Your friend didn’t paint the bare metal before he installed the nutcerts! That’s a No No. A year from now that will be a step he missed you will regret. Little hint for you. Paint the holes and put some marine sealer / adhesive on the nutsert before you install them. When you set the nutsert it will seal it and bond it in place so you reduce the risk of rust and spinning the nutsert in the future. Also a little sealer behind the panels will keep you from collecting dirt and water and paint the screws!
It really doesn’t matter.. it doesn’t fit right enough to seal it and we don’t have road salt in Colorado and likely won’t keep the Jeep long enough to care.
Michael Shelswell ya... another No No! I’m going to do a crappy screwed up job because I may not keep something? This is why I do all my own work. To keep the HACKS away!
Rich Lynch you’re right I’ll remove it and drill out the nutserts and sand prime and seal then reinstall new nitserts, I’ll even make a rubber gasket to fill the gaps and keep the dust and dirt out.
Thank you so much for keeping it simple and not having an annoying 30 second intro with annoying music like every other wanna be JEEP youtuber, your content is original and to the point 👍🏻👍🏻 keep the videos coming!
When we all go wheeling together coming up this year, please insert the word "nutsert" into every conversation. This video was freaking awesome due to the amount of times you said Nutsert LOL
You guys are truly nuts, but so enjoyable to watch. Watching ya'll putting your jeep through some serious torture is what Jeeps are made for. Thanks for making the vids guys keep it up!
Love you guys.!,! Your cannel is awesome. BTW, I showed my son your "do as I say, not as I do" snow wheeling video, and his response was those are the tires I need for snow confidence. Thank you.!,!. We live in Medford, OR.....think Tucker Snow Cat, ;-) I am pitching the Milestar Patagonia to him this very morning (well actually yesterday morning to be correct now) to be the tires he uses to replace his current tires. Thank you again for your work. Thank you for making sure your ueres know about "knut zirk tools" amazon style. You will not regret. Kevin, Center Punch YES.!!!!! Preach it brother. You all do well.......keep it up.
Great video of install. Awesome help from Michael. Kevin being Kevin 😀. Brittany always good seeing you get in there and dirty with the installs. To bad Jelly didn't come out. Can't wait to see the video with what Kevin was working on (top secret for now). You 2 are awesome. Safe travels
Thanks for the product install review, I have reached out to Rusty's to find out if this fits the JK as well. One thing I would recommend anytime you install a part with nutserts. They leave a small gap between the parts which is good as no moisture can build up and start corrosion but you pack a bunch of mud or dirt in there and now it's a moisture trap. So prior to final install coat the body with a heavy application of paste wax and don't buff it off, then periodically remove those parts and clean out the crap and re wax. I also spray a good penetrating / lubricant into the nutserts and the cavities behind to fend of corrosion internally, a little on the threads also helps prevent the screws from seizing in the insert. If you ever get one that spins in the drilled hole they are a bugger to remove.
That looks so freaking clean! Nice job! And the protection! Holy Moly that is sick! I'm still waiting on my Gladiator or " Gladheateher" to come out. Lol!! Keep the videos coming and love you!
looks like a good product! When you remove the armor, place a bead of silicone sealant about 1/4 of the way down. Set the armor into the sealant to prevent water from traveling down between the armor and the jeep where it can pool at he 90 degree bend at the bottom.
Hey! Congrats on several items from this one! Michael traveling with you all, new install looks good, and it reinforced the exposed areas! Smash those things up now! I don't get the "Hey you should have painted" crap. Do they not watch your FN Channel and see what you do! LOL I know that if you knew to Tape and Punch, you knew to paint. They're talking about pinholes on a rig that already has more damage to the areas that are now protected, than those holes will cause in many years. Good luck, travel safe, off road hard and see you at KOH!
Look really nice and seems a sturdy thick plate, with an easy install even if you're on your own; all great to me and... i haven't seen so many double meanings since the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
Looks nice. Might I suggest painting all exposed hardware the same red? Great contrast to the black armor. Also, I have the same nutcert tool. Used on my rockers, fenders and molle panel for the tailgate. Works great. Another tip: use black adhesive on the nutcerts, protects the exposed paint and anti-sieze on the bolts. SS tends to gall, making a lot of unpleasantness.
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 i have ran that trail more times tham i can remember since when is it illegal to cross the river, try going up the widow maker its fun and a good adrenalin rush.
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 lol that sucks man. Try independence and liberty trail in Penrose is more crawling and it should be a challenging trail for your rig
You should paint your holes with Steel-it after drilling to prevent rust because moisture will get to the holes. And since it is covered up the paint won’t be an eye sore as long as you tape off what you don’t want to get paint on.
Could you guys PLEASE, PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE get a LITE BRITE FB (or GAB, Minds your choice) page going....I'm sure many of us would love to share pics of our rigs with you and other jeepole...You're always sharing yours and we get jealous...lol You guys are AWESOME!!!!
You should have repaired the damage before installing or at the very least repaired the area with paint damage. This will all rust underneath that new hardware.
I like those quarter panel protectors a lot. If I had a JL I'd be ordering them now. As it is I will just be ordering the nutsert tool. I could use that on my inner fender flares. There are a few areas where getting a nut on the back is difficult. Edit: Just noticed Rusty's also sells a JK kit. I'll look at my setup and see if I think I need it.
Regarding your new windshield: Some of the paint protection film (PPF) companies, such as Expel, make film that can be installed on windshields. You can see an example on a Jay Leno’s garage episode from when he got his McLaren P1 several years ago.
Nice Video but those nuts need to be black to match and what steps would you need to take to keep any further damage or rest to occur behind the Rusty's Fascia is the black paint you put there enough?
I think you mean bolts? Some people actually prefer the raw look. I purposely left all of the grade 8 bolts on mine the yellow zinc color because I like the contrast. I even went as far as to swap some of the other bolts (like my diff covers) to grade 8 for the congruent coloring.
Wes Nah, You’d definitely want to take more precautions than us to prevent against rust and whatnot. Haha I’d be shocked if ours rusted before we rolled it. 😅😅
