@@nsnopper Yes, both myself and many women I knew. To make it even more frightening, for many years I daily commuted along a stretch of highway hunted by a rapist known to impersonate law enforcement (uniforms and decked out car). He escalated and I think killed two women before they finally made the effort to catch him. Though "made the effort" may be overly harsh; I despise most police officers; some suburbs have great police departments, most don't, and officers fit in or move on. For what it's worth, in my 50s I apparently graduated from sexual harassment to old biddy / looks homeless harassment; then a casual conversation with a mosquito inspector unexpectedly solved several neighborhood problems with police. I think it may be changing, slowly.

The cops thought she was drunk , they screamed at her to get out of the car she couldn’t speak! They ended up shooting her with a stun gun and she started screaming. Then they hit her pulled her out of the car -hog tied her and 3 or more cops were on top of her. Now she suffers night terrors and PTSDC and seizures , WHY? Why would the cops do this to her? There are no good cops except for whistleblowing cops. Other people know what the bad ones do. They talk and they cover for each other. In Atlanta there was a major jewelry thief gang breaking into jewelry stores. My friend sold safes to all the jewelers and they would call him because their safes had a square hole with the steel pulled back neatly around the square-a robbery and a hole that took major hours to make-why and how did they take so long? Most criminals take 5 miniures ot less in and out... -So he did some investigation and he asked a ton of questions from all these store owners and then he also stakes out some nights and watched one of these robberies happen. It was the cops themselves. They would block off the alley behind the shopping center and have a cop car in the front as well so no one would pull in-then they would disable what they could and also have any dispatcher delay reports from alarm companies-falsify times etc to cover up...The store owners would all think some great cops were out watching and protecting the stores and instead they were being robbed by uniformed officers. After Atlanta got too hot for them -partly because my friend quietly and discreetly passed the word-even in fear of his life-they packed up and went first to Chicago and did the same thing and then LA for a while...Millions of dollars were taken in just a few stores...This was in the 1990’s-early 2000s. Who knows where they are pulling this now...My friend is dead from Cancer now which is why I don’t have fears for them hurting him. Bad cops float around and everyone else covers for them.

The bad ones abuse their authority, have a God complex are manipulative, cocky and how is it that the public can not lie to cops but they can lie to us all the time! This is really sad this woman was just trying to get home from work safely so she asks the cops to look out for her and this one looked after her as prey! All cops should have a psychiatric evaluation and regular therapy. This doesn’t apply to the wonderful polite and trustworthy ones who we are thankful for but the let’s say below average and ordinary ones that abuse the authority they’ve been given.

What bothers me is that this isn't an isolated case of a police officer pulling over a young woman on false pretenses, assaulting or attempting to assault her, then murdering her. Although we can't blindly trust police officers, do we have a choice not to? It seems far more common that citizens meet with violence, arrest and false allegations for even hesitating to obey the instructions of an officer of the law - they do, after all, have the power to charge me.

Watching US body cam footage it's obvious anyone can get a badge over there and that training is often bad even when they do have good people.

It was a total lack of training that they missed the clues as to what was really taking place, and saw her as a typical, hysterical young woman, and him as the victim! Being the creep he was, he let her take the blame! I heard that the cops in that case now see the error of their ways, and more in-depth training is planned, but way too late for that precious young lady! RIP Kara Knott. “Officer” Peyer was the reason many women in So. Cal and more specifically, San Diego, will drive a mile or more on a dark road, while a police car with its lights on will just have to follow until a safe and well lighted area is reached. That became the common sense way to feel any measure of security during an attempted traffic stop. It did seem like LE wasn’t going to be understanding either. I suppose they finally gave in?
Lucky for me, I haven’t been involved in any stop since 1988 but if I were being pulled over and I felt unsafe, I’d keep driving until I could locate a reasonably lighted/secure place. That hasn’t changed in all these years (I taught my daughter the same thing) and it’s directly because of what happened to Kara Knott.
BTW, the stretch of I-15 over the formerly dead end road in Poway where Peyer had directed the women he stopped to drive to has been named The Kara Knott Memorial Highway.

The most obvious video evidence supporting my contention is the compression underwear he wore that is present when he was interrogated made his actions as described by his accusers impossible. Then there is the fact at least one of his accusers has actually retracted her claims and there are major problems with the other accusers stories. In my opinion the now retired detective that brought Holzclaw up on charges needs to be investigated.
