The love of my life, Sharon, and I saw Bobby Hatfield & Bill Medley, the Righteous Brothers in 1965, in San Diego at the Community Concourse. They were amazing. Tuxedos, Full orchestra. Mixed crowd because a lot if Blacks thought they were Black. Everyone there was so into the concert. Unforgettable night with Sharon & the Righteous Brothers.

I love it when there are two bands.
Sometimes they're gunning for bear (and that's o.k.), but even if not, everybody puts their best foot forward, and almost without exception.

Beautiful, sweet, charming, talented Bobby Hatfield still making women swoon 50+ years later. Loved your reaction. Bobby did many beautiful solo's like My Prayer and Summertime to name a few. He and Bill Medley were an unbeatable duo with several hits. This one charted twice! RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed. Thank you for leaving us this gem which BTW is better than the studio recording.

Can truthfully say have heard this song thousands of times and played the label off my 45 and had to replace several times. This was just pure talent. Thanks for our visit today.

You have most of the important comments already, regarding the Righteous Brothers - back in the day, with no social media, only radio, many people thought they were a black duo. In fact, they were nicknamed, "Blue Eyed Soul" because of Bobby Hatfield. I was a teenager back in 1965 when this song came out. All I can say is, this song will forever withstand the test of time. Why? Because Class never goes out of Style!

Bobby Hatfield had a very rare voice called a counter tenor. Most men who had his voice throughout history were Italian opera singers centuries ago called castrati, meaning they had been castrated to preserve the voice. He had a 4 and a half to 5 octave vocal range and extremely good control, producing notes and changing between them as usually only classically trained opera singers can. He had no formal training. On top of everything else, he had a head cold that night of this live performance.

As a guy I feel this song to but I’m sure in a different way than most women would! As a man you can feel the pain of missing your woman’s companionship and love! I hear the song was originally written by a man in prison. If so it would make sense and so would the lyrics! I never get tired of listening to his voice and the way he performs this song! A song and performance for the ages!

SSWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNN, 😳😳😳...., lol....one of the greatest to,ever do it, im only 46, & have only known of this performance from the reactors in these last 2 years....im a musician, but im horrible w/ the technical stuff, but he hit 26? Different notes, i think, over, like, 4 octaves?m its insane, ...its ridicule-ous....just crazy, ......no auto tune back then, just pure talent....from what i understand his mom & sister were in the audience& he was super nervous, but he made a grand slam....anyway, great reaction, im now subbed: D ....awesome

He didn't have a sister, only brothers. His mom and dad are at this performance. His mom is the lady in the blue dress and fur stole to his right and back a bit. In this performance he went from D3 to sharp of G5. His range is beyond that which is why there is absolutely no strain. Love how he just smiles through it.

Yes, Bobby was one of those Artists that had Women saying "Please have my Babies !!!". As a fellow Vocalist ... Bobby Hatfield this is probably the best Live Performance ever performed of any Song ever. And yes, there are 2 "Giveret" ... but if you search for the intro to this performance with Andy Williams, you'll find out the story behind the Band name and why only Bobby performed this Song solo. Having been in Studios where we can "punch in/out" to get the best outcome and performed "live" as well, there are "choices" are made ... SO many factors go into it ... climate, mood, sound guys, et al. As an "old guy" a reminder that this was "pre-Auto Tune", Tube Amps and a Mic with far less dynamic range that what's available today. So few of us (and certainly not me) can hit high C ... post puberty (LOL and MJ could do it RIP). Utterly amazing IMHO. Just a "visual" note as well ... pre-MTV and the part where he begins to sing about how "lonely Rivers flow to the Sea" sync'd with the fade out with the yellow Globe bulb lights was SO cool ... again, IMHO.
And BTW, Todd Duncan was the original release Artist in 1955.

Sweet beautiful charming and talented Bobby was my fave. He exemplifies the 'ken doll' look of the late fifties to early sixties with his well groomed hair, jacket+tie to his pinky ring. His range was extrodinary and he always packed a surprise punch in every song he sung. Check out other solo's like Summertime and My Prayer. This live performance was even better than the studio cut released on the B side of a 45 and charted twice. Listen to Hung on You the A side which he and Bill Medly sing together. RIP Robert (Bobby) Lee Hatfield 1940-2003.

This is my favorite. Then I’ll hear them sing together and melt all while having goosebumps like it’s my first time hearing them. This, as most people know by now, was a live performance in front of a live audience. As you can see, the audience, as was customary in the day, remained quiet until Bobby completed his song. Respect. Also, not only was Bobby battling a cold, his Mom was in the audience listening as well. There is an extended version of this recording with Bill Medley (the other extremely talented half of the Righteous Brothers duo) and the actual host of the show, the wonderful Mr Andy Williams. Andy Williams is a famous😂 singer in his own right. I only mention this for the younger, newer fans who are just being introduced to this era of meaningful, emotional, heartfelt music. Please continue to explore the Righteous Brothers music. Your reaction has got to be one of the best. 🥰🤗

Song lyrics. It’s a prisoner’s song. He longs for the end of his sentence and anticipates his reunion with his beloved. First heard in the 1955 movie ‘Unchained’.
    Woah, my love, my darling
    I've hungered for your touch
    A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
    Are you still mine?
    I need your love
    I need your love
God speed your love to me
    Lonely rivers flow
To the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea, yeah
    Lonely rivers sigh:
"Wait for me, wait for me"
I'll be coming home, wait for me
    Woah, my love, my darling
I've hungered, hungered for your touch
    A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
    Are you still mine?
    I need your love
    I need your love
God speed your love to me

A lil' perspective for Ya. This was THE song at teen dances in the sixties. It was usually a 'Ladies Choice' and the girls thought he was singing to them, and they'd hold us so tight. No A/C in those days so I can still taste the sweaty hair spray of the girls. Later on in Nam, it became our anthem for being away from home and wondering if our girl was still our girl. You'd hear this at night from one of the hootches and it would bring tears. "Time goes by so slowly and Time can do so much, are you still mine?" I still get chillz.

By the end, you'll be melting! I've seen it happen! This song originated in a 1955 prison movie, titled "Unchained." Since it was the main tune in the movie, it received the title "Unchained Melody."

He definitely has grandsons. Don't know the exact number, but for sure more than a couple. There's even a little one who will be 2 this year right on Grandpa's birthday. He has a beautiful daughter and 3 handsome sons.
