    6/13/2022 Update
    The 64GB and 128GB Micro SD cards can actually be used on this printer, but it only supports the FAT32 file system. As Windows 10 can only format external USB larger than 32GB to exFAT, after using Linux (or Mac) to format the Micro SD card to FAT32, both 64GB and 128GB worked fine with the printer.
    (I would like to thank Candice from Bambu for clarifying this)
    ************************************************
    Welcome back to Aurora Tech Channel. Two weeks ago, I made an introduction video for the Bambu Lab X1. It’s a $1000 range 3D printer that is packed with a lot of advanced features that blow every 3D printer between $500-$5000 away. I walked through the features and did some quick tests like the 12-and-a-half minute ABS 3D benchy in the last video, and the results seem quite impressive.
    Today, I will do a follow-up video after I spent another 2 weeks with it and did more of test prints with different materials. I will show you what can you expect from this printer, what you can’t expect, and talk about the Pros and Cons. I won’t go over the features again in this video, if you want to watch my last video to learn more about that, please also check out this video:

    In my opinion.. she is the best 3d printer reviewer. I don't know how old she is.. but she is insanely thorough on every aspect of the 3d printers. I would love to see her review other technology. Also.. her subscriber base should grow exponentially.. especially if she starts reviewing other tech. She could make a crap load of money from video reviews like this!

    Just wanted to say that I found your channel today (after following other 3D printer channels for years) and really found a much more methodoloical approach to reviewing/testing printers in a concise manner. Very good job at getting information out and what you personally feel about these products yourself. This channel deserves more love.

  • @melgross
    @melgross ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Good review. But, some other channels are reporting a number of problems such as problems with the AMS, where reels that are less than one half full tend to be pulled up by the filament drive, and hit the fiver. It then stops turning. And the filament stops. Other reels may not fit. The spaghetti warming doesn’t seem to work, and a major mess can result. The WiFi is so slow that it can take up to two hours to transfer a model to the printer, and the printer doesn’t retain it after printing, so if a problem occurs, or you want to make multiples, you have to send it each time. The fan us good, but for Jäegermeister models, the temperature varies across the bed, and parts on the right side may come out distorted.
    Those are the major problems reported in late updated models. I’m interested in this model, but after seeing numerous reviews, I would recommend waiting for the retail models to come out, even at the higher price, and after a number of reviews come in. 3D printers can be very frustrating, even if they have no major problems. This seems to have more than it should at this point. Software problems can usually be resolved, but aren’t always, as it could be asking for something to be resolved that the hardware simply can’t do, but hardware problems are a different story. They may never get fixed, and if they do, they may not be available for older models because of incomparable design changes, or just because the company wants to save them for new machines coming off the line.
    At any rate, this is a company to watch. I hope it works out.

    The printer was a bit complicated to hook up th-cam.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 but it does the job very efficiently. I like the ink wells versus the ink cartages that cost an arm and a leg. It prints quickly and the quality is excellent. It shuts off when not in use, so you have to remember to turn it on. Overall, it exceeds my expectations. I'll update my review in a couple of months.

    You can actually configure the purge amounts with the "flushing volumes" setting!
    Also, larger sd cards do work, but you have to format it to fat32 on a pc first. I'm using 128gb without issue

    FAN-TAS-TIC. The pro's: professional, acccurate, innovative, informatrive, quite a variety of filaments tested, realistic use of the printer is the main focus. The cons: no bloopers.
    This in depth review most certainly lifts you into and above the top class of TH-cam 3D printing reviewers. This actually is the best CarbonX 1 review I watched. Even you are deeply excited about this printer you try hard to stay true and objective. Congratulations and thank you for your hard work, Aurora Tech team. Nice glasses by the way.

  • @matbroomfield
    @matbroomfield ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That was a superb review. A number of your issues have been addressed.
    1. You can specify the amount of purge used on filament colour changes (but presets would still be great)
    2. Yes, filament change is time consuming and wasteful, but your poker chip was the worst possible case as it had colours ALL THE WAY through. Using the software, you could have simply painted the upper and lower surfaces of the chip to reduce the number of colour changes.
    4. Not only should cold extrusion noty be alloowed, but you can crash the tool head into the base of the unit by using the move commands. Unforgivable. There should be a limiter.
    5. The printer produces HIGH FREQUENCY noise (mostly caused by the fan). This is MUCH easier to mask than the low frequency noise of printers like the Guider, slamming the head around. Merely placing it in another room masks most of it. There is also a fan baffle available on Thingiverse that will significantly reduce the fan's output volume.
    8. There is a textured plate available from Bambu - it works superbly
    9. The nozzle and block costs £14 and shipping is localised. Compare that Flashforge, who sell brass or steel nozzles for a couple of dollars, but then charge £30 in shipping as they have centralised fulfillment and send everything by international courier, with no cheaper option.

  • @mctazman407
    @mctazman407 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    The user can actually set the purging lengths, so there is a lot of room for improvement before they're shipped :D Hope you shared your findings with BambuLab?

    Accidentally hit the Aurora channel. I was looking for information about bamboo. In my opinion, a serious application for a new approach to 3D printing.
    Now, I'm looking at all the reviews, even those printers that I'm not interested in, but the author expresses his thoughts so competently and interestingly that without a doubt, if I buy a printer, I will rely on her opinion. In my opinion, the most interesting blogger, even compared to millionaires. It seems to me that it is worth watching this blog, because you can be practically sure that firms do not buy the opinion of Aurora, which many popular bloggers do. Good luck

    As expected, you and brother produce outstanding videos packed with real info for us to consider. My use of 3D printers is not models and/or cute items but prototype parts for robotic cars and handy lab/home parts. Thus, printing at high speed is essential (permitting multiple designs versions) while filament changing is unnecessary. This printer still seems like a real winner; I would love to see a version with a 0.8 mm nozzle for even higher throughput.

    Such a great review! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together so professionally. To me, the main take from the video is that while this printer seems like a big step forward for 3D printers - there is yet much progress to be made in the domain of 3D printing. In particular - multi color printing reminds me the days in which we switched from black and white computer screens to the four colors CGA monitors. It was an important advancement in the correct direction, but it took many more years to reach millions of colors as standard.
    Again - thanks!

    Amazing job w/ the review. It's not often a reviewer actually goes in depth with how someone would actually try to use the machine w/ various materials. Reciting stats and doing a benchy is well and all..but it often doesn't help figure out day in and day out performance. This gave me an excellent idea of how I could use this the printer. I wasn't too keen on getting the AMS but I often struggle with support material on models...I could really use a combination of support material and PLA like you did.

    Wow, this is the best review I’ve seen of this machine yet! I like the amount of testing you did with it, your clear presentation, and the way you methodically list pros and cons. => The most important thing is that you covered *FILAMENT CHANGE TIME*(!) How is it possible that yours is the first review I’ve seen that gives the timing for this!
    I’ve been considering this machine, but the filament change time really gives me pause, because it can so enormously lengthen the print times.
    I don’t care so much about multicolor printing, I’d probably mostly just use the AMS to keep multiple filament types ready to go, in a dry environment. My biggest reason for wanting multi-material capability is for better support removal. I guess the time increase wouldn’t be so bad if I just use thin layers of support material at the interfaces, but it’s something I need to ponder. I’m still leaning towards buying the machine, but need to think a bit more about my use cases.
    The important thing though, is that you gave me a very valuable piece of information to factor into my purchase decision that I hadn’t gotten from anyone else. MANY THANKS!

    Good to see this review. I watched your original review and bought in on the Kickstarter. This does seem to be ahead of its counterparts.

    She looks like a little girl, but she is sharp as a tack and knows her way around 3D FDM printers, and does a great job of choosing points to make and editing. Bravo!

    Thank you very much for this in-depth review : it's very informative and a lot better than most reviewers, who don't get beyond telling us the things we already got from the manufacturer's website and printing of parts in PLA . I am surprised that PETG prints need to be printed at slower speed. That is not what Rolohaun is showing on his channel. Did you ask Bambu Lab about this ? PETG is a very popular material : it's almost unthinkable that Bambu labs would build a printer that performs so poorly with PETG.

    Great review! I do have a suggestion: when listing off the pros and cons with the numbering system, maybe put a short summary of it as text on screen of us visual learners?

    Interesting results you got with the petg, I have printed a decent amount myself on my x1 and never slowed down from the default standard speed with good results so far.

    Hands down the best 3D printer reviewer I've seen. Unlike that Creality shill "something-nerd".

    Excellent review. This is the first review I've seen that tries PETG, which is my primary go-to filament. And I was wondering about micro SD card capacity, which you answered. Thanks for all your hard work and thorough presentation.

    I’ve seen a lot of reviews about this printer. I’m waiting for the Carbon X1 model with ams.
    No other review has been nearly this complete, thanks for making a great review/preview (software still in beta) of this!
    There’s no such thing as a perfect, never-fail 3D printer at this time, but they’ve clearly gotten far more right than perhaps anything else out there, and worst-case scenario, that can be stated for the price.
    I’m looking forward to adding this to my collection and printing through way too many rolls of filament 🤣🤣🤣
    I think the first thing I need for this is to print a poop-chute basket: how tall, I don’t know, guess I’ll have to wait until August (assuming they can ship it out that early, I didn’t get in on-time for early bird).

    This is insane! This is going to clear the market what's currently flooded with junk. Others like QIDI are going to have to step up big time or drop their prices to remain competitive.

      Its more likely Bambu lab prices will increase, these machines are made to a certain price point as can be seen by the motion system and the type of construction but even still the initial sales prices do seem low even for Chinese manufactured hardware, so either they have basically no profit margin and are hoping to sell a huge volume and disrupt the market or they have made an error in their costings and will end up needing to up their prices. only time will tell. Its also certainly not true LIDAR at this price point.

    Thank you very much for the detailed review. Please keep updating if you get new fw/sw improvements. Also please try some(4) high speed benchys 90* turned to test the big side fan and the missing on the other side. Also please print some torture toasters in PC and other professional filaments.

    I'm glad you got one to play with. I'm experiencing bad customer service from Bambu Lab so far. After 9 days of numerous emails and an opened service ticket I still get a run around "scripted" responses from Bambu Lab about my returned package since I wasn't home to sign for it. All I need to know was if they could redeliver so I can plan my works accordingly but can't seem to get an answer to it. I think they outsourced their customer service to a remote third parties so all I got were scripted answers to a simple question. Bad customer experience with Bambu Lab so far.
