My old Bolex Rex 4 16mm camera has been sitting neglected on a shelf for the past 5 + years and so I decided to dust it off to test its working condition. I shot this on a random visit to Fallingwater with an old roll (6+ years unrefrigerated) of Kodak TRI-X. Very happy to see the Bolex seems to be in proper working order and ready for some future films.

Tri x is by far the best black and white film.

Great Ryan, I love this Kodak film and the 16mm Bolex H16 cameras (I've buy a Rex 5 just one weeks ago!) May I ask you which lens did you use for? Thanks!

Thanks! This was mostly shot on a kern vario switar 17-85 f3.5 - one or two shots might be in the kern 25mm 1.4 as well.

@@RyanNavazio Great! Your video has convinced me to purchase a couple of this amazing black and white film.

Beautiful footage! Registration is rock steady. Exposure looks spot-on. Perhaps you could bring up the midtones just a bit in digital post, if you like that is.

thanks! I didn't have much room to do post work on this film because I only had a low quality transfer done.

I'm in agreement that this is very pretty footage for old film that was not stored for long term storage. Where did you get it developed and transferred?

      Pro8mm - and it’s a pretty low quality scan….

@@RyanNavazio I think it being black and white probably helped with the bitrate of the scan tbh, still looks pretty good
