My heart bleeds for her mother. There is no greater pain than loosing own children. I respect you and your daughter. Its a shame; such a tragic story was unknown to me until when i came to know about the film.

Its painful to see a brave not being recognized. America considers itself the land of the brave, yet it discriminates against a woman who shielded American kids and took bullets and lost her life. Her mother goes on to say....its the same blood that runs in all of us, no matter who we are or where we are from.

I'm American white. I'm married to an amazing Indian man. I'm saddened that the whole American society is being blamed for some bad apples. I agree racism is alive and well. Everybody is against everybody. I'm very sorry and I apologize for any ignorance my people do. But also know that I am an American I do not have any ill feelings towards Indian people. Or any race for that matter. I just hope you stop blaming all for a few dirty ones. I think indians are wonderful beings. And India is a great nation. What Neerja did putting her life before Anyone else proves she was very brave for what she did and I admire her for her bravery. She was so beautiful and lost her life way to soon. I will always be great full for what she has done not only for india, for America, for UK, for every nationality of race that was on the flight that day. She is the true hero! God bless her soul. God has an angel she was too good for this world & god called her back home very fast. As for the terrorist, they hate everyone does not matter creed, nationality, race. They only know the language of hate. they hate they're own people. These monsters don't deserve they're 15mins of fame. Neerja, you've been gone many years now, if you can feel the vibration of peoples love after 20+ Years your name still is fresh in people's minds and i hope you understand the love we all have for you and what you did I surely hope god has given you the privilege of moksh. You dear, saved so many we will be forever thankful and honored for you. We love you Neerja. God bless you.

+Cheryl Tindwani We dont hate Americans. We hate American foreign policies which destroyed our world. Americans funded Jihadists in Pakistan and Afghanistan during soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Americans destroyed Iraq on false lies and led way to ISIS. Europe is suffering now from refugee crisis. This woman deserves american recognition for bravery. Americans are going to elect Donald Trump to make this world again unsafe. American government is supporting Saudi which finanzes ISIS and propagates Wahabbi Islam all around the world. Human rights and democracy is not just for white folks. When there were pro democracy protests in Baharain, it was suppressed by saudi military. Americans should have supported these protestors, but silently backed Saudi

+TheMotorman You are filled with venom. You were being racist and I didn't quite like that. Americans, Arabs, Syrians, Or Britishers,no mater where those 2 pilots hailed from, doesn't define their country. Perhaps they were stupid, but try to put yourself in that situation.Wouldn't you get terrified and run for your life?. I'm in no way, justifying their actions right. what they did was NOT right. It was the a horrible thing to do but judging a nation based on the actions of a few people is wrong. Also, I'm part indian, and I love my country. I think you need to scroll back up and read my comment again. The world knows about 16th December Damimi gang rape. So am I supposed to deem all Indian men as rapists? No I won't do that. You shouldn't either. You got offened as soon as I called out India didn't you. Every country has its own flaws and being racist is the most disgusting thing ever. Its nice to be nice.
P.S I don't want to pursue this argument hereafter.
      Have a nice day.

I am south american and I remember watching the movie Neerja on Netflix a few years ago.
I had never heard about her or her before, and after watching the movie i was so impacted i had to look her up online and know more about her and her story. This woman was a real like heroine, she should be known world wide. I never forgot her name all these years. She was so young too.
It is surpising to me that so few people know about her in the west, specially considering that she saved so many americans and other westerners. She shoukd be hailed as a hero not only in india, but in the west too. Makes me wonder how many other brave women we dont know about... i know about her merely beacuse i decided to watch that movie one evening, and here I am many years later going back to revisit her story.
I feel for her mother, i wish i could understand what shes saying, but she should be very proud, her daughter gave up her life so many other could keep theirs. She was a beautiful human being Inside and out
    RIP Neerja

First off all, I think Ms. Rama Bhanot's interview here and her words have been misconstrued by some people here posting comments who just do not understand the essence of this story. She has never once said that Americans are discriminating against Indians in this day and age. She is only saying that her daughter's sacrifice in giving her own life that day went unrecognized by the American government at that time. I completely understand where she is coming from and Neerja was a brave, beautiful and now a role model to all woman in the world. Her story and her sacrifice should be heard and acknowledged by all people of the world. So stop with all the hate comments "Neerja" herself would not agree with any of you spreading all the non sense and hatred here.
