You know, I don't hate meta stablished decks, but these are the kind of titles that make me click off whatever I was doing and come watch immediately. I'd tell you to keep it up, but I'm sure you'll raise the bar now that you have the time.
That seems awesome. Pretty similar to Wasteland in that each time you deny them you're getting more lands. But Rishadan is repeatable without Ramunap or Loam. Good idea
Phyrexian furnace is a slight better version of claws (though very slightly). Rishadan port feels like a cool way of repeteable trigger though indeed may be too slow /colorless problem. Have a good day Phil, always fun to see you enjoying blowing some lands!
Yup saw this too. Pretty sure it auto wins the game for him too. Rabble can’t attack into the 3/4, so the token suicides (and we save 4 hp). Then the rabble cant get to 4 attack without 2 tokens so it’s permanently walled until OPP draws more action, which as we saw in the video wouldn’t have happened in time.
This deck was cool, but round 4 opponent's "Sneak and Show and Breach Worldspine Wurm feat. Elemental Eruption" deck was something else. I wonder if you could get a list from them. Edit: Crucible of Words has a video up with that deck today.
One note to those who would complain about looking players up on MTGO: in paper you can watch other players' matches to get information on deck choice, which is basically the same thing.
It's actually worse in person IMO, because when players form teams they share that info with eachother, too. Makes it harder for un-established players to break in
That was a great league. Love the idea of the deck. When I first looked at that card I was thinking about some form of green post/amulet of vigor deck. Amulet of vigor in particular seems like a strong consideration here if I was to build something with the freestrider.
@39:32 you draw second ancient tomb which means that you could have made second construct still, search map, play second tomb, use it to fetch with map, and then play karakas as your second land drop.
Scrabbling claws!! I have it in my Alibou EDH deck but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it played since. Also want to shoutout my favorite card for making opponents care about graveyard order Phyrexian Furnance
Ooc in g2 of r4 at 42:45 why did you not play out exploration before sphere? I assume playing around Mindbreak Trap but you could've led on Boseiju (which you were already planning on playing) then played exploration into ancient tomb into sphere then not needed to play the mox diamond yet so you could keep wasteland as an option in case you wanted to use it still playing around trap (or just play mox diamond t1 as 3rd spell)
Round 2, you floated mana with Urza's Saga and got a mox diamond, but didn't use the Life from the Loam in hand at that point. Is there a reason for that?
apparently worlds and the replacement for grand prixs don't feature legacy at all. modern dropped as a worlds format in 2017. so is it all just to push standard, cause it generates the most revenue, or why are other formats neglected by wizards? if u happen to know. feels really shitty for the community on wizards end to not support legacy for example, which is just an incredible format. also sad that SCG doesnt seem to host their video covered legacy event with commentators anymore, i really enjoyed those.
Has anyone considered phyrexian furnace over scrabbling claws? Oldest card from the graveyard is marginally better than the opponent's choice in my opinion. That and it lets you play more than 4 copies if your deck cares about it.

Rishadan Port seems very amazing with lookout
GW lands and taxes?
That seems awesome. Pretty similar to Wasteland in that each time you deny them you're getting more lands. But Rishadan is repeatable without Ramunap or Loam.
Good idea
Thraben University. Phil is a teacher, it all makes sense now
Good man to keep working with people. Keeps you balanced.
Man I love Freestrider Lookout so damn much. It's such a cool ramp engine and I hope it does well here.
Phyrexian furnace is a slight better version of claws (though very slightly). Rishadan port feels like a cool way of repeteable trigger though indeed may be too slow /colorless problem. Have a good day Phil, always fun to see you enjoying blowing some lands!
It looks better, until your opponent targets a creature in your graveyard...
Honestly I haven't thought about that implication, yeah reanimate grief so popular you're right.
Man I haven't heard the name Sylvan Plug in YEARS. I'm excited for this one
18:56 couldn't you have just green sun for reclaimer on your previous turn with the urza's saga mana?

I think Endurance out for a Dryad Arbor greatly improves the consistency of the deck. The Green Sun’s are quite clunky in the current list.

One note to those who would complain about looking players up on MTGO: in paper you can watch other players' matches to get information on deck choice, which is basically the same thing.
And a lot of high level tournaments are OPEN DECK LISTS with your opponents' names and decks clearly accessible.
It's actually worse in person IMO, because when players form teams they share that info with eachother, too. Makes it harder for un-established players to break in
A Sylvan WHAT now!?
ive been waiting for this list for a while

TIL Agathas soul cauldron has that color filtering text
I feel like a walking ballista would work well in this deck as an extra threat as well as something that could commit a crime at instant speed
@39:32 you draw second ancient tomb which means that you could have made second construct still, search map, play second tomb, use it to fetch with map, and then play karakas as your second land drop.
Scrabbling Claws is just a delayed release Soul-Guide Lantern. Neat!
Scrabbling claws!! I have it in my Alibou EDH deck but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it played since. Also want to shoutout my favorite card for making opponents care about graveyard order Phyrexian Furnance
Also curious if maybe an amulet of vigor to come out of saga could help with lookout’s lands coming into play tapped?

...I am playing against Burn. I don't want to take 2 damage.
@@ThrabenUniversity They were on Sneak and Show no? I dont think 2 damage changes the clock in that MU
This deck feels strong af.
Obligatory algorithmic contribution
18:36 Loam back Ancient Tomb & Urza's Saga?
One thing about you being a content creator is that your opponents will never know you’re playing when they search you up lmaooo
Getting those Freestrider Lookout reps before you get to brew up my GW list after mh3 :^)
I love this deck!
Isn't Phyrexian Furnace just better than scrabbling claws since it doesn't give the opponent a choice of what to exile.
The ability to target yourself and remove a card your opponent might be trying to Reanimate seems important in this meta.
wtf round 1, game 2 was such a toxic 5card hand for the match up xD
Round 2, you floated mana with Urza's Saga and got a mox diamond, but didn't use the Life from the Loam in hand at that point. Is there a reason for that?
I was wondering the same thing at first, it was so his Elvish Reclaimer would be 3/4 to block the Rabblemaster.

Just an fyi soul cauldron allows you to activate abilities with any color of mana. That's how they used their Zabaz.
Thing has so much text I forgot it did that.
Phil figured it out in the video as well.
@@DankAudioStash24 oh seems like I missed it mb.
"Targeting opponents, anything they control, and/or cards in their graveyards is a crime" what was this designed by a commander player? HEYO
Does this deck want a first amulet of vigor before the 3rd/4th claw thing? (can’t remember the name lol)
Has anyone considered phyrexian furnace over scrabbling claws? Oldest card from the graveyard is marginally better than the opponent's choice in my opinion. That and it lets you play more than 4 copies if your deck cares about it.
...until your opponent targets a creature card in your graveyard!
A Boseju out for a Rishadan Port is also interesting.
No consideration for a miser's dryad arbor for the green suns?
It's totally reasonable.
@18:44 why not Boseju the Chrom mox?
You are asking why I don't turn their thing that produces 1 red mana into a thing that produces 1 red mana at the cost of one of my cards.
What does Phil teach?
Latin
Any thoughts on Wight of the Reliquary for Legacy?
I'll be testing it soon!
Good one
Against stomps I think you should've brought in haywire mite
Can we call this gw crime lands?
out of interest, what do you teach? (and what ages?)
Latin, 8th grade
g1r1 not a bad 6 card hand to start the video
Lol 40 min in gonna just hard ritual emrakul out, really gonna turn that wheel hard
man, I haven't heard the name "sylvan plug" in a long time. that's an mtgthesource creation, right?
i guess you have to play again.
> done with summer job
> not even summer yet
lol
You misunderstood. I am off of my normal teaching job for the summer.
@@ThrabenUniversity oh… but it’s not funny this way :(
