    When I first got in to cycling after some running related injuries, I bought a Boardman SLR with SRAM double tap and apart from being quite a heavy bike, I never had a problem with it. I've upgraded my collection of bikes but, my Boardman is still there if only on my turbo trainer.

    I've seen most of your videos and I love your attention to detail,my favourite is the alignment of the tire logos with the valves I personally have a similar habit of aligning the valves with the tire inflation instructions so I can see directly the PSI limit on each tire.I do that because l have quite a big collection of vintage bikes with different tire sizes

    Been binge watch your videos since I came across the channel and have absolutely enjoyed them! Love your attention to detail. If I may make a suggestion? When the video is sped up, the screen becomes rather jittery and somewhat hard to follow for my old eyes. If possible, perhaps run the video through image stabilisation after it's been sped up? Just a suggestion to maybe improve the quality of your videos. Cheers!

    I’d love my bike to get this much attention when serviced. I’ve had it serviced before at 5 different places. And none of them have really met the standard.
    Even had the disc break, pivot screw come undone after a ride after a service, and me nearly crashing… and when taking back they said it comes undone due to vibration…. I said “I paid for a gold service and all parts were supposed to be stripped and cleaned… you either never cleaned it and checked screw torque … or you didn’t screw it on back properly”

    We most of the time put heatshrink over the cables to keep them together and protect the from rubbing.

    • @Bikespeeds
      @Bikespeeds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I heat shrink Di2 but wouldn’t for gear and brake cables because they will hold the steering and reduce the freedom of movement.

    • @basvanleeuwen4502
      @basvanleeuwen4502 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Bikespeeds we do not put the whole cable in heat shrink, but mostly two pieces of about 3 cm each. But we do a lot of e-bikes which have 6 or 7 cables in the front. And without something to hold them together they rattle a lot and it just looks messy.

    • @Bikespeeds
      @Bikespeeds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d use spiral cable wrap because it doesn’t pull the cables completely tight like heat shrink & gives them the freedom to move and slide with steering left and right.

  • @andreadeboni2591
    @andreadeboni2591 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Once again, great video! I have 2 questions:
    - do you leave the shifting cables a little bit longer at the end in order to remove the 2 derailleurs in a second moment? How long do you leave the end?
    - when you check the chain, do you only measure one link or do you take more poin? If only one measurement is "loose", do you need to replace the chain already?
    Thx and greetings

    • @Bikespeeds
      @Bikespeeds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do tend to leave the rear derailleur with a bit of a tail, which helps for future removal, but most of the ones I fit the cable end will clear the threaded hole in the thumb adjuster if I unwind it.
      My chain checker measures over 5 inches and if at any point around the chain it shows wear I advice accordingly.

    I'd be interested to know what you think the benefits are of waxing a chain. I used a wax lubricant a few years ago and hated it. It needed re-applying every 50 to 100 miles, and was then an absolute pain to clean off when swapping back to my normal lubricant.

    • @Bikespeeds
      @Bikespeeds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you use moulten wax or a rub on wax?

    • @MikeAG333
      @MikeAG333 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neither. I used a liquid wax lubricant, sold as a winter lubricant. It must be wax dissolved in a solvent.

    • @Bikespeeds
      @Bikespeeds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What we use is heated until it’s like water it literally pours into the chain rollers and as it cools for a a coating from the inside. It last a lot longer than 50-100 and is easy to clean off using boiling water. It’s way, way easier to deal with than an oil.
