Schwerer ;) I love this so much: "schwer" means "heavy" in German, so if we build something heavier how should we call this? Simple, "HEAVIER", "Schwerer".
Personally if i were ever to become rich in the future i want a train to be a part of my collection of toys but until then i will settle on having both wooden and Lego trains
He was just an Austrian painter with his own train. They were all just working in their art in there, no harm no foul. I’m not sure what all the negativity is about?
My family's home is located at a town at the outskirts of Berlin, and my grandfather who already had grown up there told me that one day all students of his school were ordered to gather at the railway to salute Hitler who would pass by with his train. Nowadays I'm living right in Berlin, only a stone throw of distance from former Tempelhof airport which got internationally known for the Berlin Airlift of 1948/49 as well as Hitler's train's depot location.
He was also a bit of a hippocrite as he liked his cakes and sweets. An obsession with health was one of the tenets of the ideology as it meant the state, the be-all and end- all of national socialism, would have strong citizens and soldiers. Backfired spectacularly in that most of the inductees into the military had flat feet and other issues from over-exercising.
I've seen lots of vids and some documentaries not shoe the real German flag, they'll just show the German cross, like games do now days to not offend anyone
Why does this channel now keep reposting old videos. It’s so annoying to click on something thinking it’s a new upload just for it to be a video from a year ago.
Eh, most of their content is still new uploads, and these compilation videos are good to watch if you want something to binge. Keep in mind TH-cam punishes channels in algorithm preference if they don't upload regularly, and the Simple History animations are generally better quality than they have been in the past. I feel like even if it is regurgitated content, it's at least something that's useful to the audience.
Honestly, I find it comically fitting to call all these “hitler’s toys” as all of these creations had little practical use in war and were practically “toys”
One thing I'd like to point out, Poles are very sensitive against using term "Polish concentration camp [prisoners]", because it leads many to believe that Poles set up those camps. What you meant was "Polish prisoners of [German] concentration camps". The sensitivity has something to do with 40% of total Polish population being claimed by the war...
they made a similar gun like this but it was made before the schwerer gustav was made. it was called the Paris Gun and it was a smaller version of the Gustav but it did the same. thing as the gustav
Now on afterthought, the hooked cross (swastika) looks ridiculous. The eagle as the primary one (not just war and parliamentary emblem) would've looked tad bit more nice.
I do wonder how much an impact the Schwerer Gustav would have made if it made it up to Leningrad and Stalingrad. Would it have turned the tide, or would it have been turned into scrap itself?
It would be interesting to have replicas of Hitler's homes and personal train for historical purposes. The money from tourist attractions like this could be given to fund people and society. I bet alot of tourists would be interested in such history.
I wonder if Hitler ever traveled on a train that contained Untermensch or POWs. As a safety concern and Hitler always trying to keep himself air gapped from the concentration camps unlucky but I suppose it's possible.
