I always found Abby's story ironic, and I think that was intentional. She kills Joel for killing the Fireflies and her dad, but she doesn't realize WHY Joel did what he did. But then, she meets Lev, and Lev is what Ellie was to Joel. At a certain point, Abby becomes Joel. She's okay with killing anyone who would ever dare harm Lev. That's what I love about the story, is how beautiful and lethal love can be.
@@liquidsunshine697 damn man, reflect on your words and you’ll find so much bigotry lies beneath just this one sentence. Work it out!! Only thing nasty is your attitude.
@@liquidsunshine697 bruh why do people go out of their way to bring up trans people and show their misogyny whenever they can? we really have no hope for a peaceful world when people will go out of their way to be a bigot in completely unrelated situations. “woman strong.. me not strong.. woman is actually man! haha! now me feel more comfy when thing simple” if someone (even a woman! wow!) trains their body for 4 years for the sole purpose of beating a specific person to death for causing them trauma, they will grow muscles! isn’t that crazy? that lifting weights basically everyday for years makes you stronger?
Ngl those screams from Ellie are chilling. Usually in horror games the mc screams usually sound like something you'd hear on a rollercoaster or like they're raging at something. There's no... shrill breaking in them. Ellie's va in this game absolutely put her everything into those death shrieks. I keep feeling my hair stand on end when i hear her. Good shit
I remember when I first played it, the player death scenes got ruined by a fade to black quicker than the original. Was it like this on ps4 launch or am I having a Mandela effect?
Most of the time when I watch challenge videos centred around tlou2 the creator spends half of the time complaining about Abby and how she’s the worst. I really liked how you talked about Abby’s story in a more positive demeanour and brought to light what Naughty Dog was trying to do with Abby’s story compared to Ellie’s. Good job man, and congrats on getting the platinum!
Thank you! I genuinely have grown to love this game and I'm glad I could present it that way! I think abbys side of the game is much more enjoyable once realising what is actually happening, the story telling is fantastic!
Fun fact: If you manage to outrun the Bloater for long enough while Joel damages him, The game will spawn in a runner to grab you (I'm 90% sure you cant avoid this runner, you still have to spam click the button on screen or else the runner will actually kill you) and the bloater will grab you and then the cutscene will trigger of Joel killing the bloater.
@@zwoptf I'm talking about the scripted moment where they make the bloater grab Ellie just because it needs to happen(even if I was outrunning and destroying the bloater). I'm not a fan of that.
yes, i'm not too , this took me too much minutes ,hours and then i let me kill me and this is happend , dont like scripting or puzzle that stand front of you ,had solution front of you and you had nothin but do this
@@alexisaguirrevazquez7900 but the point is for joel to save ellie, story based games are scripted, it’s not an open world decision based game, you’re not getting it tho enjoy your day😭
A second playthrough after accepting Joel's death is a must for sure. I remember on release being so pissed off at the game that it's all i thought about playing it but years later playing it again I just got it, it made sense once you can look passed it.
It seems that this is the outcome for most people and I tell this to everyone! You need to play the game twice as it'll hit different the second time! I love this game now, up there as one of the best games I've played. Before the second playthrough though, it really wasn't something I enjoyed as much 😅
I honestly couldn't believe the public outcry at Joel's death. I get that he was a beloved character, but I always understood TLOU to be a gritty story and Joel dying was always an acceptable narrative move for me. His death has a strong impact on you - which is the perfect catalyst for a revenge story because you can relate more strongly to the character's motivations for revenge. First, go around, I absolutely loved part 2. Brilliant writing, brilliant gameplay and game design. It hits you right in the feels from start to finish, and not many stories can grip you like that. Biggest flaw for me, was that Abbey is a bit of an undercooked character when she has to exist alongside such a well-developed character like Ellie. Abbey is fine - but it was an impossible task for her to live up to Ellie.
@@Potaters12i don’t think it helped that his death scene leaked and also everyone kept saying Abby is trans which incited more hate. ND took a massive risk with killing Joel off early and while i didn’t like it I understood the narrative they went with.
I’m not even gonna lie. It took me a long time to accept Joel’s death. Like literally this month. So it was fitting for the PS5 remaster to come out this month as well as a $10 upgrade since i already bought the game. I’m ready to accept what the story has because it’s actually a really beautiful story
I hope so too! I'm glad I gave the game another shot, it's a great story once you accept that Joel is gone and understand that Abby and Ellie are more alike than you think!
I didn’t finish it I stopped playing during Abby on Seattle day 3. I would go back to play it but everytime I try I get reminded how much of a slog this game is. The gameplay is great but it’s like every 10-15 mins the game pulls away the controller from you so you watch another cutscene. Gameplay is phenomenal Idk why naughty dog loves to do this
I loved every minute of playing this game. I didn't mind playing as Abby at all, first time in my gaming time I played as the protagonist & antagonist in a game and truly loved it. I got the platinum first then got the 100% when those trophies were updated. I played permadeath on easy & obviously grounded on grounded, there was no help tutorial videos on youtube when i did my grounded playthrough so I had to wing the entire thing (not that I used them often when gaming in general), but looking back at it, was one of my best gaming experiences ever. Great video
@@anthonycameron it’s easy enough not to get frustrated when you die a stupid death, like falling off the bridge, that was seriously annoying, but if it was on grounded I would have lost my shit lol
Perma death is so unforgiving. But very rewarding when you play out an encounter like the trailers they showed for this game when It came out. I'd also like to say I'm one of the few to beat it on Grounded Permadeath and not per chapter. What do I have to show for it? A New appreciation for the series and a cool anecdote that last a total of 12 seconds about beating it on the hardest difficulty. It was truly the way to play the game for a much more immersive approach. Take about 50MG of THC and live through the brutality of killing hundreds of infected and people. 10/10
Just finished the game. And I hate to admit it but you were right. Definitely it's a game that needs a second playthrough to understand and appreciate the complexity of the characters and plot. I guess the first time watching Joel die really left me in shock and my automatic response was to hate the game from then on. Thank you again for this video. You've done a great service.
Personally I played it twice but I still hated the story, gameplay was solid but on the third run that was supposed to be collectibles my distaste for it made me lose interest
I'm currently doing a Grounded run myself and I'm about halfway through Abby Day 2. It is a brutal yet incredibly satisfying experience. Interesting to see you cruise through parts I really struggled with such as The Seraphites, and vice versa, I found the woods section with Yara and Lev pretty easy. I cannot imagine doing this on a permadeth run, that is true masochism!
Tons of respect for you giving the game another go and really seeing the deeper meaning within. Great video and congrats on the accomplishment. Fantastic game.
Best game I ever played. Thousands of hours and still finding new things. Grounded permadeath (as someone who used to play everything on easy) took me about 9 months. It is A LOT! Will never stop playing these challenges and the story continues to amaze. The details are exceptional. Great video, good on you! And yes, the stalker forest is the hardest part for me too! You can learn the holdout but that forest is CURSED! Well done you!
Nah it had the *potential* to be a masterpiece. But sadly they packed it full of so much Woke nonsense and radical left wing ideology that it went from being an A+ game to a C - game. In fact Part 1 has a 96% rating. But Part 2 has a 68% rating. Because those of us who are not radical left wing extremists were not happy to spend $60 on a game only for it to be political propaganda serving as a mouthpiece for the Democrat Party. But maybe you’re a left wing extremist so that’s maybe why you enjoyed it. 🤷 Kind of like how Democrats thought the movie “Birth of a Nation” was the best film they’d ever seen. Whereas us normal people saw it as the racist garbage it was.
Once I finally understood Ellie’s motivations for wanting abby dead, I realized why Abby was spared. Ellie wanted abby dead due to her guilt for not being able to forgive joel and just how horribly she treated him. After he dies, Ellie is unable to draw joels eyes because if you remember the abbys Joel in one, you would realize how disfigured his face was. Ellie is only reminded of his mangled face because it’s a metaphor for how she only viewed joel as a physical manifestation of his lie. It’s after Ellie heads back to SB and has abby right where she wants her…. she realizes how she never truly forgave joel. She always remembered Joel for what he did and the lie that ruined their relationship. She never remembers what he meant to not only her but many TLOU fans as well. He was the man who taught her how to play guitar, how to swim and cared deeply for her. That in essence was forgiveness… she never needed to avenge him to forgive him but, remember him for who he was. After this realization, Ellie basically had no reason to kill abby anymore. We also see this reflected in her journal when she goes to the farm for the last time. She doesn’t draw joel without his eyes but with him picking away at his six string on his porch. People seem to believe that ellie didnt get her happy ending but she did. She finally lets go of joels lie and remembers him for his character. She leaves the guitar to symbolize that she’s moved on from the anger she felt for him and carries on in his memory.
agree with most of what you said but ellie most definitely did not get a happy ending, and that’s the point, revenge does not lead to happiness or getting what you want..
@@zwoptf(imo) she did get a happy ending all things considered. Yes she may have lost her 2 fingers but, she finally forgave Joel. She finally let go of her guilt and anger towards him. Her forgiveness allowed her to seek some sort of peace and allowed her to reconcile with Dina(I.e the bracelet).
Before the final fight with abby, ellie is haunted constantly haunted by that vision of disfigured joel. Only when she pushed abby under water for the first time she remembers joel looking normal again sitting on that porch. Thats when she decides to let abby go. And If we dig a bit deeper into that scene, the moment they were standing on the porch is the evening before the day of joels death. It was that night when, after ellie kissed dina and joel made a scene with the bigot (forgot his name lol), ellie came to joel. Thats the first time she opened herself up to the posibility of forgiving him. She even says that she wants to start trying. And then he dies. So she finally was ready to forgive him, but was robbed of that chance. Which is what send her into the frenzy after she got traumatized. This games story is something pretty special imo :D
When i saw what the video was about i was like "huh a suicide mission nice" But it feels so satisfying when it's finally done, great work there buddy.🥰🥰 And too be honest i have never hated the game, because i understood what Naughty Dog was trying to tell us in the story, and after the fight with Abby i was honestly crying because of the message that the game was trying to give to you. So for me it has been nothing but a master piece since day 1.
I agree. the story is much clearer when you've accepted Joel's death. it was spoiled for me when the game first came out so I took my time with it and by the time I decided to I watch a playthrough (I'm not a gamer and I don't have a console), I had already accepted his death. I watched the nicest gamer play both of the games back to back and I absolutely loved it. and I keep telling anyone who'll listen that Maggie, the girl I watched play part 2, killed the Rat King on her first try. she didn't even die. I'm so proud of her 😄
I loved Abby the first time I played through. At first I didn’t want to play her, but by the time she got to the aquarium I had the most respect and admiration for her. The forest cutscene is easily the most badass cutscene ever and it was so captivating watching it for the first time. Thanks for not talking smack about her like every other creator, she is easily my favorite character from any video game. Congrats on all the trophies!!
@@Zoepohey because ur a woman urself lol. Abby was heavily criticised. She was a masculine woman and she killed joel. His death absolutely made me rage
@@KD400_ and you have every right to be upset at Joel’s death. If someone killed Abby, I wouldn’t like them either. I relate to her a lot for many different reasons and that is the main reason I like her so much, because of how relatable she is to me. And yes the fact that we are both women helps 😁 lol
@@Zoepohey do u have Instagram if u don't mind me asking. Seems like u love abby which is fine but I couldn't accept her. Plus I was going through depression when the game came out.
I recently beat the game on grounded so if you are looking for tips, I got some great ones 1. Scour every single inch of the world, supplies are so scarce that finding a single bottle could mean the difference between life and death 2. I didnt know this until I played in grounded, but you cannot sneak up on clickers from the front, because they will screech and sense you 3. Tall grass is your best friend, if you are being attacked, dive into grass behind cover and they will lose you. 4. Use a stealth approach to every single encounter when possible 5. good luck
Yeah man, I am just starting my frist playtrough (like a bitch on moderate difficulty) and I was wondering how the hell could clickers see me, then I realized that I can't be out in front of them when they are screeching. The look on my face when it first happend was hilarious
At first I thought this video was from some youtuber with a million subscriber I've never heard of. The Thumbnails, the editing, the titles. You've really put effort into it. :)
I feel like this game will be a good example of a game that ages well. Play it once and you hate it. Play it twice and you understand it. Play it three times and you respect it.
I loved it the first time then grounded plus made me want to shoot up a nursing home in frustration with Dina’s cake blocking me from getting into cover
Happy you brought up the entirely optional Seattle music store cutscene. One of my favorites in the game as well and you can get through the whole game and never see it. Wild.
I was gonna split my grounded & permadeath run so I could do perma on easy like a bitch. You convinced me to earn the platinum the brutal way🤞🏻My Ellie Day 2 is gonna turn tarnished
That was my plan originally too but I knew if I genuinely tried my hardest, I'd eventually get through the grounded permadeath run! I'd say Ellie day 2 and Abby day 1 are definitely the hardest chapters but if you're persistent, I'm sure you can get it done 💪
Holy hell, brother! What a commitment you made here. It's genuinely impressive to watch you go through the game playing on both grounded + permadeath while getting the final trophies! And as others have said your take on the story as a whole is so refreshing, but I also feel like a lot more people are beginning to feel this way. I had the same thoughts as you, when I returned to the game. And I've seen so many others talk about TLoU2 in a more positive way! Nonetheless, congrats on the platinum! And congrats for doing it on the hardest difficulty!
You can choose how often it restarts I do it per encounter because I play simple puzzle games and suck tremendously at combat but that what I love about it
Abby is fs one of my favorite characters and I’m glad a content creator acknowledges this story and shines a more positive light on it compared to other channels, everyone is justified in what they’ve done and I love the parallels. Good video!
Great video my dude. Grounded and permadeath are no joke. I ended up doing both separately in my journey to 100%, but now I really wish I did them both together for that extra challenge. Also your note about listening mode speaks volumes. I used it way too much as a crutch on the lower difficulties of this game and still use it in other games that have a similar function. It's so hard to shake once you use it.
Okay this game along with the 1st tlou game are some of the best and most heartbreaking games out there. The amount of emotion in this game always brings me to tears no matter how many times i have played with elli singing with her guitar and Dina and her having "JJ" after everything that had happened to them its just amazing how they crafted this game and im not going to be able to watch Joel die at the hands of Abby ( which he deserved ) for the 7th time so far within 2023 and i just wanted ti say i really did enjoy your video!!....
I just played TLOU 2 on Grounded and for me the hardest bits were: The second Hillcrest segment (I wanted to take down all the enemies and loot it). The bit with the Scar sniper near the start of Abby's section. That Abby room that you struggled with, where you're waiting for Yara and Lev to open the door, what a nightmare that was, I had almost no ammo so had to melee most of the runners and shoot every clicker in the leg with one bullet and headshot them right after, and then deal with the Shamblers! And finally the last bit with Ellie, I was at no health and almost no ammo for the final rooms where all the body armour guys are. I feel your pain! PS I also fell out of bounds with Abby in the warehouse when climbing so its definitely screwed there!
I completely agree with all the challenging points that you struggled on. It's definitely a hard game and its not an easy task. Congrats for completing it on grounded! 🏆
i never finished the game because of joel but watching you go through the parts i missed actually made me sad for everyone involved. i don’t know how a 20 min platinum video could make me emotionally invested in the story but it did. great vid
Funnily enough, Druckmann originally wrote Ellie killing Abby during the final confrontation into the script, but Gross talked him out of it saying that it would suit the game's narrative better if she didn't (ending the cycle of revenge, and all that)
I think PPL also didn't like how Abby ignored Abby like just decided to forget about her and then decided to go after her again. Like when she was in that farm area?
If this is going to be the last game in the series, I feel like her dying would've narratively made more sense. I think Gross missed the mark on that one, but then again I don't expect much from Westworld writers at this point. I still love the game though.
I like that they added the missable cutscenes (especially the music shop one) It also tells u who knows how to play LOU & who doesn’t when watching different ppls playthroughs
I'm replaying this game at the moment and 5:00 is completely stuck in my head. Such a good song and such a good cover. Because of this game I found the MTV Unplugged version of the song too which is also incredible. Also, at 10:25 I completely missed that PS Vita, I just thought it was a phone every time I've played this game. Pretty impressive you did this without already maxing out weapon upgrades.
I'm glad you appreciated Abby's character and arc - I was always shocked just how anti-Abby the TLOU community was, in a way that seemed to fundamentally miss the point of the entire narrative of TLOU2. Don't get me wrong, I liked Joel a lot, but that said his actions at the end of TLOU made his death in TLOU2 completely understandable, especially from someone like Abby.
It's very American to always have a happy ending, lots of people stopped watching game of thrones after the first season when xxx got his head chopped off. Would be interesting to see how many percent of Europeans got mad about Joel's death, I think alot more over this side of the pond, prefers to have stories where you don't know what's gonna happen, i.e unhappy scenarios, where main characters gets killed off.
@@quimlidholm6261 as an American who watches a lot of foreign films, I feel like I agree. there's a tangible difference in how expectations affect the way a medium plays out and I never feel like I am *expecting" the protagonist to survive. If they do, it makes it that much more earned.
I came to the same conclusion with Joel a while ago, after I stopped being absolutely bitter about this game. I actually don’t know why people expected another happy ending for Joel
For me and many others it's not that we missed the point. It's quite the opposite. How could you NOT get the point? The game beats you over the head with its moral messages so much that it becomes pretentious. It gets old being gaslit into believing you're guilty of something as the player for a revenge arc you don't even get a say in. I wanted to kill Abby at the end just out of spite for that instead of having killed Joel. Plus being forced to play as her for the entire game when they haven't even given us a good reason to care about her character.
@@MintyLime703 But the person at the end of the game is not the one who killed Joel. How can you NOT see that? How can it not matter? How can you not see what Abby went through? And you fail to see how similar Ellie and Abby are.
Grounded by itself is ridiculously hard, enemies are like deadshot with their aim and they spot/hear you from miles away then it’s 1-2 shots and you’re down! As soon as I’m spotted I’m domed instantly. Kudos to you for having the perseverance to do this on grounded AND permadeath…..you are a madman though!
Abby is the strongest character in part 2, I’m not sure people were ready for just how nihilistic they were willing to go. I think most of the issues were with the structure and repetition rather than the plot itself
Im not going to lie, I love your content satiire. You dont put on a show for youtube, you’re lowkey, you are super honest with how you play games (esp. when you go into creative mode for a broken trophy or put a little aim assist on cause you know you suck lol) and your humor is so genius. Seriously, my fav youtuber, wish I could support you more than just a sub and some likes
Love this. Ive been an xbox guy most of my life cuz thats what i had, but when i got a lil bit of that disposable income and got a ps4 as an adult, this became easily one of my top 5 games of all time
Bro i finished this game on grounded and it was brutal and if you add the permadeath is nearly impossible, you should be proud of yourself, you gained a suscriber today best of luck.
Thank you for understanding the brilliance of the game devs!!! This is exactly how I want to make my games with such a compelling story that splits the community and the people who hate it don’t have the actual game, but how the story decides to go because that’s how you know you made an amazing game, you can’t please everyone but having the guts to kill off important characters for the sake of telling a story is just beautiful. I still get mad that Joel dies but it just makes the story the masterpiece that it is, can’t wait for TLOU3
Honestly I think the worst and best part of this game for me is that I liked Abby’s section a lot. Obviously you hate what she did to Joel but getting a different survival perspective and the way she grows as a character, also the way they interact at the very end between her and Ellie. I think I’m in the minority of really wanting a full length Lev and Abby game
i'm an Abby lover. it's really easy to see that her and Ellie are literally the same when you come down to it, hating her is just unnecessary sulking about Joel
I’m an Abby lover bc I think she was very justified in seeking revenge for what Joel did to her dad and the community of fireflies she lived with. She was consumed by revenge and hate, the same way Ellie is during her Seattle portion of the game. Both were justified (somewhat) but the cycle of violence keeps going until someone chooses to end it, which is why Ellie let her go at the end. Loved it then, loved it now!
i have a lot of respect for NaughtDog doing what they did with Abby's story. cutting from the climax to the end of the LAST game took balls, and was very well done
so glad I finally found a well-made video about tlou2 that does just crap on Abby the whole second half. after playing, I can safely say I love Abby just as much as Ellie. I'm convinced ppl who hate her never bothered to understand the actual plot or how Ellie and Abby are essentially identical
I played in NORMAL to enjoy the game. It didn't disappoint. I THEN played in GROUNDED for the challenge. It didn't disappoint. I THEN played grounded again, after discovering you earn in game points for fun little upgrades. SO, I activated 1 shot kill. It was fun, but zero challenge.
I only played the game once, and I loved it. it's great to see another person share their love of the game. Although I have a darker take on the ending of the game. I don't think Naughty Dog were trying to show Ellie moving one by leaving Joel's guitar, rather by losing some of her fingers in her mad quest for revenge she lost her last connection to him. Shown by how if you try to play the piano in the last scene you'll miss a lot of notes. By leaving Dina and their baby I think Ellie is more lost then ever making for a good starting point for the next game.
It's always interesting to see different playstyles of this game on Grounded Permadeath. I always use stealth cuz I never have enough ammo for sections you're forced into combat. Interesting to see all out fighting in Grounded.
This game has to be one of the absolute slowest burns of all time, I was so salty about Joel's death, I didn't care about Abby at all, and was so upset Ellie left her alive at the end. As you said though, after 3 years of letting myself accept Joel's death and replaying this game. It's one of the best games I've played since part 1. Yes I still hate Abby, but I understand her more now than ever, like Joel, she didn't have a choice. "Killing one to save many" is a noble way of thinking, until you, yourself are put in that situation, only then do you realize.. there was never a choice, in either scenario. Whether it was Joel killing the fireflies to save Ellie in part one or Abby killing Joel for revenge. By the end both Ellie and Abby both have become what Joel had to become in part one.
I played this game for the first time over labor day weekend and I have been obsessed ever since. To my surprise a lot of the fan base doesn’t like the story or Abby but, I think it’s amazing. 9/10 in my opinion! And Ilove that Abby’s story is just as important as Ellie’s, Lev and Maya made it worth every hour. Edit: I understand both sides of the Stories, Abby killed Joel because Joel killed her father. Ellie seeked retrubution because of it but, goes to far by killing Mel and Owen. Abby goes after Ellie for it and they fight. Because Dina was pregnant and What happened to Lev, she let’s Dina and Ellie live. Ellie could live happily but, she can’t let go and seeks after Abby again which causes her to lose everything. Abby learned to let go but, Ellie couldn’t and it destroyed her.
I love this video and I’ve honestly been waiting for a last of us grounded video, you should make series of you completing the game with another challenge but you film the progress
Great job on getting the platinum! When Part 1 comes out on PC, I really wanna give this a shot myself. Also, I'm glad you're also someone who enjoys Part 2 :)
On my 3rd playthrough grounded permadeath as well, it’s legit a pain in the ass but for some reason i just can’t stop playing and even wanted to play more, already accepted joel’s death on 1st playthrough and i kept getting so much inside depth of the story meaning after doing it many times and tryna understanding abby’s pov and combining both perspective, yet i still cried even though i already knew what’s gonna happen. Just a well crafted fucking game what can i say. But this challenge is not recommended yo.. it’s too fucking hard
I commend you for making this content I could not imagine doing this for hours and hours, I’ve never played the second game but I played the first one through more than any game in my whole 22 years alive, but I would lose my patience if I had to restart chapters over and over especially due to my own inability to see a trap or just a straight up avoidable death or something 😅 good shit bro 👏🏻 Also I was dead @13:58 when you fell through the map😭🤣 and right before that when you were trying to get on the ladder 😭😭
I could see the story of this game absolutely work, if it wasn't built on such shoddy foundations The incompetence of the Fireflies in TLOU1, the fact that the Doctor stopping Joel was holding a scalpel up to him and clearly threatening him, the fact that the Fireflies didn't even have the decency to *ask* Ellie if she wanted to volunteer to die for a CHANCE at a cure/vaccine, the fact that Joel never brought that fact up, the fact that Ellie, who was there with Joel when they discovered all the abandoned sites of the Fireflies and the Audiologs clearly stating how many of them completely mishandled the attempt at a cure, didn't come to the conclusion that the cure likely wouldn't have happened and she would've died for nothing, the fact that the doctor that's tasked with performing this highly dangerous surgery is a veterinarian... I could go on like that The pieces for a good story that truly asks the Player to reflect upon their own choices are there. It just feels so completely forced and heavy-handed with what Naughty Dog tried to build it on
I actually love that the game starts over from Abby’s POV. You think that you’re done and then they like nope and you get even more playtime- it was a pleasant surprise!
Man regardless of how you feel about the story (personally I found it incredible) you cannot deny the actual game design elements and general quality of each facet of the game. Respect.
Listen I’m gonna say it. After replaying the game for the 3rd time I still stand by the fact that it’s still a good game. Will I be the only one standing on the hill? Yes. Do I care? Fuck no
It's definitely a challenge but if you keep at it, eventually you'll get the platinum! What part of the game are you currently at? I found Day 2 with Ellie and Day 1 with abby particularly hard
@@Fx_xr2 I'm going to put a community post up tomorrow regarding this but I'm pretty sure it'll either be The Forest or Elden Ring 👍 It was going to be Hogwarts Legacy but a lot of other people have covered this game already so I'll probably play it in my own time instead 😁
I didn't understand why game got some hate for the story. I love Abby more than Ellie now, in my 1st playthrough I understood what they wanted to do and I am glad you do too now.
Dude, you're a freaking psycho. You just might be the reason they remaster Part 2 with a trophy for Grounded and Permadeath at the same time lmao. Great video!
I really hope Part 2 gets a PS5 upgrade of some extent. I'd love to play it again for the platinum, definitely if they made a Grounded + Permadeath trophy too!
I get why some people hate this game but it’s so much fun still like the best stealth/fastpace/shooter game in my opinion the story makes sense and Grounded and Permadeath together was funnnnn call me a psycho but it was😂
I personally did a first run on hard difficulty whilst paying attention to the story and my second run to clean up the trophies i did it on Permadeath and grounded 💀 i died 83 times
I went through on an orignal playthrough too, definetly the best way to attempt the platinum. 83 deaths is a great result, well done! Which part did you find the hardest?
The whole secret to grounded for me is stealth, or outrunning where you know you can, but the problem with that is you miss all the collectables in that section. In fact, unless you're 100% perfect at headshots which I definitely am not, I'd argue it's the only way. I've only clocked one guy on yt completing whole game permadeath on grounded and that was impressive. He was, understandably, pretty emotional at the end of it. Found all coins (numismatist) but despite many playthroughs I've not found all Ellie's trading cards yet. Oh well, just have to give it another try... 😂
That's because Abby is awful in every way.

ABBYK ELLIE FINNA SPIN THE BLOCK
Fun fact: If you manage to outrun the Bloater for long enough while Joel damages him, The game will spawn in a runner to grab you (I'm 90% sure you cant avoid this runner, you still have to spam click the button on screen or else the runner will actually kill you) and the bloater will grab you and then the cutscene will trigger of Joel killing the bloater.
I found this out myself when playing tlou2. I wasn't very fond of the super scripted moments in the gameplay(this one included).
@@alexisaguirrevazquez7900you gotta follow the story wdym😭

A second playthrough after accepting Joel's death is a must for sure. I remember on release being so pissed off at the game that it's all i thought about playing it but years later playing it again I just got it, it made sense once you can look passed it.
It seems that this is the outcome for most people and I tell this to everyone! You need to play the game twice as it'll hit different the second time!
I love this game now, up there as one of the best games I've played. Before the second playthrough though, it really wasn't something I enjoyed as much 😅
To me it still doesn't make sense
Great video, and I liked how playing through it again changed your perspective on the story, I hope other people get the chance to as well
I hope so too!

Gameplay is phenomenal Idk why naughty dog loves to do this
@@kickass2733 I never felt like there was an over abundance of cutscenes that's a unique criticism I've never heard...
Great video
How was permadeath on easy? It’s the only trophy I’ve still to get and am toying with giving it a try on full game perma.

Honestly. It took me 2 weeks before I beat the campaign on Grounded. It was my last trophy before getting Platinum.
Tons of respect for you giving the game another go and really seeing the deeper meaning within. Great video and congrats on the accomplishment.
Fantastic game.
I'm sorry, a BRONZE trophy for completion with permadeath?! Ain't no way 💀💀
Everyone just does it on a lower difficulty making it much easier
Kind of like how Democrats thought the movie “Birth of a Nation” was the best film they’d ever seen.
Abby should've been killed, enough said.

I watched the nicest gamer play both of the games back to back and I absolutely loved it. and I keep telling anyone who'll listen that Maggie, the girl I watched play part 2, killed the Rat King on her first try. she didn't even die. I recently beat the game on grounded so if you are looking for tips, I got some great ones
1. Scour every single inch of the world, supplies are so scarce that finding a single bottle could mean the difference between life and death
2. I didnt know this until I played in grounded, but you cannot sneak up on clickers from the front, because they will screech and sense you
3. Tall grass is your best friend, if you are being attacked, dive into grass behind cover and they will lose you.
4. Use a stealth approach to every single encounter when possible
5. good luck
Yeah man, I am just starting my frist playtrough (like a bitch on moderate difficulty) and I was wondering how the hell could clickers see me, then I realized that I can't be out in front of them when they are screeching. The look on my face when it first happend was hilarious

omg this entire time i’ve thought permadeath literally made you restart the entire game
It can, if you make the settings like that. Imagine getting to the sly bridge and then falling
You can choose how often it restarts I do it per encounter because I play simple puzzle games and suck tremendously at combat but that what I love about it
Having the settings with both permadeath and grounded difficulty I feel like this takes a lot of patience this was absolutely fantastic great video

Tlou 1 is unmatchable, i wish i could find a game half as good as it

amazing video, rly good job and props for the grounded + permadeath playthrough
Dina giving us a warning saved probably 90% of players if not everyone
I like that they added the missable cutscenes (especially the music shop one)
It also tells u who knows how to play LOU & who doesn’t when watching different ppls playthroughs
The missable cutscene is such a great one. It's really surprising how missable it is considering how much impact it has!

You deserve way more subs my man, what a time investment!
Thank you 💜
Honestly I think the worst and best part of this game for me is that I liked Abby’s section a lot.
What an amazing game, definitely something that had to come with controversy, which shows how important the game was
Agree with your assessment 100%, I didn’t hate my first time tho…but enjoyed the game even more 2nd.

so glad I finally found a well-made video about tlou2 that does just crap on Abby the whole second half. after playing, I can safely say I love Abby just as much as Ellie.
By leaving Dina and their baby I think Ellie is more lost then ever making for a good starting point for the next game.
as a bro whos gotten platinum/100% on this game, i can agree GROUNDED IS INSANE
28 hours my god.. what a trooper. great video, I was hooked throughout the whole vid! good work
It's always interesting to see different playstyles of this game on Grounded Permadeath.
10:37 caught me so far off guard and I couldn't stop laughing
Since Uncharted 2, i've been playing every single Naughty dog game in the hardest difficulty because it's so damn good
Joel's death was stupid. Joel was always cautious and paranoid. He would never enter a hideout without being sure that it was safe
13:52 this is so fcking funny. I just imagine Mel confused af thinking why would she jump having freaking stairs in front of her xd
Glad this page got recommended to me it’s high quality content from a smaller creator
Appreciate it! There's more content on the way soon! 😁
I commend you for making this content I could not imagine doing this for hours and hours, I’ve never played the second game but I played the first one through more than any game in my whole 22 years alive, but I would lose my patience if I had to restart chapters over and over especially due to my own inability to see a trap or just a straight up avoidable death or something 😅 good shit bro 👏🏻
Also I was dead @13:58 when you fell through the map😭🤣 and right before that when you were trying to get on the ladder 😭😭
The patience you have in order to beat permadeath is actually insane. I want a rage compilation from you
I really think that the people who initially hated the story only to appreciate it later on did so because they matured as people.
it’s also just better not to hate or criticize everything, and appreciating the positives and genuinely bold aspects of (part ii) it
Still hate it 😂
Or they just didn't like it....
@@watchmehope6560 …because they are still immature and don’t yet understand the concepts the game is presenting the player with.
I could see the story of this game absolutely work, if it wasn't built on such shoddy foundations
The incompetence of the Fireflies in TLOU1, the fact that the Doctor stopping Joel was holding a scalpel up to him and clearly threatening him, the fact that the Fireflies didn't even have the decency to *ask* Ellie if she wanted to volunteer to die for a CHANCE at a cure/vaccine, the fact that Joel never brought that fact up, the fact that Ellie, who was there with Joel when they discovered all the abandoned sites of the Fireflies and the Audiologs clearly stating how many of them completely mishandled the attempt at a cure, didn't come to the conclusion that the cure likely wouldn't have happened and she would've died for nothing, the fact that the doctor that's tasked with performing this highly dangerous surgery is a veterinarian...
I could go on like that
The pieces for a good story that truly asks the Player to reflect upon their own choices are there. It just feels so completely forced and heavy-handed with what Naughty Dog tried to build it on
True and I find most of the dialogues cringe
Exactly doubles the time..
Wow, doesn't make it look easy at all, but sure deserve admiration for the time and persistent.. well played
I actually love that the game starts over from Abby’s POV. You think that you’re done and then they like nope and you get even more playtime- it was a pleasant surprise!
I Platinumed this game a couple weeks ago, but those Grounded and Permadeath trophies can stay unchecked lol
I did this and it took me almost 100 hour. But if lord gave me a second chance, I would do it all over again.
People are finally starting to come around to this game
Man regardless of how you feel about the story (personally I found it incredible) you cannot deny the actual game design elements and general quality of each facet of the game. Respect.
Listen I’m gonna say it. After replaying the game for the 3rd time I still stand by the fact that it’s still a good game. Will I be the only one standing on the hill? Yes. Do I care? Fuck no
No you’re not the only one. Part II was a masterpiece so WE will defend this hill
@@joshuarogers5563 good to have you on this hill friend.
4:33, the scent of a love one who passed away is so comforting yet so sad..
I’m doing this game now inorder to get the plat and get the grounded permadeath trophies, so far it’s been hell
It's definitely a challenge but if you keep at it, eventually you'll get the platinum!
What part of the game are you currently at? I found Day 2 with Ellie and Day 1 with abby particularly hard
@@Satiire Abby day 1. May I ask what game are you going to make a video about getting the platinum next
@@Fx_xr2 I'm going to put a community post up tomorrow regarding this but I'm pretty sure it'll either be The Forest or Elden Ring 👍
It was going to be Hogwarts Legacy but a lot of other people have covered this game already so I'll probably play it in my own time instead 😁
Im really glad people are replaying this game and changing their minds about it
I didn't understand why game got some hate for the story. I love Abby more than Ellie now, in my 1st playthrough I understood what they wanted to do and I am glad you do too now.
That’s not good lol. She’s a good character but you definitely shouldn’t like her more
@@jarkohs she’s a buff woman ima love her more than ellie
@@goblincaged3898 You love the person who executed Joel more than you love the person who Joel died for👍🏼
@@jarkohs Abby didn’t kill Joel wdym
@@goblincaged3898 👍🏼
Awesome video dude congrats💪🏼
@@Satiire defintly the marina part on ch37 i think
@@pls6749 Did you take out each enemy? I can definitely see how that would be time consuming 😅
