to match and when I push a tracks record button it only arms the track never “starts” to record. WTH? Drums sound great but the sdrum isn’t controlling the LB and I can’t record on any track.
Why have they still not got this right?! You still have to spend all night bent over faffing about with settings! They need to put the software on a tablet so you can control it with both your feet and your hands! Tadaaaaaaaa! However it does look to me that the head rush is the easiest to use?
There is a guy making independent software for the RC-600 which looks sick but is windows only at the mo. You are right but once you have things the way you want them, you can save it and shouldn’t have to bend down to control it. I Certainly don’t. 👍🏻
I don’t know why anyone with any intelligence would make a foot pedal that you have to bend over and use your fingers to make selections. How bout making the drums a separate unit that connects to the looper and can be put on a stand for ease of use to select you genre, tempo etc. I have an Alesis SR18 drum machine that I run into my RC1…. Yes RC1… and have my on off foot switch connected to that on the floor. No bending or reaching. I want more looping choices but I am not going to pay for a foot switch that requires hands. That makes no sense. Nor does updating the software on these things. Build it to do what it does. What’s the problem? I lose interest in the thought of purchasing these things when I read about how they stop working after a while. Made to break.
That’s fair and yea I would love a companion app on an iPad or a secondary unit you get with it that is hand based to make those selections. Hence why I’m looking into the RC-505mkii and then having a foot switch for that. Looking at the Boss FS-1-WL wireless programmable foot switch is a good shout. Not perfect but a good option for expansion. th-cam.com/video/i5vAbZTcFFQ/w-d-xo.html
Egyszerű a választás: a Headrush-t NEM lehet frissíteni(!!!) Alap verzióban küldik, az elérhető funkciók felével. Hiába keresed őket, nem reagálnak semmire!!! NEHOGY eszedbe jusson megvenni! Az rc 600-ban bizhatsz, kicsit nehezebb megtanulni.
BOSS and HR need to pay you for advertising. This is the most consice feature summary of both. WELL DONE!
Thank you Angus 🙏
concise.
I went into this video thinking it was too long, but I was actually captivated, great info sharing, pace and total presentation, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you very much 🙏
Glad the pace is good and yes I was genuinely worried about the edit and the duration but your comment is really reassuring. Thank you 😊
Great video!!
Best comparison video I've seen ever. Clear, simple, straight to the point in each category. Thanks!
Thanks 🙏 that’s great!
That’s good advice too!!
Love my RC600, As a new looper lots to learn but you soon get the hang of it.Purchased your looping course and its great as you can go back to it whenever you want to find what your trying to do
Thanks buddy.
Yeah the looper course is pretty in-depth so the lifetime pass is always a good selling point. 👍🏻
I still use my Voicelive Play Acoustic cause of the compression, de-essing, the bodyres to my guitars, and also a lot of effects that I have dialled in over the years.
Just get a VOICELIVE EXTREME. Criminally overlooked. One of the most amazing pieces of gear ever built!
Ditto I use both also
The extreme is a beast!
Wow that’s a crazy situation and a weird experience considering it main advantage it connectivity to computers etc for updates and the like.
You are changing lives! lol
More than welcome 🙏
I would suggest having a look at the playlist I have made for all the RC-600 videos so far.
Just out of curiosity are you using midi at all in your setup? Crashes are frequent with this but a full factory reset can help. I know it’s a pain but I have don’t this, not restored, just updated to the latest firmware and then a full factory reset and I’ve never had a crash. Ever!

Did you return it?
I have both
That’s great news and yeah, now on v1.3
Nice video but I think I want to share my experiences with one of the described pedals. Namely the RC-600.
Just because John Paul mentiones the firmware problems and that he does not have them - lucky John Paul.
By it´s specs it looked like it would be perfect for us (MarrowVoltage - 3 piece electro band with cello)
But the damn thing refused to work as midi slave and as midi master.
So now we´re in for the Headrush an hope that this thing does not suck when it comes to midi sync.
boss loopers are not good at midi sync with other brands, check Ben Rowlands course on syncing headrush looperboard
I have the RC-600. I bought it a couple months ago and I gig with it. I’m not a high tech minded guy. I don’t have an engineering type of brain. I kinda wanna try the headrush after watching this! It seems simpler and I’m not gonna use a ton of customizable stuff.

Wow! 9 loops! Mega!

Hence why I keep the TC-Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic.
However TC-Helicon made their units, they just seem to have one of the most natural harmony systems imo
you can attach a footswitch interface via usb or five pin and assign a midi command to go to the vocal effects directly read the manual for the cc number
@@manjushah8929 Thank you Manju! I just ordered a midi baby one switch. Should mount right on the pedal board. Thanks again!
Perhaps you could use the phone’s output as a fourth output option on the 600?
So the RC-600 has a total of 6 mono outputs and the headphone Jack (stereo), 8 in total, you can route all 6 tracks and the rhythms independently of you wanted to into a mixer and do what you are doing. 👍🏻
Or all 6 loops out and then your own vocals and instruments as well.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK interesting....
Bloody solid video/comparison, man!
;)
I sold my RC-50 recently, as I switched to Ableton and XSonic pedals. But I’ve had my eye on the HRush since it came out.
If i eventually go DAWless, again, I’ll probably get one. Roland products are great, but they’re sort of too generic. It kind of puts me off.
The HR is so expensive though…
Thanks again for the video.
Really really good side by side comparison. Congrats!
;)
Have a look at the Headrush price now. Certainly gone down in the UK atm.
But does that mean a Looperboard 2 is coming?… 🤷♂️
The rc50 was awesome.
Outstanding review. Thank you!
Thank you very much 🙏
Excellent comparison and review... I'm done with Boss and their crappy menu-diving interfaces... They are in dire need of touch screens...
Well they brought a touch screen into the GX-100 so there is hope… maybe one day.
A touch screen with a companion app for hands on control.
Ahhhh a man can dream.
Yeah. I feel like if they push themselves into the touchscreen
Interface, they would have easily won over Headrush.
I love the beefy sound of it on my RC300
On my headrush LB, the rhythm section sucks!!
So I love the fact that the RC600s drum machine can be used in various ways
Glad I could help. Yeah the rhythm section on the 600 is quite impressive when you in to it.

Yes. Update and factory reset sound like a win.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK I did it, it seems to be fine - except for the suddenly switching off thing. I use it everyday, I hope I will get another one!
Solid info, thanks :) ...... Is it possible to transfer loops from the RC-300 when upgrading to the RC-600?
Yes. You’ll need a PC or Mac and you can transfer them. Official way is using the Tone studio for RC which has a basic import. Unofficial way is using John Taylor’s RC-600 editor which goes into more detail.

This was very helpful, awesome comparison
Glad it was helpful. 🙏
Headrush LooperBoard now $499 all over the place.
Thanx for all your info. I'm with you. A 7" touch screen on my RC 600 might even beat a desktop editor. Either would be a huge step in a friendly direction. You are a helpful guy. Loop the world.
That’s interesting - when I made this video, it hadn’t dropped to that price.. must be in response to the RC-600 and also leading up to holidays.. great thou.
Head rush definitely!! 😊💜💭👍
How come? What’s made you decide? Just curious. 👍
I think that loopy Pro might be your answer - have a look at the Loopy Pro series and your teeth into this: th-cam.com/play/PLO36LpORUSaYsDmWvl2tqZr3flIVH2ffl.html&si=HPelDn-L6WTPvKrW
Please keep in contact and let me know how you get on. 👍🏻 😊
what would you prefer in terms of quality of effects?
RC-600. You can have lots more effects!
Hi, you use the helicon with the looper. what do you miss on the rc600?
The RC-600 has harmonies but they are not auto without midi. TC-Helicon can understand what chord you are playing and adapt without programming it. 👍🏻
Hey Kurt 👋
This is truly valid and I hear you.
You are Amazing, thanks for The Information .
Glad it was helpful!
In today's world, the HRLB is discontinued with no reason or follow up. Honestly I think I would prefer the HeadRush over the RC600 for my needs, but it's really hard to justify the large purchase of a discontinued product with no hope of support. Anybody else?
Agreed
Isn’t it funny how things transpire?
Not talking about the HRLB anymore.. but we kind of are.
thx for great and clean comparison!
More than welcome. 👍🏻
@@JohnPaulMusicUK o
Cool! Thanks for doing this!
No problem!
Your videos are great, thanks. I’m wondering if you have plans to do a Loopy vs RC 600 comparison. By the way does Lupe have a foot switch capability? Thank you so much
Hey 👋
That’s an interesting comparison and a difficult one too cause it’s not just one flagship pedal against another but two different kinds of loopers against each other.
That’s very interesting!
I’m not even using my Headrush anymore but I’ve only heard rumours.. nothing official. Maybe I need to go digging 🤔
Probably the rumours were actually of the recently released Sheeran Looper X powered by Headrush.
Fantastic review. That was amazing. I think I am going for BOSS based on this video. How do we get you the commission?

can i make 6 rigs/patches, attach them with 6 loop tracks, and turn them on with the respective 6 loop tracks when I am looping?
Yes
@@JohnPaulMusicUK
Ok, thank you very much, but would you know how many gigabytes could be stored in all the memories?
It would be a problem if the drive gets stuck because of these memory too full

I have a Digitech for small jobs and a 300 I was curious about the 600 so I found your video, thanks for all the details also comparing to the Headrest, witch is new for me. In your opinion what's the best loop when it goes to loop syncopated rhythms I play latin music...thanks in advance, thumbs up and subbed!
No problem! Best is RC-600 as you can make your own rhythms and import them as SMF files! Plus the routing, versatility, effects and just sheer quality of the 32but sound make it the best for me.
Many thanks for this video.👊👊👊
More than welcome. 🙏
can you make a video on how to control just the rhythm or guide level with an expression or 2 button pedal?
Already made - have a look at this but change it for Rhythm level instead of loop level - th-cam.com/users/shortszOGpdjXkTTs?feature=share
@@JohnPaulMusicUK I went with the rc600 and I couldn't be happier. Amazing machine! Your videos helped me lots JP! Thank you for what you do!

Rumours are circling about a version 2 but I certainly don’t know?!
Love this guy. Brilliant!
Awww thanks 🙏
Traded in the HR. Grabbed the 600 just due to the community support around it. Thanks for the response.
Have auto harmonies been added to the RC 600 yet?
Not yet.
No mention to the switch issues with the looperboad? It is a great looper but does not work properly when pressing the switches. Some people got lehle switches for it. But I sold it and got a RC600. Tougher to set up but more reliable in my opinion
Hey Daniel -it was on my mind to talk about but now Headrush use a different switch and have resolved that issue.
I used the Lehle ones on my first change over. Had issues with them too. Now using Small Bear switches and so far, no issues....🤞🤞
@@JohnPaulMusicUK be interested to see if any comments on this in the forums and Fb groups in the months to come.
@@AidanMooreacoustic hey, could you share what type of small bear switches you ended up getting?
This is exactly the problem they had with the voice live extreme! There were so many complaints about it crashing! The problem is they bring out these incredible devices that do everything but they don’t feckin test them properly 🤷🏻♀️
Yeah I think there is a rush to get them out and we end up becoming the testers. 🤷♂️
How about the boss 505 with a foot switch vs the headrush? Your thoughts?
Lots of thought.. lots! MKii would be the way to go and footswitch wise.. depends on what you need. But lots of flexibility there and a great great option.
I would totally lean towards the 505 and foot pedal setup for that. 👍🏻
I have a guitar pedal with a wet and a dry output. I’d love to record the wet and dry signal simultaneously, and separately (able to be separated) is this possible on the looperboard?
Yes. You could do that on both loopers. 👍🏻

I'm using the Looperboard with my VL3X. I just can't seem to get rid of the VL3X just yet.
TOTALLY get it! I can’t get rid of my Voicelive Play Acoustic. Had the VL3 and it’s amazing! Wish I kept it!
@@JohnPaulMusicUK I put the Play Acoustic on my board but it's missing some features I use often on the VL3X.
Even the Boss Cube Street II has auto harmony from the guitar input so that’s a big surprise the RC-600 doesn’t…
Yeah it’s crazy that it’s not in there.
I'm SO GLAD that the RC600 does NOT have a touchscreen !! That would ruin it.
That’s fair.
Great comparison! TY JP.
More than welcome 🙏
No built in Tuner on RC600
No tuner and yeah the only way round it is using something that can convert the strings to midi but that just adds more gear and strapping a weird pickup onto your guitar..
Ahhhh the holy grail.. we are forever searching!! Hahahaha
Any notice about new Headrush Looper to replace this discontinued model . . . ?
Nope. Nothing yet. 🤷♂️
Brilliant comparison and detail in this mate 👌👌
Thanks buddy! 👍🏻
Think, with your experience, your take on RC-300 vs Voicelive 3 Vs RC-600 would be interesting 👍🏻
Yes you can. You can even go one further and just allow certain inputs to be recorded on certain loops. 👍🏼

Don’t worry thou - more loopy pro content coming.. just need more time.. not enough hours in the week!
I wish I could say it stayed awesome
Such a shame really. The HRLB has all the markings of a great all in one board.. but the switches issue and the way the effects have been were just a let down.. sigh..
I have similar experience with headrush looper. I sent it to warranty repair twice but both times it came back without any improvements. It is the reason why I’m leaning to rc600 now
Awesome video! Thanks for this!!!
Welcome 🙏
I've already got an rc600 and love it to bits and to be honest i prefere to have 2 pedals for each track and i also love the track and input fx and I'm glad the rc600 has multiple pages so tbh the rc600 wins (comment down below your thoughts)!
Good choice! both are Feb and it’s totally dependent on what you want and need as a performer. I use the RC-600 over the Headrush now due to the sound quality, amount of effects and more loops.. plus the totally customisation of all the buttons is just insane!

@@JohnPaulMusicUK also please can I have a shoutout in the next video-I love your videos!!!!!!!
Here you go.. here’s a breakdown of my board - th-cam.com/video/Zc4bcpQJ7cM/w-d-xo.html
And yes the FS-7 is connected to the RC-600.. all explained in the video
@@JohnPaulMusicUK thanks so much for the info
Yeah want that touch screen on an RC-600. Do love the routing page on the HRLB.
Very clear and clever.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK even if they used the touch screen from the GX100 which is the same chasis. That would be a big improvement.
Hey Chris you wouldn’t have sold it on reverb because the one iam looking at mentions the same specs
@@manfredworner8528 are you asking if I sold it on reverb ? You’re looking at one now on reverb? Sorry I don’t understand…
@@sugarprobe hi Chris iam about to purchase one on reverb today and the add mentioned that they replaced the switches with same lehle switches or did you sell it already if so sorry for the confusion cheers 🇨🇦👍😎
They both crash. I've experienced it first hand. System error 3071 on the RC600, and the headrush just freezes.
Awww you’ve had a nightmare there! Are you using either of them as your main or anything else for looping?
Pricewise in Dez 2022 on the used market its 450 EUR (Boss) vs 550 EUR (HR)...
Interesting. 👍🏻
Head rush I own and I own the rc 300… but the head rush has lots of issues
It’s not perfect, I agree but I does have some good advantages.
We are always looking for that ‘holy grail’ looper! 😂
The issues that remain are these:
01: No guitar tuner? WTF that seems like an oversight, I can't believe its not included.
02: Like most everyone else, I wish there was an auto vocal harmonizer
03: More ASSIGNS!
They need a SERIOUSLY updated editor (really impressed with how easy and simply the FS-1-WL editor is on the phone) and allow access for us all to have fader and pan controls without using up consumer assigns.
Or just give us like 50 of them! 😆
How about Aeros looper?
It’s one I have never owned.
Maybe they can lend me one and I can test it.
What do you mean 1.5 hours per memory? Memory?
It has a record memory of 13 hours total and up to 1.5hrs per memory. On the RC-600 there are 99 memories.
You could technically have a 90min audio file on one memory of you wanted?!?! Crazy amount of storage!
HR just dropped to $499 USD. I think it now takes the cake considering the other differences.
🤩 Does that mean Headrush are bringing a new one out?
😬 😱 or just being super competitive with Boss?
@@JohnPaulMusicUK my guess is they are probably not selling at the price point they were at and trying to compete better with the 600.
I guess I will go with the head rush
Thanks in advance!
no it does not but you can attach your sdrum via midi to the headrush and slave the headrush to sdrum. another alternative is the beatbuddy
afriad not but what Manju said is correct.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK thanks guys. Ugh. This was so close to being perfect.
@@JohnPaulMusicUK i have the sdrum connected with a midi cable and HRLB global
Settings-midi clock receive “on” but the tempo doesn’t appear to match and when I push a tracks record button it only arms the track never “starts” to record. WTH? Drums sound great but the sdrum isn’t controlling the LB and I can’t record on any track.
@@manjushah8929 are you able to record on tracks when the beat buddy is connected with midi? Sdrum doesn’t seem to work so far.
You must dream about looper boards ha
I certainly do! 🤣
Like making music on s huge pedalboard get looperboard like scrolling endlessly through submenus than rc600
So the looperboard is the winner for you?
🔥🔥🔥
Why have they still not got this right?! You still have to spend all night bent over faffing about with settings! They need to put the software on a tablet so you can control it with both your feet and your hands! Tadaaaaaaaa! However it does look to me that the head rush is the easiest to use?
There is a guy making independent software for the RC-600 which looks sick but is windows only at the mo.
You are right but once you have things the way you want them, you can save it and shouldn’t have to bend down to control it. I Certainly don’t. 👍🏻
What this newbie took away. Headrush is Apple and Boss is Linux. Headrush is artist friendly, Boss is engineer friendly. Lol
Haha. Never heard it put like that before. Like the analogy.
Looperboard still does not sync to midi
It’s a shame
Egyszerű a választás: a Headrush-t NEM lehet frissíteni(!!!) Alap verzióban küldik, az elérhető funkciók felével. Hiába keresed őket, nem reagálnak semmire!!! NEHOGY eszedbe jusson megvenni!
Az rc 600-ban bizhatsz, kicsit nehezebb megtanulni.
