      Kamla Persad-Bissessar was the prime minister. Our president is the head of state. But not Parliament. Also, while this is an accurate representation of what Cambridge Analytica does, it is not an accurate depiction of my country. Trinidad and Tobago is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, and multi-cultural country. In addition to both African and Indian populations, we also have significant minority groups: Europeans, Chinese, Middle Easterners, and those with ancestors in Syria and Lebanon. These groups and people of mixed decent can often be seen as "swing voters". The reality is that, like the United States, we are a two party state. As you have Republicans and Democrats, we have the United National Congress and the People's National Movement. Mrs. Bissessar
      led a coalition government of the UNC and other parties, including COP, TOP, NJAC, and MSJ. Without this coalition, the UNC would have likely lost the election. Additionally, she unseated the former Prime Minister, Patrick Manning, and the former leader of the opposition and a former Prime Minister, Basdeo Panday. Both of whom were popular but rife with corruption scandals. This video is an insult to my country. It is an insult to our former prime minister. And is also an insult to African and Indian people because we all know in Trinidad and Tobago, that irrespective of the colour of our skin, every creed and race has an equal place. It is in our national anthem, and we have enshrined in our constitution that every citizen of this country is protected. Whoever gets politicians elected in this country is a big business person. Sponsorships, friends, and financiers of both governments. It is likely the outcome would have been the same. So you can feel justified in knowing that Cambridge Analytica was a dishonest and manipulative company. But I can assure you, as a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, that this video is only one very small side of the true story. Thank you.

      @luke.louren. All you say about us being multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-religious is all true... outside of politics, but it's a naively idealistic understanding of how we act when it comes to politics, when it comes to how we act when we vote this video is absolutely complete truth. There is no "insult" to our former Prime Minister, this exactly what happened and what she chose to do, and it's even less of an insult when you realise that there was no end to the corruption with them, in fact it became more overt (Section 34, LifeSport, etc.)

    If you think using logic and reasoning then its very difficult to manipulate you. If you think with your biases and your emotions then Cambridge Analytica loves you.

    • @smilefenn4813
      @smilefenn4813 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      literally no they will still understand your political bias if you use logic and reasoning and will put u in a demographic. as long as you have a personality you have opinions, in fact your logic and reasoning further strengthen your opinions. and companies like this will use ur opinions against you by categorising you and feeding you propaganda without you realising it. sure, try to use ur logic and reasoning against it, but at the end of the day they will win unfortunately, they know everything you're thinking.

    • @amohammed3337
      @amohammed3337 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @smilefenn4813 If you are intelligent enough to understand how they work, then you are intelligent enough to figure out how to counter them.
      Applying logic, reasoning, critical thinking and common sense without bias is sufficient to counter their efforts.
      Unfortunately, most people allow their emotions and feelings to influence their conclusions and this is why CA can be so effective.

    Everything is "rigged" nothing new under the sun - it's just becoming more sophisticated.

    • @86SuperRay
      @86SuperRay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the worst part is they can rig it without really "rigging" it. it's all about influence over direct rigging. you go and manipulate the brains and manipulate the minds of the voters, and they do the voting for you without you having to change their votes and indicting yourself. thus, you escape legal liability (sometimes) and can claim innocence.
      reminds me of that poirot detective episode about that one murderer who never actually murdered anybody. instead, he manipulated and lied his way into people's heads to get them to their breaking point and do the murdering for him. so he would have never been arrested on any legal basis, and poirot had to kill him and stop him himself because he knew what he was doing but could never quite stop him using the legal system

To the uninformed, there were a litany of issues that could have affected the downfall of the then Gov't, ranging from corruption and mismanagement, to antipathy by the person who is currently the PM. To ignore the fact that the ground support for the then Gov't was weak, or that the strategy of not splitting votes, hence the coalition of the PP, the party that eventually won 29 out of 41 seats some in areas they could only dream of winning, coupled with the fact that the elected PM would become the country's first female PM, and rode a wave of support, is, to be blunt, ignorant.
