@@Rotodojo-yf9sq There you are! Was wondering if you actually went here or not. Sorry for not responding, as I haven't checked the comment section in this video for a while...
You're overlooking a detail which explains a great deal of what is going on with the observatory and the excavation and why Hyrule worked so hard to gather the Sheika tech. Keep in mind that we know that the remains of Ganondorf exist deep under the mountain that the observatory was constructed on. Furthermore, the castle was then built over the observatory. Since the 5 pillars containing guardians are Sheika tech we can conclude that they were intended to guard Ganondorf's burial site. So why the observatory? Simple, its a clock. Constellations have long been used to track the passage of time over very long periods, so it would seem that the Sheika knew something about Ganondorf which required a clock of this nature. Perhaps they knew there was only so long he could remain imprisoned in the stasis imposed by the Sheika monks. Odds are the observatory was an alarm clock intended to awaken an army of guardians to battle Ganondorf. Furthermore, to ensure the secrecy of this failsafe, the Sheika went to great lengths to keep the observatory secret in order to prevent sabotage but the outer wall was discovered by accident - maybe during some work to expand the library section of the castle. Once they found a way into the observatory they realized that it was nearing the time for Ganondorf to return, so effort was made to excavate the technology across Hyrule. They may not have known that the technology to defeat Ganon was meant to be kept secret. But they underestimated the Triforce of Power as it allowed Ganondorf's hatred and malice to manifest ahead of his actual release from stasis and he turned the mecha army against Hyrule.
It does raise the question though. Did the excavation of the technology lead to Ganondorf being made aware of these plans against him, through his minions and followers, therefore causing him to create the malice on purpose to corrupt the Sheika tech or was the malice manifested by accident (or on an unconscious level) and just so happened to me able to corrupt the Sheika mechs? I guess BotW2 will explain more. I'm glad you found my input useful.
I like how he said “they were obsessed with Star constellations for some odd reason” as if all of real life ancient civilizations didn’t obsess over stars, assign the names of their gods to them and use them to navigate.
i remember one shrine that requires counting the constellations . and those large telescopes in akkala and hateno, i thought by unlocking some quest I might be able to use it 🤣
Navigation and IIRC, the stars were also involved in many early mathematical discoveries as well. Not necessarily an essential part, but the purpose of developing these maths was to improve astronomy.
I know this is very late but I have a theory of the eighth heroine. The eighth heroine could of actually be a male. This could be why it is outcasted. The gerudo’s no voe rule for the town may be a result of this as botw is actually one of the few games that gerudo actually prevent men from getting in. In oot the let you pass after defeating all the warriors and any other time is just them defending their outpost. Remember that man that gave you the clothes to get into the town? He looks a awful lot like a gerudo and this ties into the theory, what if one of the heroines was secretly a male and when the secret was revealed he was outcasted. The mirrored text may symbolize the opposite gender and the missing sword is definitely the stripping of honor. This is only lightly supported at best but would like you to take a good look at it and iron out anything wrong
Maybe the Eighth Heroine was indeed Ganondorf which would further support him being outcasted, especially after the destruction he brought. Maybe when he was alive he ordered the Eighth Heroine statue created in his honor kind of like how Egyptians made statues of himself.
Maybe the reason that no one wrote about the library excavation us because they found it just before the calamity appeared. That part being excavated could have even woken the calamity.
Didn't think of that before, but your explanation seems really plausible to me. Maybe NOT the last part, but the library excavation not being mentionned anywhere because it was discovered not too long before the Calamity seems logical.
Funny, I was working on this exact theory two weeks ago. I came to the conclusion that the Astral Observatory had been sealed due to the king from 10,000 years ago wanting to hide the Sheikah technology in the castle. It's stated in the Master Works that the king of Hyrule had banned all Sheikah technology. It would be hard to hide something like the observatory since it's part of the castle as far as I can tell.
I feel like the developers made this game have a lot of mysterious things so that it can be explained in the sequel. There's areas you can't access, areas that seem to be something but aren't, and a lot of unanswered questions.
Like makar island. It sits alone, not part of the lost woods but oh so nearby. There's only the dead tree in the middle...getting on it seems to trigger something and a bunch stal enemies pop up around the tree, like some sort of trap you sprung, like there was a mechanism in place to protect something important. Yet there is nothing you can see, no amount of bombing will reveal anything. No koroks, nothing. Except the tree, dead as it appears, spawns the stal enemies when you first get on it. You gotta wonder if it's really a dead tree and there isn't a switch or door underneath
Game developers have been putting mysteries in games for years in order to give each player unique experiences in multiple playthroughs and also to keep conversation and debate going. It keeps the game interesting and players wanting more.
I realized _the millisecond_ before you said the Shiekah must've been obsessed with stars that a lot of the patterns on Shiekah technology look like constellations. My mind has officially been blown.
Here's a challenge for you: Did you notice the sheikah text around the mural when Impa tells the story of 10,000 years ago (like from 11:41 to 11:45). Could you translate that? I don't think anyone else has done this before. BTW, great vid Edit: please like so NBC can see this.
@@SweetCrumblingDoll I still don't understand why the yiga have not made super science creations and weapons and instead opt for hand-sickle combat instead...
Yep. That game used quite a bit of concept art, such as the aforementioned Great Hall, which is basically a church or chapel. However, it also used the concept art of the Guardians coming from the holes in the large pillars surrounding the castle, rotating as they come out before dropping onto the ground. As expected, the Great Hall in particular looks amazing.
In BotW Hylia is prayed to a lot. Hylia is the golden goddess. Her light is like the sun. She was worshipped in Skyloft. The 3 goddesses from OoT are also always portrayed like comets flying through space. The sky and the divine are strongly connected. This is also the case in Christianity, a major influence on the Zelda series. What if the Shiekah in their quest for knowledge tried to understand the divine, tried to understand Hylia. So they looked upwards, towards the sky and towards the goddesses. We know that the royal family eventually banished the Shiekah and made them give up their knowledge and research. This mimics the story of Galileo Galilei and (again) Christianity / the Pope. Galilei also looked to the stars for knowledge and in the process discovered something that he shouldn’t have. This lead to his banishment and the people in power tried to discredit him. He is also strongly associated with binoculars and telescopes (although he did not invent them, that’s a myth).
Funny you should mention Galileo's banishment. He wasn't actually banished for any discoveries he made. He was banished for mocking the pope about it afterwords.
Christianity and Catholicism are two extremely different things. Catholicism focuses mainly on the worship of Mary, because she was chosen by God to give birth to Jesus, God incarnate. However, God did not choose her because she was holy. Christians believe (according to the Bible) that she was a sinner just like everyone else, and was chosen because of her apparent inadequacy to be chosen, as an example that God can and will accept you into His Kingdom as you are, provided you only ask and repent. The Pope in Catholicism is also apparently allowed to edit the Bible and forgive sins, a right only really given to God himself. The example you are referring to is Catholicism. Still, interesting connection! :)
Galelio was given a fair trial and was basically put under house arrest for contract fraud. He tried to publish some findings aboit ocean waves without proper peer review, when he was being paid simply to verify Kant's equations. A play from the late 1800s created the modern myth that it was some kind of barbaric procedure. The catholic church, taken as a whole throughout 2000 years, is a relatively fair and rationale organization, having served as the root source for the modern university system. A few bad examples of corruption doesn't negate that its impact on humanity over the past 2000 years has been mostly positive. I'm not a catholic but I do respect them, and advocate respect for them. You just don't get universities without their role in history. That aside, while Christianity might have an influence on Zelda, I'm not so sure about Catholicism specifically however.
@@TheTrueHolyDarkness Show some proof maybe? It's a pretty understood fact that he was put under house arrest for writing a book that mocked the churches viewpoint. Honestly, it was a dumb move, but he didn't deserve to be put under house arrest. Also, tell me exactly how and which catholic system serves as the basis for university. The hiring system? The grading system? If so, that's not a compliment. The grading system sucks quite a lot.
@@ravioli3807 Essentially, the university system is the offshoot of a bunch of bored librarian monks having too much free time on their hands so they ended up debating each other a lot. To deep dive for an answer, we'd have to review the Italian Renaissance and Christian Enlightenment eras of philosophical thinking. Which is something I can't afford to do at the moment, though I advocate for your own knowledge and appreciation for history, that you set out to discover good sir. :) Why wasn't the concept of universities invented in say, ancient Egypt for instance? Now, as I think about it, the Greeks and their forums must've had their influence as well in the history behind how "peer review" sprang forth. Western history is defined by Judeo-Greco thought patterns after all. But such is the homework of entire philosophy courses. Still, if you'd wish to give your own argument behind the origins of "peer review" by all means, do so. Until then, violations of contract and "peer review" is basically what the real story of Galileo is about, not that the Church was afraid of science. Their influence is also responsible for the notion of Hospitals and charities after-all. If there's something wrong with that sentence, feel free to explain how. So long as everyone learns, everyone wins.
You should talk about the springs and their locations. I find it interesting how the spring of courage is near the zonai region which makes sense and the spring of wisdom is near kakariko village and is near the sheikah. But the spring of power is in akalla. It’s very strange to me because akalla seems like such a random place for the spring representing the triforce of power. It’s not even near the dragon dinraal.
Well it kinda is. This place is to the right of the volcano while Dinnral starts behind the volcano, goes left and drops near the forgotten temple then follows the crack southward
I have to agree. I would've thought the Power Shrine would've been close to the Gerudo desert (highlighting Ganondorf's Gerudo ties), somewhere by the Yiga clan since they worship Ganon/Ganondorf it'd make more sense to me if they took up residence by the Power Shrine. And Dinraal flies over that region as well so it seems like a more fitting setting.
you could say Akkala represents technology (that's where you get upgrades). When Ganondorf has the power triforce is red because of his evil and when the good guys have it is blue (or is blue to counter Ganondorf's).
The fact that the Champions knew to shoot at the castle and that it funneled down to the observatory to hit Ganon lends credence to the idea that they knew it was down there.
Some people hate all the monsters in the castle, others hate all the guardians. However, for me there’s one thing that I hate the most... THE DAMN PIECES OF RUBBLE BLOCKING THE HALLWAYS
Remember, 10,000 years ago, the (then) king of Hyrule banished the Sheikah so he could’ve built the floor to conceal their lab/astral observatory and the Sheikah would’ve taken everything with them, including their discoveries from the lab leaving an empty room. Fast forward 10,100 years later and Ganon falls as break the hallow floor and 🎶we all fall down.🎶
Also the Ancient Royal lab... The Ancient tells me is way older than 100 years ago. Definitely it was destroyed by the king's orders, the king from 10,000 years ago
Exploring that castle was and is still just fantastic. It's like you don't only search for ganon, but you also unearth lore and the past and are challanged against strong mobs at the same time. And you can even search for treasure! It's the essence of everything a dungeon can be mashed together and combined with the best music and atmosphere.
Honestly, I think they intentionally skipped discussing under the castle further because in the BOTW Sequel trailer you see Hyrule Castle going upwards after Ganondorf’s corpse moves. I feel like the energy source mentioned under the castle is an allusion to the green energy hand you see sealing Ganondorf and that is also why he never resurrected again. He has been sealed there for a while so the malice seeping out is how he resurrected his rage. Also, maybe the Astral Observatory was actually used for predictions and trying to understand when the seal would fail (probably a far stretch). But I’ve been putting probably wayyyy too much thought into this.
I just started playing this a couple months ago but… ran into that guy my first time in there. I had waited so long to approach the castle (mainly due to all the guardians I was afraid of) that when I finally made it there I explored every crevice of it
I really hope we'll see a restored Hyrule/Hyrule Castle in BotW. That's probably my biggest hope I have for the game right now. And it'd be awesome of our safegame from BotW somehow carries over so that the NPCs actually acknowledge that we defeated Ganon etc
SwaggitySwooty no need your safegame, just asume you beat the first game... i have botw on wiiU and will have the second on switch :p if they do that i cant have my savefile on switch
@@omegatenshi2302 That's true i guess... But I also meant NPCs remembering that you helped them with various quests would be a nice thing to be carried over, because not everyone did everything and it'd be a nice way to reward the players that did as much as possible in BotW1. Something similar was done in Pokémon BW2 where the main character of the first game that you played was sometimes mentioned by the name that you gave him iirc
I'm playing botw on the pro hud and exploring the Hyrule world, getting korok seeds and admiring the amount of detail poured into this game. One thing I'd like to say is that most of the exploits like the using the bow in sheikah scope mode might have been ideas scrapped which we may or may not see in the sequel.
Great video! I have some comments that may be of your interest. First, can we all agree that this Hyrule's Castle is fucking amazing? I mean, it's very well planned, and really passes the vibe of a useful stronghold and glorious palace. I REALLY wish to see it at his original form. The architecture, the details, the realistic defenses, everything is impressive. Second, regarding the questions about the Royal Family's knowledge of the Astral Observatory. I suppose they did know it existed. The lab was probably build 10000 years ago, during the era where Sheikah lend their technology at full pace to Hyrule Kingdom. When they were "banned", the king of the moment probably choose to seal that chamber only, since disrupting it too much could damage the castle, as it was build in the ground base of it. Lastly, your Stallnox theory makes perfect sense! Defeating a monster of that caliber would probably be the bare minimum to become a knight.
@@NintendoBlackCrisis BTW NintendoBlackCrisis, since you're here, I'm going to take this chance and tell you: You're one of the best Zelda youtubers out there. Keep growing, because you deserve it
House: A building that a family lives in. Fortress: A walled structure with the purpose of providing protection from enemy attacks. House + Fortress = Castle
What if in doing the excavations, this led to the return of gannon. We see many blocked off tunnels and closed passage ways. What if they mined into an area that awakened the calamity but, collapsed, by time or other means. We also know that they were in the middle of the excavation before the reawakening of the calamity. We know the greed of Hyrule's kings and how he ordered the excavation before the awakening of the calamity. What if they mined into the chamber we see in the botw 2 trailer but, didnt reawaken gannon, just allow the malice to pour out from the chamber and start the awakening of malice. Idk just a thought about the reawakening and why gannondorf's body didnt awaken as well.
Another question is why the Astral Observatory itself seems to have malice flowing through it like the guardians do, especially since the energy balls that come from the castle itself in the flashback cutscene with King Rhoam are seen erupting from the center up, almost as if they were being funneled through something. I'm thinking it has to do with how the Sheika may have been harnessing Ganon's life force to power their machines and may also have something to do with why they were exiled to begin with. It even kind of explains the Yiga, defectors from the Sheika. If the Sheika were harnessing Ganon's malice, maybe some of their members became corrupted/fascinated, maybe spiritually or mentally by the energy itself. The chamber itself may be able to focus the energy that is being gathered in the trailer and maybe that energy is tied to astrology. Like why is there even a blood moon? What does the moon have to do with the resurrection of monsters in the first place? Why only on a full moon? Maybe the observatory helps in adjusting to the ebb and flow of the moon and the stars. There's a lot of mystery here. All of it fascinating.
@@Sterl500 interesting... I think if there was an elevator from the astral observatory can go up to the room above it, why cant it go lower. It would explain a whole knew place to the castle the player would have yet to explore
I think the elevator in the laboratory, or what we all know as the calamity Ganon Battle room, goes up _and_ down. I may just be dumb, but that might explain the location of link and Zelda in the botw 2 trailer.
Imagine all these theories finally getting explained and clarified in BOTW 2 and we finally learn the full story of Hyrule and it's landmarks from that. This really hypes me up for the game now.
One of the best videos you've done yet, great job on this man! Really got me thinking about the timing of the King's excavation and Calamity's attack from 100 years ago. Loved seeing more specific lore to the castle that gives it life, such as certain hallways being taken by Royal Members vs Guards, or the recently dug escape tunnel leading to the docks in case of emergencies.
I was looking forward to getting rid of all the malice so I could actually explore the whole of the castle, disappointed we can't..but hope there is far more to explore of it when the sequel arrives!
Its amazing how quickly you go from never wanting to step foot into Central Hyrule and Hyrule castle, to going around and owning everything they throw at you. Ive been farming Ancient parts for awhile to convert into Ancient arrows and im like 20-30 away now from having 999 lol.
Just noticed this, but the map at 6:53 has similarities to the sheikah symbol on the slate which could potentially relate to the map of hyrule castle in botw 2 if we are able to explore the castle in its former glory and might have more correlations
Video: Hyrule castle has a mysterious mine area with many passageways. What could it have been used for? Me: Wow link looks kinda weird walking slowly down stairs lol
You know, I love Breath of the Wild with a passion. But did anyone else think that the Ganon’s were just a little too easy? Honestly, I feel like Calamity and Dark Beast Ganon were pretty easy, but I feel they were overshined by the Thunderblight Ganon who I felt was the strongest boss. Idk, I just feel like his Calamity form became a little predictable and Dark Beast Ganon literally just stood there. Note; new subscriber here! I like the channel 😃 Edit: Don’t have master mode so tell me how Ganon on master mode is if you can, comments section
That’s such a cool detail! I never noticed 2 sections to the castle for royals and soldiers. I don’t think I would have ever noticed that and I have to completed the game 5-6 times now. Awesome video!
Robbie's lab used to be a lighthouse. The fact that there was a lighthouse implies that Hyrule may have once communicated with countries across the ocean. Maybe we'll get to travel there in Zelda 2!
You got me interested when you said something about the Sheikah being obsessed with star constellations. I did some research about the divine beasts and it turns out every single one represents each season, but since the game was obviously made in Japan we would have to look at the constellations that would be seen from Japan’s point of view. Vah Naboris which is the resemblance of a giant Camel can be the representation of the constellation Camelopardilas which is most visible in February, Feburary in Japan is Winter. Vah Medoh, the resemblance of a giant Eagle is the representation of the constellation Aquila which is visible at Summertime in Japan. Vah Ruta, The resemblance of a giant Elephant is the representation of the constellation Cepheus, Cephues is visible in Autumn in Japan. Finally Vah Rudania takes the form of a giant lizard, the problem here is that the lizard constellation is most visible in November. I got stuck here since we can not have two Autumn constellation, so instead I chose not to think of Vah Rudania as a lizard but a Chameleon. When I tried to see what Season the Chameleon constellation is in it turned out to be in April, this would make it visible at Spring in Japan. Now we have all four seasons that each divine beast represents. Also since the divine beasts were made 10000 years before they were actually found what if the lizards were actually chameleons and later evolved into lizards.
It's my understanding that placing a room underground significantly lowers it's value as a base for observing the sky. Observatory does not make any sense. You can also prove that they knew the room existed because the central room floor spans the gap you eventually fall into. One does not accidentally build a floor over a gaping hole. That's not a theory, that's a fact. Moreover, as you fall, you can see clearly Hylian carved designs and stone bricks similar to the castle (lnstead of the material of choice by the sheikah).
or its the mine tracks they used to get to ganon (since the reveal trailer seems to place him at the end of some sort of mine that you see link and zelda traverse). just sayin since noone else does lol
The mine is explained in the game, from another angle. They talk about the excavations of Sheikah technology, and it calls out digging under the castle more than once.
Nintendo Multiverse head canon: Shiekah are obsessed with the Stars. They harnessed the dark power of Ganon to fuel their robots. Kirby of the stars. Dark matter and it's obvious powers.
Maybe the Shiela read the future with the stars, or train thier "minds eye" as astronomy is a type of fortune telling and the Sheika always seem to know what's going to happen next.
normal mines would also make sense under a castle of that size and age, especially as the main defense of a royal family castles are meant to function like small towns, independent of any town outside of its walls, which is why they usually have things like a cathedral, a dining hall, a blacksmith, a stable, a mine would make sense and would prolong its ability to work independent of the outside world because they can get their own metal
Maybe the ancient Sheikah built the ancient observatory and those telescopes to check the night sky for Star Fragments. Those things are hella valuable. Maybe they were used to build the cores for the Guardians? The color you see inside the cores kinda matches that of Star Fragments.
Me: *Has fun In Hyrule Castle* Crusader Me: *Pillages everything* Capitalist Me: *Empties every sheild, bow, and sword slot to fill it with royal gaurd equipment to get mad money*
You can find hundreds of them up in the snowy mountains in either the Gerudo region or Hebra. They charge at you with reckless abandon, so just chuck a bomb at them.
I have a theory or rather something I would like looked at, at least. At the end of BOTW Zelda talks about how her sealing power has diminished after holding the Calamity back for a 100 years. Could that mean that Zelda may not have enough power to help Link banish Ganondorf when he returns? Does she have enough power left over to get it done? Will that be one of the plots in BOTW 2? What are your thoughts? Let me know. Thanks for all you do. In my opinion you are the best theorist I subscribed too.😁👍🏼
Now this makes sense. I never knew how so many soldiers along with the King escaped the stronghold of the castle with Ganon directly on top of them. They used the docks to escape and flee.
It literally looks just like the imprisonment grounds from ss, I mean I'm convinced Fi will play a part again and thus Demis will too. I know it's all speculation but damn.
Something I’m surprised you didn’t mention: the supposed vast store of the ancient energy liquid beneath Hyrule Castle. We know that there were smaller reserves in Necluda and Akkala (which is presumably what the furnaces there draw from), but we know next to nothing about it in Hyrule Castle. Perhaps there used to be a furnace somewhere? Perhaps beneath the Observatory?
Throughout Zelda history, the Sheikah have in some era been descriminated against and treated with distrust, thus forced to go into hiding. I at one point wondered if the "Sanctum" isn't supposed to be a title taken literally and that some Sheikah hid out in the observatory during times of high tension.
When BotW2 finally comes out, it should take place a few months after Link defeated the Blight. I would assume that Zelda would have started a restoration project on the castle...right before whatever that mummy thing levitated the whole area into the sky. Maybe we'll finally see what the Great Hall looks like in the sequel, when we finally get up to that flying castle?
The only question is, why isn't it on the map? It brings me to the theory that the location where we battle Ganon is actually deep underneath Hyrule Castle where Link and Zelda are exploring in BOTW 2
3:00 "Hyrule Castle is in many ways a fortress", well ofc it is, that's the literal definition of a castle, I think you are confusing a castle with a palace
Unlikely. He'd most likely have Riju killed off, and then take over rewriting the Gerudo's history as he goes, similar to how Stalin achieved such power in the Soviet Union in the 1920's and 1930's...
Freaking love you zelda theorist out there you guys connect all the dots so genuinely and add so much thought and passion to this videos. You guys point out what i miss and iseek out this parts of the game and get so experience then in my own ways. Much love keep it up as long as the internet exist!
I think there's another explanation for why the outer wall of the Astral Observatory aren't remarked on at all: they weren't exposed until AFTER Calamity Ganon rose 100 years ago. That upheaval, the 5 spires shooting up, all of that chaos, could have easily dislodged a few sections of stone and exposed the outer wall. Oh the irony that they were digging so hard for it and it was JUST beyond their grasp.
I love the detail in this video! Very thorough and well put. During the part where you were explaining the paths used by the royals and the soldiers, at 4:03 you can see link marching just like a soldier down the stairs. That's dedication 💯💯💯💯🔥
Perhaps, but then I feel that'd be a little weird to the player, so instead secret tunnel behind the statue in the back of the Great Hall that leads to several tunnels that have been there for centuries or millennia...
I recently started my first master mode play through, after struggling with the great plateau, I immediately went and got Majora’s mask so enemies would ignore me, then snuck in to Hyrule castle to get as many OP weapons as i could, made the start a lot easier (as a person who hates reloading and dying)
"perhaps the Sheikah used celestial bodies as a form of language?" Astrology and astronomy, not language. It's always astrology and astronomy when there is a fascination with the stars.
I have only seen you and a few other people that still play Zelda. I love these Zelda videos more than other videos about games like Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite. Basically your videos are amazing, though I would just share that with you. Have a good day everyone! 😁
I wouldn't like time travel, especially since time travel already fucked up the timeline once. I rather hope we just get it rebuilt, at least at the end of the game ^^
The reason they built over the floor of the observatory is likely to seal it away around the time they forced the Sheikah to cast off all technological advances and live as the Hylians do.
Another important detail I forgot to mention: the massive pool of ancient energy that was supposedly under Hyrule Castle. It's implied that this area had its own ancient furnace, similar to the ones found in Akkala and Necluda. The reason I never thought to include this detail is because I have a whole other theory talking about it as well as other interesting stuff. Check it out here if you want to know more!

Very interesting!
I guess you can say..... you get A’s in ELA class with writing PARAGRAPHS

This has got to be like the best most logical theory on this I've ever read. This is really cool!
The stars are projectors. Yeah.
Knowing the Sheikah and how crazy their tech got, I'm half-expecting an ancient orbital space laser to make an appearance.

If the Eighth Heroine is a male Gerudo, then he would have to be Ganondorf
Maybe the Eighth Heroine was indeed Ganondorf which would further support him being outcasted, especially after the destruction he brought. Maybe when he was alive he ordered the Eighth Heroine statue created in his honor kind of like how Egyptians made statues of himself.
It’s almost like Disney’s interpretation of Mulan but not as lucky as Mulan
No, just look at the statue

Maybe the reason that no one wrote about the library excavation us because they found it just before the calamity appeared. That part being excavated could have even woken the calamity.
Didn't think of that before, but your explanation seems really plausible to me.
Maybe NOT the last part, but the library excavation not being mentionned anywhere because it was discovered not too long before the Calamity seems logical.
That is a possibility, have you considered the connection between the different leaf on the Deku Tree and the observatory?

Funny, I was working on this exact theory two weeks ago. I came to the conclusion that the Astral Observatory had been sealed due to the king from 10,000 years ago wanting to hide the Sheikah technology in the castle.
It's stated in the Master Works that the king of Hyrule had banned all Sheikah technology. It would be hard to hide something like the observatory since it's part of the castle as far as I can tell.
Exactly. Was just about to say this. They probably deliberately covered the observatory up during the suppression.
Ok who are you
hyrule deserved the fate. i don't make the rules.
I *definitely* don't think the current Hyrule Castle is the same one that would have existed at the height of Sheikah influence.

The Great Hall is featured in Age of Calamity and looks pretty much exactly like it does in the concept art.
Why wasn't the concept of universities invented in say, ancient Egypt for instance?
Thomas Pereira I guess but the other two are in the same region. this one is next to the region but I guess it’s close.
Ashe • exactly
you could say Akkala represents technology (that's where you get upgrades).
Goddamn relatable!
It always gets me lost, or blocks off an area I want to explore. ;-;

I spent like 1-2 hours exploring the castle and I couldnt finish exploring everything.. nice video!
Will M same
Honestly, I think they intentionally skipped discussing under the castle further because in the BOTW Sequel trailer you see Hyrule Castle going upwards after Ganondorf’s corpse moves.
Man, your theories are always so interesting! Usually when watching your theories, I accept them as "canon" because of how much they make sense, lol

The mines would have been made in the search for the guardian pillars. At least thats my thoughts on those
Great video!
Your second comment is very true! Can't believe I didn't think of that xD and yes the castle is pretty awesome!

I think they blocked it off because Ganon body is under there
I enjoy all your content NBC, and I've been coming up with theories myself. Mostly connected to TP. You've really been an inspiration. Thanks!
FINALLY THIS IS THE NBC THEORY I NEED
Nintendo Multiverse head canon:
Shiekah are obsessed with the Stars.
Like before watching, nice new intro
normal mines would also make sense under a castle of that size and age, especially as the main defense of a royal family
castles are meant to function like small towns, independent of any town outside of its walls, which is why they usually have things like a cathedral, a dining hall, a blacksmith, a stable, a mine would make sense and would prolong its ability to work independent of the outside world because they can get their own metal
The castle is also a fortress because by definition a castle is a fortress it kind of has to be
Even though it’s destroyed, it still looks just as beautiful
Of course. It may be in ruins, but it's grand architecture and decorations are still there to some degree.
I think I know why the Sheika are obsessed with celestial bodies
Shows the Majora's mask aliens
Why were there aliens anyway?
Maybe the ancient Sheikah built the ancient observatory and those telescopes to check the night sky for Star Fragments. Those things are hella valuable. Maybe they were used to build the cores for the Guardians? The color you see inside the cores kinda matches that of Star Fragments.
That's actually a pretty good Theory

What makes you think these characters will play a role in the sequel?
Something I’m surprised you didn’t mention: the supposed vast store of the ancient energy liquid beneath Hyrule Castle. We know that there were smaller reserves in Necluda and Akkala (which is presumably what the furnaces there draw from), but we know next to nothing about it in Hyrule Castle. Perhaps there used to be a furnace somewhere? Perhaps beneath the Observatory?
Yeah I probably should have talked about that, I guess I didn't think about it since it was a part of a previous theory
I just realized Zelda didn’t only lose her friends and family but her home.
uh the champions died and was her friends
Throughout Zelda history, the Sheikah have in some era been descriminated against and treated with distrust, thus forced to go into hiding. I at one point wondered if the "Sanctum" isn't supposed to be a title taken literally and that some Sheikah hid out in the observatory during times of high tension.
Champions ballad theory’s ( how the resurrection shrine elevator goes deeper than the observatory).

3:00 "Hyrule Castle is in many ways a fortress", well ofc it is, that's the literal definition of a castle, I think you are confusing a castle with a palace
I didn’t even know there was a book. Really glad there’s finally an explanation for the weird chamber you fight calamity ganon in
Do a video about is Gannon teams up with the Gerudo in breath of the wild 2
Poor Hyrule. They were looking for the answer to their prayers that would save them and it was right underneath their castle the whole time..
I love the detail in this video! Very thorough and well put. During the part where you were explaining the paths used by the royals and the soldiers, at 4:03 you can see link marching just like a soldier down the stairs. That's dedication 💯💯💯💯🔥
What if I’m breath of the wild 2 in the trailer they go inside of the columns
Perhaps, but then I feel that'd be a little weird to the player, so instead secret tunnel behind the statue in the back of the Great Hall that leads to several tunnels that have been there for centuries or millennia...
I recently started my first master mode play through, after struggling with the great plateau, I immediately went and got Majora’s mask so enemies would ignore me, then snuck in to Hyrule castle to get as many OP weapons as i could, made the start a lot easier (as a person who hates reloading and dying)
I really hope BOTW2 adds a lot more lore it's my favorite part of LoZ. There's so many spots around Hyrule with names that make me curious
The picture showing the bottle neck entrance seemed to have the remnants of a spiral staircase into the observatory.
"perhaps the Sheikah used celestial bodies as a form of language?"
Astrology and astronomy, not language.
someone else loves the design of this hyrule castle? Just me?
i love hyrule castle. the vibe I get from it is just amazing.
Well.. i hope your time travel theory Was right. So we can see the Castle on it's former glory.
