    I always carry a Viair portable compressor instead of on board air so I can help others when maybe my Jeep can't get close enough to someone that needs it. It has come in handy helping others many times. This is still way cooler than my practical setup. FYI, I liked first and viewed first. I love that feeling.

    This is one of the best modifications you have done. What an awesome set up! The way I see it is fixes two problems for me. First no worries about airing up anywhere or going anywhere else to use air tools. Second, this would seriously deter me from my usual tendency to dunk my JL into mud pits. Thank you for sharing, sign me up. 👍🏼

      Eddie and Cindy could easily have went balls out with their build...with like Top Secret Dynatrac axles that aren't even available to the public yet, King Coilovers & 5 tube bypasses, triangulated suspension...the whole 9 yards but that's not the approach they're taking. They wanted to showcase how you don't need to spend 100k on a build for it to perform at a high level.

    A couple things: They stressed this is pre-production and they want to see if it works. They will be able to figure out if the heat is too much for the compressors pretty quickly given how much they wheel. Space in a jeep is at a premium so being able to use dead space under the jeep is a pretty big deal. The Power tank takes up a good amount of space inside the jeep. Cost of a dual 444c Viair and 2.5gal compressor kit from 4wheelparts is $689 and Air command kit is $389. I'm guessing the mounting plate is about $200 so figure about $1300 for this setup. Powertank is about $750 for complete jeep kit. Given how often they wheel and in remote areas, an onboard system makes sense. If you go out once a month and have a local place to fill up on CO2 and have the space, its hard to beat the Powertank. Personally I went with a powertank given my needs, but if I wheeled like them, I would look for a tank and compressor system. If this ends up being durable enough it will be a great capability for JL owners.

    You may find the plastic to plastic quick disconnect leaking over time. Recommend brass quick disconnects. I use the rubber tips for walkers to cover my quick connect fittings. The rubber tips do wear out. They are also very cheap and easily available at drug stores and Walmart. I only plummed one line forward and one line aft. Makes it easy to power someone's Arb if necessary or my tow rig air powered exhaust brake. Also recommend upgraded relays for the compressors. Be sure to carry a spare pressure regulator. They typically are rated for how many times they open/close.

    ha! we love you too! i fabbed the one for the JK to get in a single Viair constant duty on board system(minus that brain) but i used big rig brake line. the tubing works great but it gets tiresome repairing it. i have been exploring another location to double her up another compressor, this set up is sweet. the room in a 2 door is very limited. i have the portable Viair in the JL which is fine for the 33's. they make a great product, we have experienced zero issues. lol that brain makes my manifold look like its a homemade ancient pos that belongs in a museum. but that sh*t still works both lockers and a bumper chuck. i did have to move the pressure sensor relay around to find a sweet spot, it doesnt like heat or water.

    Ok have you ever pulled up beside a tractor-trailer and heard the air bleed off of the compressor from the air tank? If you have then that is a valve that once it builds up to a certain pressure it will blow off a Blow by Valve. They also have drain lines or valves that won't bleed off any condensation that is made from the compressor as you know compressed air creates moisture and you have to bleed the moisture out of the tank if you don't they will Rust and cause contaminants to enter the line there for messing up your system so don't forget to install a bleed off valve on the bottom of the tank so you can bleed the condensation out you don't want condensation to freeze in your pump tank lines or your Schrader valves on your tires just a thought y'all have a great day

    I have arb dual compressors mounted on side of the rear cargo, I added 1.5 gallon air tanks to run air tools. I like this better it’s inside the Jeep and doesn’t take up hardly no room also the open areas of the air holder will fill up with debris. The problem is Kevin, you are in the same boat I am in, with all the mods on both of ours the REAL issue us the weight, we are literally driving a M1A1 Abrams battle tank down the road and trails. The more mods the more weight, and weight is not only bad mpgs but terrible off roading. We are at the point a stock Rubi with descent 3.5” lift and tires with no more mods will have a big advantage off roading and mpgs that we gave up with winch, bumpers front and rear, belly skids, gear, compressor, rock rails, etc. the last goes on and on.

    • @markdarnell2792
      @markdarnell2792 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kevin Williams I agree, I will see y’all at Windrock, just saying not just yours but mine to, that weight is becoming a limiting factor, in off roading the lighter rigs are better. We used to see the little Suzuki Samari with 10” of lift, unstoppable because they didn’t weigh much at all. I am now thinking about ways to lighten up my Jeep some, even your Buddy Michael was talking about weight. Y’all are fortunate to have companies comp y’all stuff but eventually you’ll have to draw a line because of weight issues.

      MrMrsregor True on the cost but the first time cost on this would be BIG. And not having enough CO2 for is a good “what if” which go for both units. If just heard so much on “duty cycle” on the compressors and burning them up. Seems most I’ve seen with them for a while end up with CO2. But, good discussion and I appreciate it buddy👍🤠

      @piledriveroffroad3743 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a ARB dual compressor actuating my lockers and used to air up with but now have a Power Tank handling that task. Co2 is a God send imo. The only thing that might be of any inconvenience is if you don't have a place to get it refilled in your vicinity, which fortunately I do but it being a "Pain In the Ass"? I'd love to hear u elaborate. I pay $7 to fill it which is good to air up 6-7x so unless you wheel for a living and don't live in the real world and not have to work then I can see how that might add up. I don't see how airing other people up would factor into your decision of what system to purchase. If someone's wheeling and they have no means of airing themselves up then they have no business airing down.

    I know it's a prototype, but if he is concerned about heat and the pumps, why doesn't he switch the location of the tank and dual pumps? Have the tank next to the heat shield and the dual pumps insulated by the heat shield and tank. Really awesome system!

    Cool concept, but I don't think that would last long in areas where road salt is used in the winter?

    Instead of a QD at each wheel why not save some material and time and just put one on each side in between each wheel and you can hit both off of one air line. Less material less clutter and less time and if there’s a leak less stuff to check also? Just a thought! Keep the awesome vids coming!!!!!

    That is an awesome setup. I really hope they make that. Is there any word if they are going to make a similar setup for the JK?

    Cool setup..... but got a question? Did Metal Cloak refresh your skid plates again? Looks great!

    TJ Rubicons have their air compressors for the lockers on the skid plate. Too bad they don't make enough pressure to inflate the tires.

    You two are doing a great job promoting the products you are installing and testing. I will be spending a serious amount at Metal Cloak...largely based on your feedback, install and testing. What can I do to get you a kickback and is MC willing to provide any discount codes to those buying who are coming from you channel? Thanks and keep up the great work.

      Michael Martin their Jeep is pushing 70,000 to 75,000 if they did not get bargains on the gear they are promoting.

    Nice setup. I have went with CO2. And have a portable backup. We need people with this kind of innovation. Perfect example what made America Great. #small business #Capitalism. KOH is getting closer.

      Same here, CO2 primary w/portable backup. It's hard to beat a CO2 tank that'll air up a tire in 20 seconds. I air up mine and my girlfriend's Jeep every time and only refill the tank 2-3 times a year.
