Very cool set Al! It looks and runs great. It’s funny for me to see the catalog. I have my Father’s set 6-11550 just above your set that I was able match up the components to my set as well. I too have a few of the same components as your with the #6463 Rodeo Car, the Orange and Black #6465 Tank car, and the Black #6176 Hopper Car, rounding it off with the #6119-100 Work Caboose. I should locate a catalog in nice shape like yours for my collection to add it to my Father’s set. This way my 3 sons will have something to show their children some day.
Set is in nice condition. I have a few locomotives from this era. I thought I would never own one. I thought they were very unrealistic looking. But after owning a few. They actually are very good runners. They hold the track nice. I own real horses 🐎 and of course I’m a Lionel guy. But I don’t have the horse car in my collection. I need to purchase that car and scratch it off my want list.
One of the best Al. After Santa Fe the Texas Special is by far my favorite…maybe even tied. Love ‘em all the 2245 210 211 and 1055.

Everyone was cheapening their products then. Gilbert was using the Pikemaster couplers and trucks. Pure junk.
