- Six years after our first visit to Iceland we return to this mystical island. With very little planning and a short amount of time, we spent 3 days camping on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and the South Coast. There's an ancient energy in Iceland that is difficult to describe. Shooting on 16mm felt like the perfect medium to capture the otherworldly beauty of the island. The weather conditions throughout the trip made it particularly challenging to use a Bolex but the images made it worthwhile.

Gorgeous stuff, I went there on my honeymoon in March 2022 and this really captures it's beauty!
Love that, thank you!!
4k in 16mm film always amazes me.....
Outstanding, beautiful color, and scenery.
This is STUNNING. The music. The images. A perfect combination and truly captures what Iceland feels like.
Easy to say when you’re in it! 😂
Hehe trueeee but who better to say it feels accurate than me 😊

Can’t have an iceland film with no ponies 😂 - thanks !
This is just wonderful. Very emotional shots of a place I would love to visit sometime. Also love the 1440p. Well done.

2 hours of relaxing 16mm travel cinematography…coming soon.
👏👏👏 very nice images and film
Thanks for watching !
Wow Ryan you have really outdone yourself! Beautifully shot and graded, I love the discipline in your shot selection, so well thought out and executed. Do you add any post stabilization on your handheld shots?
Thank you!! I’ve only had to stabilize a few of the high frame rate shots in this because my Bolex needs service and the footage gets jumpy when overcranked. The elements definitely took a toll on the Bolex.
❤
thank you! i'd hug you if i can
Haha! You’re welcome. You can just leave a like that counts as a hug in the world of TH-cam (I think)
nicely done cinematic shots...are you using mattebox and glass filters? I'm new in filmmaking and had overexposed test films using Bolex EL super 16mm
No matte box. Only an 85B filter when shooting 500T in daylight.
beautiful, what was your exposure measurement?
130 degrees ?
Thanks - I don’t understand the question. Are you asking about the shutter speed I used to meter? With the Bolex at 24fps I meter at 1/80 shutter - this number doubles at 48fps and again at 64fps
@@RyanNavazio Hello, thank you very much for your reply,
Of course my question was a bit confusing, sorry for that.
It was clear to me with your answer, wonderful stuff again!.
I was a bit confused with the information that some bolex have a shutter angle of 133 degrees.
And I didn't know whether to enter that information into the sekonic cine meter (which you can change the shutter angles) and work with that metering or with 1/80 shutter speed on other photometers.
I was a bit lost with this but I am finding the information. Thanks for your help.
@@citioalvano problem! So yes I metered as if the camera had a 133 degree shutter.
How did you record sound ?
Using a video camera with a shotgun mic. iPhone or from sound libraries.
I'd rather be in Iceland
