Yeah, that body exclusion zone thing always gets ya. Earlier today, I thought about trying to land on the Moon, but knew it wouldn't let me, & didn't have time to just fly around the moon for hours.
I wonder why they won’t let us land on the moon. Most of it hasn’t been scouted, and the basic shape is only scouted. They can just make it colonized like crazy, without an atmosphere.
there should be a mod or addon or something for that lol. Unofficial earth landing mod for elite dangerous, complete with the ships and cockpits and everything. It could swap to a flight sim upon entering earth and load up an exact copy of your ship and your cockpit and stuff and you could fly around and land and stuff. Then you could just fly up and back to space and it swaps back to elite. That actually sounds cool someone should make it. It would probably have copyright issues though if it used the ships. Maybe it could use a landing craft deployed from your ship, well with our imaginations and perhaps some cutscenes
One thing that many commanders completely miss the boat on is whether it’s an unlandable planet or a star, you can totally enter the atmosphere and hit an exclusion zone and get unbelievable views even though you can’t land, with a star just make sure you have heat sinks so that you can vector back out but there’s no other way to get these breathtaking views unless you drop out of super cruise deep in atmo. Every time you do this with a star you lose about one percent hull which is no big deal. Just make sure that you get good at using the Camera suite to get really awesome shots
@@_The_Specter_ i keep seeing the comparison since i started playing elite but i think it's stupid to compare. they are different games clearly not trying to be competitors. sc has a ton more little details and gimmicks and stuff but overall it is an incomplete game in many ways. ed lacks intricate details but it has been released as a complete game for almost a decade and continuing to receive improvements. the point of ed is to simulate a 1:1 milky way. the point of sc is to simulate operating a spaceship. much like war thunder vs dcs (combat vs flipping switches being the focal point). and with only four planets and twelve moons to explore not even large scale yeah I'd say we would hop back on to elite pretty quick lol. elite gotta up their game with more details. sc gotta up their game with much much larger galaxy.

We all wanted interiors for our ships and FDev said they don't plan to add those. It's doubtful we will ever be able to land on earthlike worlds in ED. Personally I just wish we could take the best of both games and merge them into one.
Why can't you land on the earth or probably the moon even? Probably because they have no bases there for the fps addition? I guess our planet's too boring? Weird and annoying. Checking out Mars or Venus or other planets in our solar system would be interesting too.

They aren't just pocketing it. Last year they made over $113 million dollars but after paying employees and covering expenses they were left with about $300k (if memory serves correctly) . Which honestly isn't a lot from a business perspective. They also plan on increasing their workforce by about 15% which would increase expenses further.

i know this comment was from 2 years ago but i figured id reply anyways XD, ive played atleast a couple hundred hours of star citizen before i played ed and idk... star citizen has to actually get their game working man, i cant tell you the amount of time ive wasted because i cant do a mission even tho im at the end cuz it bugged out, then the next mission bugs out, then i have to restart the game because something else happened. and its not just missions either, you try to do anything in that game and youll run into some sort of bug that keeps you from doing it ... its so buggy that its hard to even be able to play the game alot of the time, and then if you dont store your ship before they put out a big patch its just gone.. ive lost a reclaimer, a2 and countless other ships because of that, its just nonsense, especially when those ships cost tens of millions, and without them its a GRINDFEST to get back to what i already had... not to mention the amount of planets is a VERY small fraction of what ed has, as ed is a 1 to 1 scale to our own milky way galaxy and only .5% has been discovered. imo sc will be cool in the future, but right now its an absolute chore to play VERY cool game and the server meshing will be revolutionary when its finished but right now the game just straight up dosent work most of the time
