I believe PyroKinesis is played over Fury since it is a 6 cmc spell and doesn't interfere with the chain as much since it can't be hit off of the lower half of your Cascade spells. I could very well be wrong, but that is what it looks like to me.
That force of despair was hilarious, lol. Especially when it looked like you finally caught a break. I have force of despair in my sideboard for turbo goblins and I just realized I've forgotten to take it out now that name sticker is banned.
isnt it better to just have the trickery package in the main deck so that you can go off turn 2/3 more consistently versus dying to wasteland on the same turns? also @33:30 uhhhh.... cut boseiju for otawara to deal with the enchantment? 😅
Trickery loses to a single counterspell which is why it's a nono in a lot of matchups. The appeal is kind of that you can go through some permission with the bigger cascaders.
In practice, no. If you are worried about disruption getting under the deck you should play TES/Doomsday/Oops all spells. The main deck configuration is meant to consistently and reliably beat countermagic on turn 3. The Throes/Trickery package just adds more randomness to that in the main deck.
i’d assume dream halls is in the sideboard to stop you from totally folding to t3feri since you can’t kill it with a single carnosaur if it starts ticking up
Wow, the universe perfectly aligned to make sure this deck had a bad time. Finishing off the entire experience with Force of Despair. Is this deck good? No. Does this league show that off? Also no, it just shows how incredibly unlucky you were
This deck should really be running the throes mainbaord, if might miss more often but the speed increase means it gives your opponents lets opportunities to find hate pieces.
at 22:40, did Call Forth the Tempest not work or something? It looked like it left the stack, but your opponent didn't take any damage. Is it bugged on MTGO, or am I just missing something?
Still watching the video, but I think R1G1 that hand is a mulligan. You had only ETB tapped 2 mana lands, and only a 6 mana combo piece. That means you don't get access to 6 mana until after you untap on turn 4. You either needed a untapped sol land to cast protégé on turn 3 or a creative technique to utilize an untapped 1 mana source like Otawara. I think turn 4 attempts are just too slow. In that last game, with the force of despair, you may have been better served making your protégés copy strix for the card draw. More Dinos was overkill, and the extra card draws could have possibly helped you get to combo off again the following turn.
This deck is an example of why having a single win condition is typically a bad idea. It's impressive when the stars align and the combo goes off, but a simple daze or force of will trips up the strategy completely and by that time, you're too slow and too far gone to win. Especially since it's reliant upon sacrifice lands to kick off. Fun to see, but it's basically high risk high reward, and the risk is far too high to be any kind of consistent against decks with multiple win conditions or "single win condition with ways to protect the win condition"
You need a spell to counter. If you Throes into Trickery, then Trickery counters the Throes which puts it into the graveyard. If Trickery then hits another Trickery, then the only spell on the stack is the Trickery that is currently resolving. If you try to target that, then the second Trickery will fizzle as soon as the first finishes resolving.
Could be an option, but I think it's just less castable than the 6 mana spells and only "Cascades" from your own library once, unlike the other 7+ mana ones.
See... Arcane Bombardment would be more reliable than this deck. For all the people who think it can't work... I'm pretty sure it works better than this one ^^

Yup, pretty much the idea of the non-Trickery side is hit 6 mana and fire off right away.
Part of me loves to see glass cannon decks ride the rocket to the moon. Another part of me loves to see them fall completely flat.
Such is the truth of these decks
As a person running a Laelia cascade deck in EDH, I can understand.
I do love the '402 revealed cards' note that showed up at one point
That Force of Despair just broke me.
...and I think Phil too
Spoilers!
it's not even named after food, how could it be a real legacy deck?
you can eat mississippi, if you really wanted
@@IeuroIi've tried, tastes like mud
We had Ice Station Zebra and Tin Fins from an old adult swim show, too. It passes the vibe check
Can we rename the deck Impossible Whopper?
I vote to name it spaghetti surprise

I feel dirty after watching what they did to you. That force of despair was heartbreaking.
That force of despair was brutal
@33:30 isnt Boseiju better for the enchantment at 2 mana vs Otowars for 4?
There looks to be more lands that produce blue colors than there are for green, especially double blue vs double green, at least at a glance
@@saiconjr That makes sense. ty
46 minutes...this is either going to be great or terrible. I'm here for it.
5:17 Fury costing 5 means it will interfere with the combo, which is probably the reason it's still using Pyrokinesis.
33:21 why did you cut boseiju for otawara? both of those deal with roiling vortex.
Mississippi River is an amazing deck name
I love having Trumpeting Carnosaur for the Show and Tell matches.

honestly doesn’t seem that much better than playing big idiot so i could be wrong

That first game was brutal; I would have been curious what the deck was doing if I was the Scam-imate player
Yeah, that player had two nutty hands, double Wasteland and then double Reanimate.
Finally cascades into emrakul… boardwipe
LETS GOOOOO FORCE OF DESPAIR
LOVE THAT CARD
Against roiling vortex can't you just choose not to cast the spell? I think that was a change made when discover was added as a mechanic
what about hit the motherload that could be a good one to add cuz it gives treasures for later or future spells

It only damages creatures
@@cjgj Oh, reading the card explains the card. For some reason, I was thinking that it just hits the opponent directly.
Violent Outburst + Tibalt's Trickery version seems riskier but much faster.
If you have a nvidia rtx gpu you can use nvidia broadcast as a sound filter. Its realy good at filtering random background noises.
Love your stuff sir
blessed list cursed league 👍
I surely hope I see a bonkers Call Forth this league!

I have a question, why did you cut boseiju against the red enchantment?
Looks like the deck is a bit lacking on green sources.
Oh boy, what a rough league. Things just did not line up at any point. Hopefully things get better the rest of the week!

awesome deck, really love the cascade bullshit
Obligatory algorithmic contribution
Feels like time to do something against scam
