This is absolutely beautiful... he really got a lotta people to tear up on this including me. When I first heard this it was on my car radio and the announcer warned his audience to pull over if we were driving and I'm glad I took his advice! Because it was a new song and he'd just heard it himself for the 1st time. He said afterwards that he didn't see it coming. My GF at the time was with me and both of us were balling our eyes out.

Hello, l am 51 years old, I am of a different nationality I like in another country, I know America only from films and books, I have read a lot before, I first heard this song from the movie "ghost" in the 90-s recently I have watched this film several times again, it touches to the depths of my heart, after why did I watch this performance by Bobby Hatfield, an excellent singer, and I perceive the song as dedicated to the memori of Patrick Swayze, Listening to the song tears appean in our eyes, we are all people, we are all the same, no matter what nationality and where we live, Pease and good to you,Singerely from the Western Kazakhstan city of Uralsk🇰🇿🤝👍

As a tenor i thought this would be a piece of cake. The big moment is a swift switch to falsetto to a reasonable E5, and the hard parts are the G4 Mine sustains which are. high for a male but not incredibly impossibly high unless you add the B4 Glissando. But no. The amount of support and placement you need to even acceptably pull off this song requires top notch support and relaxation, its insane. Singing this took me years and even then the amount of sensitivity and dynamic control in Bobbys singing make him unsurpassable by anyone who can even hit the notes correctly. Just astounding talent. Thousands of covers and he still reigns supreme

IMHO quality in art has no age group.
That's why young girls still swoon over this song, and why so many film reactors on TH-cam seem to concur that a black and white film like 12 Angry Men shot mostly in a single room with no FX impresses them so much compared to the big budget action films of the modern day.
The only thing that depresses me about watching these reactions is when all these young reactors say "oh that sounds so good for the 60s", or "that looks so good for the 70s".......

This song was written in 1955 for a movie called "Unchained". Many artists have recorded this but this will always and forever by Bobby Hatfield's. Bobby passed in 2003. RIP Bobby. No auto tunes. Just a young man, his talent and a microphone. Live performance. No second chance.........and.........his parents were in the audience. The Righteous Brothers were referred to as Blue-eyed Soul.

The Incomparable Counter Tenor voice of the late great Bobby Hatfield of the "Righteous Brothers." Done (Live) 59 years ago in (1965) on the "Andy Williams" television show. Unchained Melody written for the (1955) movie "Unchained." The music was composed by multi academy award winner Alex North with Lyrics by Hy Zaret. This live performance has become the quintessential version of "Unchained Melody" of them all. Since then, orchestras and singers have used this arrangement by the NBC Studio Orchestra ever since. No one has sung this song better than Bobby Hatfield and no orchestra has performed this song better than the NBC Studio Orchestra of the Andy Williams Show. Together they created the greatest live performance of all time. Brilliant!

You hit so many of the points about Bobby’s ability to take this song and make it memorable and unforgettable. His voice is one in a million for range, control, the velvety sound and vibrato. Take a listen to some of his other solos; Ebb Tide, Somewhere, Sentimental Reasons, Only You, to name a few.

About three years ago I got 1000% addicted to reaction videos & reactions to this performance is what did it…to see the wonder & joy in younger people’s faces as they realize that the older music was amazing (I’m not putting down new music, im just trying to explain simply, & bluntly)…but younger guys & girls both love this …the guys question their life choices & the girls swoon & pretty much literally fall in love every time…idk, reactions to this, for me, will never get old & will never lose their magic….& this song, & the older music, will never lose its magic. Great reaction, thanks:)

During the interview, you can hear nervousness in Bobby's voice (1:06), especially when when he says, "...we've been known as that ever since" with a loud exhale. But, just a few seconds later, none of that is apparent as he starts to sing seemingly without effort and with perfect control. By the time he finishes, that bite of the lip is his expression of well-deserved satisfaction with the perfect performance he knows he gave.

If you want to check out Bill Medley's voice, I would very highly recommend 'Soul and Inspiration' and 'You've Lost that Loving Feeling', both amazing songs by the Righteous Brothers. As great as Bobby is at the high notes, Bill is every bit as talented with the low register.

the thing about this song is it was first used in a 1955 movie titled "Unchained", music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. Several versions were produced in the 50's. Bobby Hatfield had a band before meeting Bill Medley and he sang this song back then. Unchained Melody was actually a B side on a 45 and the DJ's liked it so much it became a hit, this version is also featured in the movie "ghost". Bill was the producer on that song when Bobby recorded it.

I like a number of genres when it comes to music (minus classical, jazz), but as primarily a Classic Rock lover/fan, I'll always maintain this version of "Unchained Melody" is one of the Top-10 greatest musical performances EVER. Bobby just killed it. It was like this was written for him, that's HOW good it was being sung by the GREAT, late Bobby Hatfield.
Side note: Bobby was very close to his mother, who was in the audience when Bobby performed this masterpiece.
P.S. Love your reaction because nothing was contrived. Good stuff :)
