I was hoping they'd double down on the open-world idea by setting the sequel in hyrule's rebuilding stage, where Zelda is re-establishing government, the Bolson crew is restoring Hyrule castle, and Link is serving as Zelda's envoy while she is busy in the castle. You'd need to direct the Bolson crew in new developments around the Castle and in the other towns. At first you'd have to attend to monster attacks yourself, but eventually you can build up the Hyrulean Guard to keep regions safe. Different races will sometimes conflict with each other, and you need to mediate (or fight for one side against the other!). And the Yiga clan will still be working behind the scenes, attempting to thwart your efforts. Industry and trade will need to grow and develop. AND THEN! A larger threat appears, either invaders from Lorule, or the Twili, or foreigners from across that big Dinraal canyon that blocks Hyrule off from the rest of the land. But how cool would it be to completely shape Hyrule from the ground up?

@Evan Surdey lol Did you really need to clarify that it was you that was the one replying in your own comment? Yes, BotW is quite perfect in many ways but why not increase the amount of things that made it so great and add new elements to it to make it even better in it's sequel? If it wasn't messed with to create a different/new game then it would only be a re-release of the same game which would be pointless. If you want the same game then just replay BotW again lol

How about we take the statue and push it somewhere else!

    • @UNICLYPSE
      @UNICLYPSE 6 ปีที่แล้ว +74

Yeah! Let's spend thousands, probably millions of Rupees to hire workers to spend years pushing and hoisting a giant stone monument up a mountain, which will result in many Gerudo deaths, just to show the Eighth Heroine that we don't like her!
It totally won't bankrupt our society, forcing us to settle in a small town where Gerudo men mysteriously do not exist, and were probably the ones who helped move the statue which is why there are none left now because they died trying to move it.
I mean, there were obviously men, there had to have been because according to Zelda OOT, one Gerudo man is born every 100 years or so, and Gerudo, Hylians, Zora, all seem to have lifespans that go well beyond 100 years, look at Impa, Purah, Robbie, King Dorephan, Sidon, several other Zora who remember you, the list goes on.
I have no doubt this is exactly what happened, the Gerudo women seem very violent at times and we can see how much they do not respect men, I mean, I don't blame them for how they feel, a Gerudo male turned out to be the king of evil one time, who's still alive in the form of Calamity Ganon, so obviously they refuse to give men any sort of power in fear that this event will happen again if a Gerudo man were to have power.

The 8th heroine was a deserter out of a band of 8 gerudo heroines. Her sword lies between her and the rest of the group, implying she "dropped" or laid down her sword, as she ran away. If she had back stabbed the rest of the group, she woudn't have ever been considered a heroine in the first place, as the legends were later told to warrant such statues, and would've just been considered a villain versus the 7 heroines. Also, her sword doesn't point towards the rest of the group, implying she didn't point her sword at the other 7 heroines. Initially she wasn't seen so disgraced in the gerudo tales, or else the 8th statues in the yiga hideout would've been disgraced/smashed/moved.
They were 8 heroines of the Gerudo in unspecified times, probably sometime before the 10,000 years between BotW and when Calamity Ganon first showed up that players are never given more backstory into (the 7 giant statues must have been built before those 10,000 years happened since they were built around one of those shrines from 10,000 years ago). She wasn't initially seen as disgraced for her desertion, but as time went on the tales probably painted her more and more cowardly.
The 8th heroine giant statue was built at a different spot because she was seen as disgraced. The text is reversed to show that she is disgraced. They would not have made her text inscriptions reversed if she was moved. Further, the 8th statue is carved out of the mountain, there is no way it could've been moved. At the site of the 7 giant statues, it appears that there was stonework where an 8th statue might have been, indicating that there was a statue possibly there that was later destroyed, but the stonework base does not line up properly with where an 8th statue would've been placed. Further, there is no pedestal for it, or foundation for a pedestal. The 7 giant statues site was built without an 8th statue, despite what seems to be a foundation for an 8th statue.
The statues in the Yiga hideout are there because that was originally some sort of gerudo temple of sorts, that is even more ancient than the other giant statues, from before the time the 8th heroine was seen as disgraced (or else the original builders would've smashed/moved the 8th heroine's statue). It's obvious the Yiga did not originally own that hideout, they just hastily placed cloths over the original gerudo structures that had gerudo text, whereas if it was originally a Yiga hideout it would've had Sheikah (or atleast hylian) text. Further, if it was originally a yiga hideout they wouldn't bother creating statues to foreign gerudo legends, but rather have made statues relating to their own legends. It is obvious that the Yiga Hideout is an ancient forgotton temple that the Yiga took over, and the fact that they are on the other side of the map from Kakariko Village tells you how intensely the Sheikah tried to wipe out the Yiga for them to travel so far to safely make a base.
Also, all the building structures and building scaffolds in gerudo canyon areas are originally Gerudo structures, you can tell because there's writing on the banners saying "Safety first!" in Gerudo text along those scaffolds. Obviously the Gerudo were trying to build something there, maybe more monuments like 7 heroines or temples of some kind, but had to stop because the construction sites were overwhelmed with monsters (that are still there to this day). It's obvious those monsters weren't making those construction scaffolds, pulleys, weights, or writing banners saying "safety first!" in Gerudo.
What really gets my noodle cooking is if the 8th heroine's stone sword was moved by some super giant monster, perhaps a super giant hinox. But that's pretty unlikely, anything that big would probably have its own weapon by the time it got that big. The most logical answer is that the 8th heroine's stone sword was carved away from the 8th's statue, and is between the 8th & the other statues to show she was probably a deserter & purposefully gave up her sword.

These are great questions! At some point we have to ask: How did the sword get moved? If the statues were carved in the mountains, how did they get moved? If they weren't made in the mountains, how did the 8th statue get there? At some point, some weirdness is involved. I agree, over millennia the mountain could seem to absorb a statue. I'm puzzled.

Hmm, I would think that if the statue were standing there long enough to absorbed by a mountain, it should be far more eroded and weathered than that, especially since it's in a snowy region.
I'm pretty sure all the statues had to have been carved from the mountains and then carried into the desert. However, if the makers always intended to make 8 statues, it's pretty weird that the eighth statue was carved all the way on the opposite side of the mountains, where they'd have to cart it all the way around the mountain for it to join the rest of the statues. I think this 8th one was carved in secret by someone else.

Well, most of the Links are left-handed, so I wouldn't say that proves anything, but, if the other statues are right-handed, then it could very well be some incarnation of Link. • @benjaminjohnson9432
    @benjaminjohnson9432 6 ปีที่แล้ว +40

Okay, theory time: it is important to note a couple of distinct differences about the hidden statue. 1) it is call the "Statue of the 8th Heroine," not the Statue of the 8th Sage, so whoever this person is, she does not need to be a sage herself, but rather just related to them in some way. (since the other 7 were all together, let's assume they are the classic "sages" that we see in Zelda lore) 2) the statue's writing is reversed. This leads me to believe that this statue could be considered some type of mirror image, which I believe to be an homage to the Twilight Realm. That would make the 8th Heroine Midna herself, heroine of Twilight Princess who helped defeat Ganon and shattered the mirror connecting the two worlds, while the other sages are those who initially killed Gannondorf in that timeline.

The Yiga definitely took over a former Gerudo hideout. It is also was closer to Gerudo Tower than Gerudo Town.
the Yiga Hideout statues are like a blueprint, complete with a shrine in the middle with the steps to the shrine leading to the way out between 2 statues. If the 7 Heroines had the 8th heroine there the shrine would lead to the 8th and not the exit.
One thing about the statues though is that in the hideout the 8 have a definite left hand while the 7 in the desert have their right hand over the left. The 8th heroine however has her left over the right. Curiously the statues in the Gerudo throne room are left over right, and Buliara is right over left.
Now that I’m paying attention the heroines have their icons in interesting places. Stepping out of the shrine, going counter-clockwise it goes:
    Left foot
    Amulet
    Sword (facing shrine)
    Crown
    Sword (away from shrine?)
    Amulet
    Right foot
Now if this was done for symmetry and not a mistake then that means the 8th heroine’s mark would be on her left hand as all 8 have a spot on their hand for a mark, but none of them use it.

  • @NobodyGamingEntertainment
    @NobodyGamingEntertainment 6 ปีที่แล้ว +72

There is one Possibility to why the 8th statue is reversed and alone.
If you think of the statue as a reflection, it could represent the Twilight realm, I know this is a long shot but hear me out.
In the game if you have the Wolf Link Amiibo you can actually call him to your side, Now my question is, Why is that?
Out of all the Amiibo's only Wolf Link and Super smash Bros. (SSB) Link gives you an actual Character, SSB gives you a one per game Epona so an early unlock and not a big deal, but Wolf Link can actually only be able to help if Summoned with the Amiibo.
So taking the Statue as possible reflection of a Mirror (Possibly the Twilight Realm Mirror or Link to the Past/Between worlds Mirror) and the fact Wolf Link can be summoned as a NPC to help, plus there is a story about a Sage from the Twilight Realm, It could mean that the Unknown/Extra Statue actually represents a Sage not of Links world but from a world beyond a Mirror.
Lets be honest, Link has used Mirrors many times to go into other worlds and has made allies in them as well so it would not be a surprise if there was a Sage from one of the Mirror worlds that came into ours, not to mention it could be possible that Midna might be considered a sage by Links world for her help in the Twilight Princess.
Its just a theory on my part, Would be pretty cool if they make an expansion that lets you open the statue behind it was a Mirror of the Twilight realm or a Shrine dedicated to it.

    Some thoughts:
    1) How could that statue have moved? There isn't anything close to that size in the world as it is that could have even knocked over any of those statues let alone move it to a new canyon in the highlands. Even if the sword is in a different place it couldn't have happened
    2) "Heroines" doesn't necessarily imply "sages" so the link between them and the seven sages may not be direct. All that can be objectively be inferred is that the statues were built after seven sages.
    3) Myths get distorted over time. It's possible that the eighth heroine is "lost" as in the "eighth" statue wasn't built near the other seven and was literally lost and a myth sprung up around her existence without any other tales of her. It's also possible that she was once considered a heroine, but was later discovered to be a fraud and was cast out from the others. Then the statue could have been built by her followers that refused to believe she did anything wrong.
    4) Don't read too much into the text being reversed. The eighth statue is a mirror of the other seven (her left hand is on top of the sword while the others' right hands are on top). It's likely just a X coordinate invert that the developers did to make it seem "off" from the others.
    5) Finally, WW never directly states that the Zora evolved into Rito, just that Medli is Laruto's descendant. It's possible some weird cross-species "contamination" occurred somewhere between those two sages. Since they co-habitate in BotW we can infer that not all Zora mutated into bird people.

They imparted so much wisdom by commemorating the 8th's exile with that giant exiled statue (a male is born every 8 generations, and because it takes so long to happen, the myth became, "it feels like a hundred years"). This also points to the distrust the Gerudo have with men.
I also wonder if the 8th had all other males killed so that only his offspring would reproduce. This would also point to their distrust in men. I mean, the red hair is a dead giveaway. =p

Here a theory on why the statue was moved. Let's build off your theory that each statue is a different Gerudo sage throughout the years. What if one of them allied with Ganondorf and helped the Yiga Clan instead of the other sage's. This would explain why the Yiga Clan are hiding out in the Gerudo dessert and why there hideout has these 8 statue. Perhaps the 8 sage lead them to that cave and gave them shelter there and just over time it became their hideout.

I have an interesting thought about the "eighth" heroine. These statues were obviously made out of a mountain, right? They were 'carved' out, i believe.
And notice how the eigth heroine's back is halfly part of the mountain? Its almost as if it was carved out of the mountain, not brought to it (as in, being discarded)
Now what i think, is that maybe the eighth statue was the first one to be made. It was made as an example, for the people to see how the statues were going to look like. It was like a "sketch", a design they thought of before making the other 7 statues.
Thats just my take on it

    Possible Sages (Heroines):
    1. Zelda (Legend of Zelda 1 and 2)
    2. Zelda (Link to the Past)
    3. Zelda (Ocarina of Time)
    4. Zelda (Twilight Princess)
    5. Zelda (Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass)
    6. Zelda (Spirit Tracks)
    7. Zelda (Link Between Worlds)
Typically Zelda has always had a connection to the Shieka. Usually their guardian was Impa. I probably missed a Zelda or two, but that's the correct canonical number right? There were other games, but not really another Zelda in sight.
Now get this. Lorule. That was another version of Hyrule, but reflected. Usually things would be reflected upside down, but maybe this is a hint, that the Eighth Heroine is a "reflected" heroine. One that shouldn't be spoken of because that would should not be realized. What if the eighth heroine is Hilda?
So you would have 8 heroines and this would be speaking of 8 great events that happened in the history. Now here's where things get iffy...
3 timelines right? What if those three timelines were purposefully created? Think about it. You have a magic Ocarina and the Master Sword that brings in time travel. If that were possible, then how did Link go back and forth so easily? There has to be some kind of magic there...
Also, Ganondorf gets sealed into the sacred realm and returns centuries later (OoT - Wind Waker), gets thrown to the realm of Twilight and comes back (Oot - Twilight Princess) AND wins and reigns for centuries in another realm but loses his mind (Oot - Legend of Zelda 1). What if they could somehow communicate? Through the power of the Triforce or something else, that should be possible. What if they put together a series of events to bring the three timelines back to one? That would explain the Rito and Zora coexisting. That would also explain some of the weirdness that is going on.
But that's a whole different theory. My main theory is that maybe the 3 timelines are linked through Ganondorf himself and that the 7 heroines are all Zelda and the 8th is possibly Hilda?
Let me know if you think I'm crazy. Just a fan of your stuff.

It could be a situation where the carvings were the reason it wasn’t finished and is still a part of the mountain. This happened a lot in Egypt, where if anything happened to one then it would be left unfinished and a new one started. A good example is the cracked obelisk, it was almost completely finished but a huge crack formed and they were forced to completely start over.

I like the idea that there could be a dungeon behind the eighth heroine statue! If they bring back proper dungeons in the sequel, that definitely needs to be a thing.
This was my take on the list, based on the way water flows (motion) and the fact that Rauru has the ability of flight in Ocarina of Time through his avatar - Kaepora Gaebora.
    Skill - Impa
    Spirit - Nabooru
    Endurance - Darunia
    Knowledge - Zelda
    Flight - Rauru
    Motion - Ruto
    Gentleness - Saria
Also, the recent timeline clicked for me when you mentioned the eight statues in the Yiga clan hideout. It all makes sense now, because I knew from other zelda videos that the Yiga clan hideout was an old Gerudo shrine that they took over and made into their base, but they must have done so far enough back in time that the Gerudo hadn't removed the eighth heroine from their history and exiled it's statue to the highlands!

  • @marche800
    @marche800 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Given the fact that the text is reverse maybe the 8th sage is meant to represent Lorule, the mirror version of Hyrule. Perhaps it represents Hilda or some other Lorulian that somehow made contact with Hyrule?
Also when referring to the 8 Yiga statues, I think it's pretty likely that the Yiga simply found an old abandoned Gerudo temple and took it over. Notice that they places their insignia in a cloth over the statues instead of carving it into them. This would suggest that they didn't make them and instead simply found them and defaced them for the sake of marking their territory. This would also make sense given that this location is also the location of one of the DLC shrines that correspond with the Divine Beast Vah Naboris, meaning 10,000 years ago this place wasn't a Yiga Hideout. Also I highly doubt that the Yiga are adept in the Gerudo Alphabet.

The first bit of evidence is at 3:56 how he says he couldnt figure out the eighth word (motion) which means:the action or process of moving or being moved, now link can slow down time/ go into slow MOTION , and the second bit of evidence is at 4:45, it shows a ball that has a pause symbal ( | | ) which could also mean slow motion, now it does say heroin BUT remember when he said the graudo could of changed it to heroin, this is why I think the 8th stage is link, ALSO the eighth stautue has the left hand on top and remember that link holds the master sword in his LEFT hand.........another thing is uno how the sword isnt with the stuatue, and how link keeps on losing the master sword...............

Hey, the eight heroine is Urbosa, as a tribute to her power or something like that (probably being chosen as a metal camel with thunder rider)they decided to make a statue for her, but the calamity and all that happened and.... they forgot about it. The statue is incomplete or perhaps the gerardo in shame dicided to eliminate it from history, because you know she failed and died.

  • @marche800

To be fair. Motion for Zelda can make sense if you remember Princess Zelda's alter ego, Shiek. Shiek being a Shiekah is incredible fast and is seen making several swift escapes throughout the game. Even if we factor out shiek, there is another explanation. Zelda is the Sage of Time in Ocarina (suggested by her skill with the Ocarina of Time and her connection to the Goddess of Time). The flow of Time can be described as motions as things only move as time flows. It is very possible that the Motion Heroine is Zelda.
