This is amazing! Maybe this is one reason why they said many Filipinos sing really good is that “a” sound is a natural vowel in our language. Terrific discovery! I’ve subscribed to your channel long time ago, but I don’t usually get to see the videos. But now, I think I’d pay attention to them. Practice with them, apply them. I’m already 63, a mediocre singer who did not pursue to improve what I already have. Maybe, I could still improve using your techniques. Thank you! I’m your new fan from the Philippines!
This is so incredibly helpful. My coach has been very attentive to my “ahhh” sound and I always wondered why she was such a stickler. You helped me connect the concept of vowel sound and open throat. Thank you for all you do to make the world sound more beautiful!
Try doing an 'uh' (but sung more like 'erh') then move onto 'Ah' it can help to get things in the right place - Also, when singing do regular 'ah' checks during brief pauses to check your throat is still open as the consonants will tend to close it up.
Thank you for revealing these hidden tips that have yet to reach the general public. Your efforts are paving the way for a brighter and more enriched singing community. Thanks for your efforts , I am learning singing with a confidence now.
THANK YOU Freya! This is what I needed to help me with the tightness that is sometimes evident. I tried those sounds as I watched and listened and already I can feel a difference. This is amazing. My new "go to" !
I really like how you explain things, even I understand. I was trying to make "o" sound in the past. "Sweet" is a perfect example, but still need lots of practice. Easier said then done.
Thank you so much, this is incredibly helpful and is the missing piece of information that I've been searching for and that 4 different voice teachers over two years weren't able to show me properly the way you were able to in five minutes, thank you so much!
Your videos are amazing, thanks so much! I’m a soprano trying to extend my range and singing with an open throat is absolutely the right way to do it! Only problem is the stress when I’m singing in rehearsal and tense up and the b flat just doesn’t happen! But I’m going to keep practising, thank you so much for doing this, you’re phenomenal!
Thank you! Some bad sickness a while back damaged some of the nerves in my throat so it’s hard to feel the change between making different sounds. This gives me something to shoot for.
That was always for me the most hardest of all. The Ahhhhhh I still have sometimes the problem of placement but now I can feel it and hear it and I correct my self but it’s good sometimes come back to basics!! Thanks you!
Dear mrs. Freya, your advices are really helpful, thank you for posting them! Thanks to you,I finally managed to sing my 'a' with an open throat as well as having better breath support!
Thank you for this video. I'm from the USA and you are so kind for sharing your videos with me. I've subscribed to you like, two years back and you are so good at what you are doing. God bless you.

Great Excercies thanks for sharing Freya 👍🏽, I'd love you to do a video on Soul and R&B Singing in Twang, and head voice, keep up the great work 👏🏽 👏🏽 👍🏽 🎤 🎶
a big part of my lessons was to learn to "mispronounce" words. "Creep" is sung as "Crape". it sounds weird on the inside, but on the outside it's right. same with "here". it's sung as "hair".
This has helped soo much!!! I can’t thank you enough! You’ve made me realize singing well is technical not “ Talent “!!! We can all SING! Do you give one on one lessons ?
that's absoultly true that A value is really important but then become thounge frctions that dont let you sing some part of the stuffs or most of them so you have too undrestand how too relax thounge and then use A value for it there is no toher way then you can sing fully open with perfect bright sounding . but everything what is sad in this video is truth it s first etap for open throat good luck people !!
I think opening of throat would be a gteat muscle exercise more so in singing liturgical songs most commonly during the celebration of the holy mass. Is it really important to exhaust the remaining air in your tummy especially when prolonging the whole notes? Please give me ideas in making my throat muscle relax.

I master open “Ah” since 2012 after I started to learn Ken Tamplin’s method. You do it in your special way and prove that it is right!❤

Hello, there is no better teacher than you
What a fantastic video!!!! It seems to be the style these days for singers to mumble with their throats and mouths half closed. Loved this. ❤😃

In my opinion, this video plus Freya's video on initiating open throat with the beginning of a yawn can make the open throat happen.
