So we are just back from the P&O Ventura after a 4 night trip billed as a Royal Jubilee Cruise to Amsterdam...and what can i say? Well P&O please stop patting yourselves on the back as this cruise was abysmal. Where can I start? Well lets start with the non-existent sail away, which pretty much summed up the rest of the entertainment...If you are expecting the traditional sail away party you will be sorely disappointed. There was also no welcome on boarding with the atrium completely quiet, no pianist, no harpist not even a solitary singer...so what you may ask i'm sure there was plenty to do in the evening...wrong!!! We pre booked a 645pm show in the theatre before we left and guess what? It didn't exist...as didn't the comedian we booked for later in the day...there was still the ongoing 'Astonishing' show which is on every cruise with p&o for the last 4 years...please its time for an update...and what has happened to the comedians, the guest tribute bands, there were none...only a smattering of solo singers and the P&O house brand band 'Pulse'...this version were not as good as previous versions and relied heavily on over the top reverb to carry their songs...on deck 15 around the pools there was a huge gap in the seating arrangements with many seats missing so you couldn't sit anywhere. The entertainment staff with the exception of the Irish Host Leanne who had a great personality were lacking in any personality or the basic ability to read...the entertainments manager was.....well no where to be seen...there was no art auction...the best of the entertainment was again the very lively karaoke which was enjoyed by all who were there and the MEGA bingo which was well attended, but in all honesty there was so little to do...even the casino was closed for 2 of the 4 nights as the boat was in dock in Amsterdam until Midnight...If you were a solo traveller i didnt see anything aimed at you until the final day when a get together was on the entertainment schedule...a bit late by then you would probably have died of boredom and loneliness...also i saw nothing aimed at the LGBTQ+ community. The standard of the food was so poor with little choice and yes now you can serve yourself again in the buffet but you cant swap answer papers in the quiz....the receptionist agreed with me she said that things were getting worse and worse since January and no sail aways were evident since then...and then finally as i mentioned at the top this was a Royal Jubilee Cruise and P&O sent emails out prior to the cruise telling us to expect an amazing experience with a giant Jubilee cake (didnt see that one i wonder where it went), Jubille wine (£36 a bottle no thanks) and Royal themed entertainment (well there was a 20 question Royal Quiz)...but shame on P&O there was not 1 piece of bunting, not 1 union jack flag, nothing...oh except a tv broadcast on the big screen in 2 venues simultaneously...this was also used to cover the Scotland vs Ukraine football match and thus cancelled the other planned entertainment in the venue...I could have stayed at home and watched that and partied in the street with my friends and neighbours...to anybody wanting a cruise with P&O and planning their trip i would think carefully as cruising with them is not what it used to be...(we had wonderful trips with them in the past and they were my cruise of choice)...if you are returning to cruising its not the same in fact its a far away place from where it was...these things have nothing to do with the Pandemic in fact our 2 cruises last year after lockdown around Britain on the Britannia, which although with many poor points, were still a great deal better than this current impersonation of a cruise...P&O need to invest in entertainment, in food quality, and in great customer service (their head office never bothered to answer my email comments and you cant get thru to them on the telephone)...This video really doesnt give the true picture of what it is like to cruise...it may reflect the more halcyon days of cruises past but in all honesty todays version is more like a holiday camp at sea but without the level of entertainment that you might expect to see even there. The P&O board and their hierarchy at Carnival really need to address this situation before they are left with empty boats or worse going out of business. So what were the positives? It was nice to be away...we were left a free bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates in our room...we were given a £30 spa voucher each...and the serving staff were as always extremely polite and friendly...but that does not make a cruise...please give the people back their old P&O before its too late...it will be a long time before I travel with them again. These are purely my own insights and other people may have had the WOW factor but most seasoned travellers we spoke to made the same remarks and although many said it was ok there seemed an underlying dissatisfaction...Again I stress it took 3 days until a 'PARTY BROKE OUT' at the karaoke and this was the only time i saw adults really enjoying themselves...
Hi Andrew. Sad that had such a bad time. We loved it onboard but everyone has different experiences, maybe address these to p&o and see what response you get, thanks for watching, maybe check out some of our other videos to see if any other ship takes your fancy. Tom
@@cruisingwiththe4bs P&O customer services is useless...as i said...im not disgruntled or in any way trying to make a point for gain or anything like that...im just expressing my opinion on what i have witnessed and yes i said others may have had a different view...i have cruised with other brands and tbh they are mostly all alike with of course differences in size, grandeur and expectation but the basic experience remains the same...i have cruised on the Ventura previously and have been WOWED and yes she is tired but beyond that the experience is the thing and it was abundantly evident that there was zilch investment in the customer experience...did you have a sail away on your cruise?
@@andrewmitchell2961 no there was no sailaway party as such but everyone was on deck with a drink in hand and some music was playing, however this was in December and all covid precautions were in place.
We had a sailaway party onboard MSc. I have to say shorter cruises I don’t feel paint a true picture as it takes a few days to get settled and in the swing shorter cruises everything feels rushed and like a money maker but that’s just my opinion. Sorry you had such a bad experience 🙂
@@cruisingwiththe4bs just checked the internet and yes indeed the Britannia has a full sail away party so i guess its just apathy from the Ventura...its no right or what people expect
Citizens of the UK, Boycott P&O . What they did to 800 workers is absolutely disgraceful.
Hi Nicky. P&O cruises and P&O ferries are completely different companies. We don’t work for either. Thanks
different company, check your facts!
P&O ferry's is a completely different company to P&O cruise's.... because P&O cruise's is owned by Carnival....Look it up
I have to say the tour was informative, BUT what a thoroughly boring delivery! My dear old thing, do try and inject some enthusiasm into your delivery. I almost fell asleep twice.
Hey fight lads. Thanks for your comment and glad you found it informative. I am so glad that I could be of assistance with you sleep. I have another ship tour out this weekend, so make sure take a look before bed time!
@@cruisingwiththe4bs Sorry if I sounded awful. I actually own a small travel company and know the importance of getting something across well. As I said, your tour was informative and interesting. If you were able to pop some extra enthusiasm into the commentary you'd have a decent product there.
@@Fightladsnet thank you for the feedback, it’s all trial and error, we will be uploading a tour of valiant lady next week so all constructive feedback is welcomed 🙂
@@cruisingwiththe4bs Cheers
Nice way to treat staff, hope nobody uses you again.
