    You simply gotta love Steve. Just look at this face, just look at his smile. He is such a talented and gifted artist, and yet such a humble, modest and decent person. There is no attitude, no false pretenses. Just honesty. Take the moment towards the end of the talk when Neal invites him to say something he wants to say and Steve starts singing the host's praises instead of talking about himself. That's how he is. Amazing. This last section of the talk then turns out to be one of the most precious ones. Thank both of you Morses so much for this conversation 👍🏼💓😍!

    Really great conversation. I've been a Steve Morse fan since Free Fall by the Dregs. I was employed at Gibson Guitars here in Nashville and was driving to work one morning. Refried Funky Chicken came on the radio and I just about drove off the road. I was totally blow away. I bought the album as soon as I got off work that day. If you were riding in the car with me you were listening to the Dregs. I saw them many times at the Exit Inn as well as Vanderbilt and the old Tennessee Theater downtown. I love your music too Neal. God bless you and keep spreading the word.

    Hi Neal. Great interview. I especially enjoyed the last conversation you had with Steve about Christianity and lyrics. Very profound, and pretty much falls in line with remembering that Christ always spoke in parables. So, it sounds like Kerry and you got it right. 👍 Thanks for the fantastic interview.

    Met Steve in '91 at the Palomino in North Hollywood when touring with Albert Lee. Mrs. Lee and kid selling memorabilia and Steve going to the bar to get his water between tunes. What a treat when EVH and Lukather dropped in. Those were the days...Holy crap -- 30 years ago.

    As an (almost) lifetime Christian - one of the (many) things I like about Neal & Kerry is that they live their faith w/o being preachy or condescending - this is the real life application of "let he who has not sinned throw the 1st stone" :^)

    Steve is my favorite player, greatest influence, and one of the most underappreciated composers in modern history. His understanding of counterpoint and melody is unique in his field.

    Two Morse(s) in one podcast! Yes!
    Love these conversations about music and your faith.
    I met Steve Morse at Dregs reunion tour in 1993 and I always say that he was one of the most humble (big time) musicians I had ever met. His love of music and his desire to play music no matter what still resonates with me.
    Thanks for this conversation.

    I’m really enjoying this series Neal, it’s great to just hear you talking about stuff, it’s just so surprising what you can learn. Love all your music from flying Color’s to NMB, and all the different bands and music your all involved in. Your all so under appreciated. I’ll keep listening and trying to learn. And just enjoy. Cheers 🥂

    Ok I'm just gonna say this...Neal Morse is the James Patterson of rock. Perhaps a little too prolific. As for Steve Morse...one of the most remarkable guitarists of all time. To me Steve belongs in the "strictly instrumental" category. It's too bad that the Dixie Dregs couldn't sustain his career, being in Kansas and Deep Purple and now Flying Colors just doesn't work for me. Steve needs to be out front playing "Country House Shuffle" or "Ice Cakes" or "Odyssey"...that's where he belongs, not in a vocal group setting.

    • @davidmomberg8208
      @davidmomberg8208 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sorry Tim I couldn't disagree more at least where his work with Flying colors is concerned. I think it works perfectly, and his regular bassist Dave larue also.

    • @charlieknowlton7003
      @charlieknowlton7003 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Even though I think Neal and Casey are the primary writers of the lyrics and melodies, at the outset, it was Steve, I believe , that expressed that Flying Colors should have plenty of vocals and harmonies.

    • @MrMusicweekly
      @MrMusicweekly 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timwhite5647 Let me start with a caveat that, nothing will ever be like any of the songs you mentioned. Because well different band with a different goal. But, what really got me into Flying Colors was "Open up your eyes". Lots of great moments for all the band members and I can hear Steve's melodies in my head now, even though I haven't listened in a few weeks.
