  • Such a controlled Chaos. These guys are veterans and it shows. Looked like they were just having fun with friends. They have their own color and personality thing going on, in their music. Impressed again with all the different talents mixing together.

Seventeen are most well known for their choreography/performance ability and don't get me wrong because they literally created the current standard of dancing and choreography when it comes to the current generation of kpop, but one of the reasons why their performance as a whole is because of how they utilize their voices and each member to their strength. Like they're very well known for putting on the best concerts but it's not just because they're good at dancing, it's because their strength as a self producing group who's also worked with almost the same staff for 10 years now they know exactly how to put on a show where each person and unit covers any sort of weakness they could have.
The thing about them is that they're all (and I mean every single member) very hardworking to the point where even when they're on "breaks" they're always practicing and improving and that is why they have longevity. They're an 8 year old group who's only getting more and more attention and success as time goes on and steadily progressing and I think it's so impressive because I would understand if they weren't like this after doing this job for 10-12 years (if you count their trainee days). Like not every kpop group has this much ambition to reach the heights seventeen has and more. They even renewed their contracts an entire year earlier which is so difficult because imagine negotiating contracts with 13 people who have their own opinions and ambitions even though they were always going to stay together, but Seventeen are the only large group who's ever renewed contracts without a member leaving and one of the few groups in general from 3rd gen.
I think all of this is because every member has always been able to contribute their own opinions and art into the group because they all share the same goals. The entire reason why they became self produced wasn't because they wanted to show off their skills or anything because they were just teenagers at the time, but because their company was in a financial crisis and their debut was pushed back for 2 years due to lack of funding so in that time Woozi (the shorter blond one with the white shirt) started to learn how to produce from their vocal coach (Bumzu who's always credited with Woozi on Seventeen songs) and Hoshi & Dino (svt maknae who was all the way on the right in this video) who are the main dancers started to learn how to choreograph. Then slowly all the members started contributing even in the smallest details like helping the hair stylists do the members' hair because there weren't enough for 13 people. It started out of necessity and now they naturally just contribute to basically everything whether it's their variety shows (going seventeen is literally 80% built on the members' opinions), to the music & choreography, down to their fashion and styling, etc.
(sorry for the long comment because I probably rambled and repeated somethings lol. But, I feel about Seventeen how I feel about BTS and it's that if it wasn't for the specific combination of people and circumstances they wouldn't have worked out the way they did. Like Seventeen didn't immediately succeed and disbandment was literally hanging over their heads due to lack of funding for the first few years, but they steadily got to where they are today and it's attributed to the members who could basically only hold on and give their everything to this job. Seventeen right now is directly after BTS when it comes to success/achievements (I'm not saying they're competition or anything so no one gets the wrong idea bcs BTS' achievements are almost unfathomed, but Seventeen are definitely up especially since every single album and comeback for the past 6 years keeps surpassing their previous one)).

      @El-vq8tx ปีที่แล้ว +35

@@komerican-og So my favorite thing about Seventeen’s choreography is that they pay a lot of attention to small details and formations. Like they don’t just make large movements that kind of feel empty to me in some kpop choreographies, but they incorporate so many small movements that just show off their musicality and you can just tell that it’s Hoshi & the Performance Unit’s signature. Even when they receive choreographies from other people, the Performance team always alters it (almost transforms it lol) to fit the group and their song.
I definitely recommend their “Don’t Wanna Cry” dance practice. I think it’s one of their most difficult from a dancer’s perspective because while it’s not the most flashy that they have, it requires so much body control. Their “Home;Run” dance practice has a more theatrical feel and I feel like it’s the kind of choreography I can only see coming from Seventeen. For unique choreographies, I recommend their “24H” dance practice & “Fallin’ Flower”. Their choreography for “Thanks” is also incredible.
You can honestly pick any choreography from both title tracks and b-sides and it will always be good I can almost guarantee it. There are some groups where I always feel like certain choreos don’t fit the song like they’re mismatched and I’ve never felt that way about Seventeen. So you can literally choose any song, but I’m just recommending my current favorites to you so maybe as a starting point. There some I’m for sure missing, but these are the songs I could think of at the top of my head.
My “go watch it RIGHT NOW” recommendations are definitely Fallin’ Flower & Home;Run.
These are my current faves dance practices:
      Fallin’ Flower
      Thanks
      24H
      Home;Run
      Don’t Wanna Cry
Left & Right (this one is just fun and just shows how much the members enjoy dancing and their energy just bounces off of each other so well)

Woozi is the smaller dude with distinct face😊 and yes it's crazy how all their different voices can make up such great songs, and for a long-time fan it has been a journey. Just like most groups with lots of members, some members who are not in vocal-line or main rappers used to have shorter parts in songs, but now Seventeen is probably one of the groups with the most fair line distribution in songs. Literally any member can do the chorus of a song and I love them so much for this. The improvement of vocals and the opportunities given to all members are very inspiring. Love your reaction, hope you'll do another Seventeen again :)

Woozi is the shortest member and I guess his visuals stand out a bit. He's our beloved producer and vocal unit leader. Him and hoshi were the two tragic victims of the face the sun eyebrow bleachings.
In this vid the line distribution was more focused on certain members, like vernon (the rapper with the two tone jacket). Additionally, wonwoo (the one with glasses and a striped shirt) didn't have many lines since his mom passed way close to this video being filmed and they probably didn't want to put any pressure on him.
Although I think there is a distinct seventeen sound, but this vid doesn't really showcase the amazing diversity of seventeens discography. Like even some title tracks have a whole other vibe.

their chemistry is great i swear so many people asked them how they do it specially singing perfectly while dancing with hard choreography it's like 13 member's shoulder and legs r in perfect sync .. they said all memebrs r living together since childhood and practiced so much together that it's literally became normal things for them ..these guys knows how to have fun on stage and how to put great performance all the times ..there r no kpop group who survived with so many memebrs for a long time but seventeen did and renew their contract even their foreign memebrs which is very rare in the kpop industry...... . also the guys with glass his name is wonwoo he seems pretty quite here actually he came back from hiatus because of his mother death that's why

On around 7:29 I think you misunderstood a little about what was said. They said that the song (A-TEEN) is their OST song that ranked number 1 on charts, but that's not their first time. Their first win is actually on 2016, around 1 year after their debut, with the song Pretty U, which they sang in around 4:25. They mentioned that it's their first win too in the video ^^

I think the thing I really appreciate with Woozi is that despite him working on the albums and songs, he knew to make it fit seventeen's mould and their individual/collective sounds with a fair distribution the more he's involved and not just take advantage of it to only make himself shine. Cause sometimes he also shares the demo version to us on vlive etc and even hearing it we know he can kill certain parts in his own way but he knew best what to do. Instead he would make himself the backup vocals or the layer vocals to make his members' voice shine even more. He did say he can work with confidence because it's a seventeen album and every member helps him a lot alongside being the ones who love his music the most, and i find that so endearing

Thank you for reacting, sir. As one of the older Carats (in the same age range of the parents of these wonderful guys), I have one great tip for new fans: whenever you're feeling down or just having an awful day, watch one of their Going Seventeen episodes. They will have you laughing within minutes and brighten up your mood and day!!!
I discovered them in 2017 and refused becoming a fan as I had already fallen for four other male K-pop groups and found that that was enough. Still, in 2017 I watched them being guests in a variety show, and that was it. I fell so hard for Seventeen that they are the only one group that I follow on a daily base (listen to their music and watching their going Seventeen episodes) alongside SHINee.
I still want to adopt them all but my two sons don't agree with that, LOL.

There are 13 members in Seventeen (13 members + 3 unit (vocal, hip hop, performance) + as 1 team = 17). They are all rounder and very talented, all can sing, dance and rap. They are also known for their synchronized dance and stable singing while dancing.
Woozi, our main lyricist as well as main producer and composer is the shortest one in the group. Other members also taking part in the song making (for example, hip hop unit aka rappers wrote their own lyrics/rap for the songs).
And yes, Joshua and Vernon (the one in b&wwl jacket) are english speaker. They both born in US. Vernon is actually half american (his mom is american). For Joshua, he was born and lived in US until before he came to korea. Currently his parents live there (both are koreans).
There are also 2 Chinese members: Jun and The8 (myungho/minghao). Both are in the performance unit. Performance unit work together with dancers team in making the choreo.
Hoping you can react other songs from them and checking out their live performances.

  • @BeverlyPennell

The shorter one--Woozi--is the producer/composer/writer of all their music. He's VERY casual in this video, and much more visual in their MVs. He's VERY introverted, so he doesn't try to stand out. In fact, he's very happy remaining in the background. He's considered THE VoBo (Voice Boss) and is leader of the Vocals sub-unit group.
Hoshi (in the black leather jacket and white hair) is their choreographer and leader of the Performance sub-nit group. S.Coups (one with two-toned hair on the left) is not only THE MAIN leader of the group, but leader of the Hip-Hop sub-unit group (rappers). They ALL can sing and dance.
Vernon (rapper on the far right) and Joshua (curly hair) are American-Korean, born in the USA, so their English is great. Jun (sandy blonde standing to the left of Hoshi) and The8 (red hair) are from China.
The comedians of the group are DK (the one with the VERY amazing vocals), Seungkwan (the blonde who is a stellar vocalist) and Hoshi. Talk about chaotic...the whole group is HILARIOUS! You should watch some of their "Going Seventeen" (GOSE) monthly shows.
Even though you're focused on the vocals, watch their dance practice videos. These guys perform some of THE MOST difficult choreo on K-Pop. They're also known as THE Synchronzation Kings because they're SO PERFECT. You've just met the MOST LOVED "healing" and positive energy group in K-Pop!

I'm usually the style to randomly stumble accross songs and listen if I like it or listen to OST. Funnily I knew Seventeen since 2018 or so since I had listen to a song of theirs which was the OST of drama Ateen. And I stumbled across Dont Wanna Cry in 2020 and it has been my ringtone since. Yet I became a carat in 2022 haha. But seriously they are amazinggg at everything they do. The singing, the dancing, the variety, the entertainment, being self produced everything and they drew me in rather that me trying to get into them and hence I became a carat!
Also since you were curious, Woozi is the short dude you mentioned. And since you mentioned the 4 rappers and were curious.
The rappers are S.coups (leader of SVT and hiphop team, he had a mullet and was second from left), Wonwoo (glasses+black and white stripe. He had less lines here since I think members were giving him space because this was recorded sometime after his mother pass away), Mingyu and Vernon (you caught them both, you noticed Vernon frist and then Mingyu).
Vocal Team is Woozi (Vocal leader, short with distinct features),Jeonghan (who was at left most spot), Joshua (who was good at english, he is from LA, Korean-american, even Vernon is good in english he is mixed Korean+American), Seungkwan (blonde who sang that high note), DK (Dokyeom, whom you noticed for singing).
Performance team is Hoshi (Performance Leader, I think you know him), Dino (maknae was at right most position), The8 (red hair), Jun (was next to Hoshi)
Sorry for the long comment and I know I mentioned all the members but since they are 13 of them initially it might be hard to process. :)

Hi! If you loved Seventeen in Killing Voice, I'd also recommend checking out NCT 127's appearance in Killing Voice. They're a 9-member unit also with various vocal tones and songs in various genres. :)
