    Random question for today; do you think that Stallord from Twilight Princess is a Leviathan? I have my doubts as the term is used to describe a "sea monster" or "whale". Anyways, have a Sunday!

      If we use the word "Lethiathan" in relation to a giant beast, and not focus on whether it was water based or not, it would be considered a lethiathan, on par with its size and such.
      Also, do you remember the creepy beasts from the master works? Such as the spider covered with eyes and chains, or the wierd, three-legged twig looking beast? Mabye these fossils are of creatures of similar size. Imagine one of those giant things running towards you like a action horror movie, like pacific rim...

    I just wonder if all these fossil, which were usually rarely seen if at all in Zelda games, were dug out when the Hylians searched for Shiekah technology 100 years ago. That would explain their preservation.

      @Adahn99 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The drought theory probably refers to a period after Spirit Tracks, when Hyrule finally resurfaced from under the sea. Since it is after one of the 3 timeline-ending games, the reason you couldn't find those skeletons before is that they weren't there, the creatures they belonged to probably died closer to BotW than to any other game

      @@Adahn99 Actually Spirit Tracks is referred to a new Hyrule that was found after Windwaker Link and Tetra's sea exploration. Spirit Tracks is the result of hundred of years since they first discovered it and made it the new Hyrule. Old drowned Hyrule was never resurfaced.

    • @Adahn99
      @Adahn99 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nocandy33 After Spirit Tracks, not Spirit Tracks itself. While the new Hyrule is built, the old one is still under the sea, until at some point in time it resurfaced and recolonized, becoming the Hyrule we see in BotW

      @nocandy33 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Adahn99 Ah yes and the fact that sea salt can be found on mountains and the fact that Rito and Koroks are there. Also Va Ruta and Mipha’s diary referencing a Zora loving a Hylian before being a reference to Ruto who was a water sage by the start of the adult timeline split. Yet the only proof I see from the Downfall timeline is the existence of Lynels but nothing from the Child timeline unless DLC items are canon lol. Also maybe the killed Ganondorf in Twilight is the same preserved one in BOTW 2.

    Gerudo's fossil : the same species as the Wind Fish.
    Probably not the Wind Fish itself, it probably died when Lanayru's sea became a desert centuries prior Skyward Sword.
    Eldin's fossil : the same species as Levias.
    The concept arts depicted him with the hole made by Bylocite, so it could be levias itself.
    Could it be that he breath the ashes from the volcano and died ? That's a lame death for the Guardian of the Sky ...
    Perhaps he clashed with another deity ? Volvagia ? Volvagia was once the master of death mountain and a tyrant, its descendant, Valoo, became a Sky Guardian Spirit like Levias was.
    Hebra's fossil : ??????
    Jabu Jabu's species ? Maybe not ...
    How the Hell did a regular whale founds its way here ?
    Judging by the Zonai designs on the doors, it might be the oldest of the three, as old as the mountain when there was a sea between Hyrule and the rest of the continent, he got caught into ice and burried within the mountain.
    Others :
    - The ones found in the Gerudo desert seem to be the remains of large modulgas.
    - The ones found in Death Mountain could be the remains of Dodongos, they seem to be extinct as well ...
    - The one at Lanayru seem to be from a large snake ... or perhaps a Water Dragon like the one depicted in OOT's Water Temple said to be a deity for the Zora.
    - There is another large fossil at Tabantha surely from a Dragon.
    There are many fossils from dragons that were used by the Bokoblins and Moblins to build their most powerful weapons.
    It could be that there was an era when dragons were roaming freely on the land.
    Could be the same Era as the Zonai as they worshiped Dragons as well.

      Nonoctoro Nonoctoro The Hebra fossil could be Jabu Jabu, or of similar species. Almost every Zelda entry that involves the Zora getting fucked almost always involves Ice and snow.
      (Fun fact, the snowy region in Twilight Princess has the same geography as Zora’s Domain from Ocarina of Time)
      So perhaps the Hebra region was a lush, mountain region full of beautiful water falls and lakes. Imagine the Faron region, but more mountainous.
      Perhaps a natural drastic climate change pushed the Zora to near extinction, forcing them to migrate southeast, closer to the sea?
      Perhaps that massive hole drilled through mount Hebra cause a shift in climate? The think “ice” in the hole doesn’t exactly look natural.

    The leviatan skeleton in the Gerudo desert seems to include some bones that are the possible remains of wings.
    It is possible that this leviatan is the skeletal remain of the Wind fish from Link's awakening.
    Wich makes sense if we take into consideration that these three creatures are used as metaphores to indicate all the three timelines in the franchise and how Breath of the wild seems to be a mishmash of all of them.
    Also.
    The wind fish fell asleep in the ocean near Hyrule.
    And deserts are usualy the remains of ancient seas and oceans that eventualy disappeared, like the Sahara desert and Death valley.

    I feel like Breath Of The Wild is very similar to Majora's Mask, like the four main dungeons system (divine beasts), the bosses being corruptions of the guardians of said dungeons is similar to the blights being corruptions of the element of each divine beast, also the huuuge shrines quest is similar to the huuuge masks quest (and the amount of side quests in general)
    So maybe just like Termina was an alternative world (dimension) of the main Hyrule, BOTW's Hyrule could be an alternative reality where the three timelines are unified, and that's why there are fossils of the different kind of whales of the different Hyrules.
    Of course they could be just a cute nod to fans, but it would be awesome if BOTW2 ends up being more like Ocarina Of Time (8 big temples, fighting Ganondorf himself instead of a mindless evil energy) but darker, just like BOTW was more like MM but lighter.

    Considering the Chinese "dragon bones" I think it may be a translation error. 恐龍 literally means "frightening dragon" but is the term for dinosaur.

    • @angelmendez-rivera351
      @angelmendez-rivera351 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I think the appeal to languages and translations was inconsistent and too sketchy in this video. I mean, the actual name of the location in Breath of the Wild is 竜骨沼, which doesn't really translate to Dragon Bone Mire, but to Keel Mire. Dragon Bone Mire is just how Nintendo of America decided to localize it to the English language. So, it isn't even accurate to mention dragons in the first place.

    Did you think about possibly connecting it to other gigantic fossils from other Zelda games?
    The largest and first one that seems to spring to mind for me would be the entirety of the dungeon Dodongo's Cavern. it's been a while, but if I recall correctly the entire main chamber of that dungeon is a gigantic rib cage. With a large skull as the entrance to the path to the boss.
    I could totally see the gigantic bones all over Hyrule being the remains of massive dodongos. Especially seeing as how dodongos could definitely be called "dragons".

    "How *did* they go extinct?"
    These creatures while similar are not all the same species. These whales very likely went extinct for the reasons the Hylian scientists claimed whether it be all around the same time or not. One species lived in an area that became too cold at some point so it died, another species died off in another area when it got hit with a drought (in real life many whale fossils are found in deserts that used to be oceans), and one more species died from a volcanic eruption near it's home.

    Speaking of Levias I personally believe that he might still be alive during the events of Breath of the Wild, the Thunder Dragon mentions that although he can’t die from the process of aging he can die from getting sick. If the Thunder Dragon along with the Water and Fire Dragons can’t die due to aging then the same might be true for Levias. If I would have to guess I would say the 4 dragons from Skyward Sword are still alive in wherever the portal that the 3 BOTW dragons escape through goes.

    The fact that they're referred to as whale skeletons in the Masterworks book makes me believe they were inspired in some way by Wadi El Hitan in Egypt. The country's western desert used to be a sea in ancient times, and you can go see huge whale skeletons lying on the sand.

    The leviathans are just old forms of the 3 dragons, their locations match this. One can be found in the gerudo desert, an area with many electric powered enemies, like farosh. One can be found on mount death, an area with lots of fire, like dinraal. The final one can be found in the hebra mountains, a very cold and icy place, like naydra.

    FINALLY someone brings up all those bones strewn around the kingdom! I've been wondering about those a lot. But you don't even mention the other fossil types: those huge round skulls that bokoblins often use as strongholds. These are indeed fossil skulls, since they are the same color and texture as the big ribs and spines all over the place. They are vaguely humanioid, too. Maybe there were gigantic ancient bokoblins roaming hyrule with the leviathans and dragons. Or maybe the dragons had humanoid heads, like the ones in Skyward Sword.

    In regards to what the other theorist stated for your video:
    "A long lasted flood".
    Also when you take that story of Prince Sidon defeating the giant Octorok, I think of Wind Waker.
    Remember that there were giant squids within The Great Sea, that you needed bombs to beat? What enemy does that sound like?
    An Octorok. The story might not be an exaggeration, as those enemies were huge.

    Aight I’m gonna settle this. Gerudo skeleton is in fact the wind fish, Eldin Skeleton is levias, and Hebra, I’m gonna day either jabu-jabu, or even jabun from ww. Also take in that hyrule has changed immensely over the thousands of years. So it wouldn’t be too far fetched to assume certain parts of the land itself were at one point or another other places before, I.e. Gerudo desert was once an ocean possibly in the time of links awakening.
