I also find it with the fully plastic ones. I always buy the glass 3ml or 10ml vials with the plastic sprayer, rather than the ones that are made entirely of plastic
YES - it was driving me nuts and I couldn’t figure out why?! Someone posted about it on a Facebook group about this and several people also commented. Theory is it’s the plastic and/or the glass from China.
😂 That's a great idea, I thought I was the only one who keeps mixing fragrances in 10 ml glass decants. You had fun and also showed us that perfumes are fun! ❤
Really fun! Sometimes when I come home from a visit in a great perfume shop, I find myself smelling so darn good and it is a mixture of everything I have tried on skin. So it makes sense to experiment. And especially with perfumes I might consider giving up on anyway. They might work with others.
I always buy glass decants. You can try and leave the caps off on the ones that are fishy and see if it clears up a bit. Put one in a glass bowl and sit it outside in the shade for a few hours and see what happens.
Hi Kicki, I have never thought to mix the decants but I do spray several over each other if I am tired of a decant and it's nearly gone. I don't think I ever noticed the "fish" problem until you mentioned it but I do know what you are talking about as I have smelled this. I get more of a sort of ammonia smell and maybe some smell like cooked fish, never raw though to my nose. I normally never smelled the top of spray nozzles, decant or bottle, but after watching youtubers do It, I do it more. I get a much better scent experience spraying but it does work as a reminder of what the perfume smells like. As you say, it doesn't seem to effect the wear but I have always been told decants do not last so wear them up, yet I have many that seem fine after years so I think it all depends of how much is left and how well it is sealed. Plastic decant bottle evaporate super fast so I never buy those myself. I like your mixing idea so will give that a try sometime.
@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 Not so much for me either, but the plastic spray tops can be dodgy, so in the case of say, Diaghilev, I have those valuable decants wrapped up in plumber tape just in case.
Haha, maybe. But for some reason I don't really want to become a perfumer, just learn more and understand what I am smelling and learning to appreciate more notes.
Really! Not me. I have all my decants standing upwards. Sometimes the fishy smell is there when the decant arrives in my mailbox, other times it comes with time.
My friend made the suggestion to me as it resolved it for her, so I bought a little storage set that allows the decants to stay upright and I’ve not experienced it again. It has to be the plastic reacting, awful smell.
I also noticed this, mostly with the plastic decant bottles, from now on I don’t buy plastic decants,or use plastic bottles to decant.
I also find it with the fully plastic ones. I always buy the glass 3ml or 10ml vials with the plastic sprayer, rather than the ones that are made entirely of plastic
I always get glass but the tops are plastic. Next time I order, I will look into getting a better kind.

Thank you for commenting. Will try to research this before my next decant order.

I buy glass decans, but the tops are plastic. Will try leaving the caps off and the outdoor thing as well. Thank you!

I don’t find that the glass decants evaporate. I have had some of mine for several years. Good luck mixing 😊

Perfume mixology 😀maybe becoming a perfumer is in the cards?
Haha, maybe. But for some reason I don't really want to become a perfumer, just learn more and understand what I am smelling and learning to appreciate more notes.
I’ve been able to avoid it by storing them standing upwards.

Hmm never had the happen but Tfs
ooh this fishy smell is SOOOOOO annoying 😫 !
Yes!
There is a red mandarin perfumery material that has a fishy tone to it, that may be the material that causes this tone in some of these fragrances
I never heard that, thank you for commenting. Will pay attention to this.
