Tim Gingell how can people deny my statement when this, the Panama papers and Snowden files- the 3 greatest pieces of investigative whistleblower journalism of the last decade have all come from the guardian? Sure every outlet has an agenda but some agendas can be more positive than others.
Take one citizen's experience as an example.
In 2016 presidential election season, I was so busy with my own life, so I didn't pay much attention to it and didn't even vote. But, I remember vividly wherever I turned I felt very strange why Hillary was so negatively perceived to a extent she was a villain. I felt strange because she was not attacked for her policies or as a politician but she was a villain.
Then, I watched my hometown (Taipei Taiwan) talkshow program on youtube. I was surprised one of the pundits had such a negative impression about Hillary (her tone made me feel she meant Hillary was a villain.) At that time, I realized the far-reaching Internet can make someone so far away and so irrelevant have such a negative feeling about someone who the pundit didn't know at all.
So I have always felt the sentiment and the result of this election must be manipulated and affected by a powerful force. It was not the election--even though I didn't engage much--as all previous elections I had experienced since living in US for 30 years

Nor did they tell her to support bank deregulation, or support the removal of democratically elected presidents in Honduras and the Ukraine. She was the second least popular presidential candidate in modern US history, and it was because of her record of fighting against democracies abroad and for Wall Street at home.

FB allowed Dr Aleksandr Kogan of Cambridge University to collect the data via an app from FB accounts in USA, Kogan sold the data to CA. Kogan whilst based at Cambridge University is also employed by St Petersburg University and receives funds separately from Russia.
If Kogan is prepared to illegally sell data to CA, it’s not too much of a stretch to believe that he would also sell the data to Russia.
Guilty or not, Kogan must be feeling uncomfortable.
