Thanks for the video; it convinced me that I will install an eliminator on a '17 SS I've ordered. I easily installed one on my '13 and it worked flawlessly. Except for the $15-20, and the short amount of time involved to jack up and install, there are no downsides.
Well done! I know this is a big deal for a lot of people with manual. As pointed out keeping it under 15mph as you go into 2nd seems like a great way to look at it. Great vid! That's why I'm subscribed!
Nice vid! For me, when I'm driving city and not hard accelerating shifting from 1st - 4th doesn't bother me. The car pulls hard in every gear. But the skip shift only kicks in when you're not trying to pull hard anyway so for me it doesn't matter so much. You can also shift from 1st to 3rd which will give you great pull and avoid the 1st to 4th shift.
Yea but when your talking to somebody like your girlfriend or someone in your car and your going stoplight to stoplight it will catch you now and then. I'm placing my order for the eliminator tomorrow. It's such a buzz kill.
overdrive in my '85 chevy astro with a bored out 305 is so bad, no speedo so its alot harder to say what speeds or when its shifting but it shifts to fourth (highest gear) cruising around 40mph so I drive in regular drive which has 1-3 and it does burnouts at every light , only reason they have the skip shifter being a thing besides getting better economy with relative road speed is having a longer, more gradual torque curve for those that arent flooring it shifting down. really doesnt make sense since they could have just made it into a four speed w/od using longer gears to get the same gas mileage shifting at 3.5k compared to 2.5k'ish rpm, get about an extra 600rpm to play with through that tq curve :D too bad I dont have more vehicles
Thanks for this video! Do these cars have hill start assist? I am looking at a 2019 2ss 1LE with the manual. I haven’t drove manual much but I’m pretty good at it. I’m just a little worried since this car is around 2.5 hours from me. At least I’ve heard these are one of the easiest manuals to drive. I’ve drove a civic and a Jeep with a manual before
Did you end up getting it? In my personal experience, I found the 5th gen (10-15) Camaro SS to be the most aggressive in terms of manual driving experience.
@@isnowyazn Yep! But not the exact car that I commented on here. I purchased a 2018 Nightfall Gray Metallic SS 1LE. I absolutely love it. I've put 12,000 miles on it so far, which completely ruined the rear GY Supercar 3s. Around 900 to get them replaced with an alignment which is a huge downfall of this car, but they grip very well except in rain.
I know this is an old video but I just got an '18 SS and when I shift into 2nd gear, if I don't release the clutch slowly the car jolts when the clutch catches. Does this happen to you?
So how you solve that is you need to be faster, as soon as you shift into second lift your foot completely off the clutch, forget the friction point just fully release it
10 speed ZL1 FTW. Manuals are going the way of the Do-do. Especially pulling forced crap like this because of (fill in stupid ass reason here). I paid for the car now let me use the damn thing proper.

+Fred Orlando nice

Alpha Camaro I appreciate the compliment!

Taj Mahal definitely! thanks for watching
I buy a manual car because I don't anyone telling which gear I should be in. If I ever get this car, the eliminator would be first mod.
High Rev nice
Anyone who buys a car like this doesn’t give a shit about fuel economy such a disappointment they do this

JAMES HAWK I completely agree!
I just put my skip shift eliminator in my 2013 challenger rt with a 6 speed it's so much better now going from 1st to 2nd not 1st to 4th
if your not driving crazy just put it in snow mode. that turns it off
But its sloppy if you go over 2000 to find 2nd is like crap
With that engine and low end torque, you can even start at second gear I believe

benson420710 wow, those are some long gears!
My '16 shifts at lower RPMs than suggested here, I have to go above 2500 RPM to avoid it.
Steve M that's interesting. Mine triggers at 15mph or 1.9-2k rpm
❤️🇺🇸 It won’t let you shift to second that alert comes on that’s really fucked up you should be able to put it in whatever gear you want to

I just start in 2nd gear and it doesn't do it..
I caught what u did twice!
All you have to do is attempt to hit 2nd again/twice when it trys to force the 4th gear.
+matrox that can get annoying
Skip shift is only on the v8 Camaro right?
rigo tejeda yes
Great video man thanks
Carlos Berrios thanks for watching!
I have 2 drive this car, with a manual transmission!
I know this is an old video but I just got an '18 SS and when I shift into 2nd gear, if I don't release the clutch slowly the car jolts when the clutch catches. Does this happen to you?
Yeah learn to drive it😭😭😭
@@rippinrheaume242 LMFAOO😂🤣

does the 16/17 camaro ss have hill assist with the 6 speed?
Andrew Rasco yes it definitely does
Camaro SS Fanatic so when I'm on a hill and I have my foot on the gas and clutch, it will not roll back?
Andrew Rasco it will only hold the break for about 2 seconds... It's enough time to assist you with getting into gear. Don't rely on it too much
+Andrew Rasco it holds it for about 2 seconds
Thanks!
Andre Cali you're welcome!
After 2100 miles you told me how to avoid this crap..ive been trying everthing
Anyone know where to buy a good eliminator?
American muscle website
Happens on my automatic
I have the A8 but in the Gen5 I had the M6. I like how you planned the shifts. Cool video. Check out my Channel sometime. I sub'd yours. Take care !
+MojaveKY That's awesome and thanks for watching again. Yes, I subscribed to your channel a few weeks ago... Great content!
can you not just ignore it? its not like it forces you to shift it. I dont get the commotion?
NIVO1972 you can't
It gates off second gear forcing you to select another gear. You can force it in there, but can permanently damage the transmission.
third does 92.1mph so its not slow for a van.. ;)
benson420710 very true
that's so stupid. i thought my transmission was broken
Under 2000 rpm thats it...sucks

8:45 of talk without rest !!!!
While driving a stick shift AND holding his camera to film. LOL
Haha thanks
Dumb video. Its jus an indicator light nothing more. Just ignore it
The Notorious Joe WHIPS! It's more than that
It prevents you from going to 2nd or 3rd gear
