Taking this film too seriously, it's a fun franchise. Not Everything has to make since and follow every law of physics.
No no, Lewton told the other guy to get on the plane because he's French himself and quote "knew the whole French thing". Not because he was the only other teacher there.
The Robot Chicken sketch of this movie is pretty funny (to me, at least). Replacing horror movie teens with Archie Comic characters is great.
Since When Is A Horror Movie Supposed To Make 100% Sense?
This was the only good film in the series. Alex's behavior is realistic to me, mainly because he is a 17-year-old just thrust into this mess out of the blue. As for the "leaving evidence" thing, he was trying to help his teacher out while he could and besides, the explosion wiped away said evidence.
I hate how much Claire was designed to be a side character meant to support story points. She had enough backstory and personality to carry her own side storyline and she was just set up to enhance Alex’s story.
The items flying forward instead backwards, the glass breaking from the Explosion, and the plane not nosediving and just spontaneously exploding..its call dramatic effect. Yes it isn't scientifically accurate but it makes the scenes look cooler.
Why does everyone get this stuff wrong ? The Grim Reaper isn't killing people he's just there to collect the spirit after the passing.
Ya definitely not the right audience for this movie.
Also, about the X Files reference, the guy who plays Alex's dad, also plays Robert Modell in the X Files episodes, Pusher, and Kitsunegari.
I think one of the reasons Death was so Rube Goldberg-esque (in the first film at least) was mainly to stimulate the conversations Scully and Mulder WOULD have had if this had been an X Files episode.
Originally Alex was going to die after saving Clear, she would have then gone on to have Alex's child and "New Life cancels Death Rule" she and Carter (Who somehow manages survives for nine months) are taken off Death's to do list. Test audience whined and they changed it to Alex get his head taken off by a helicopter blade...and then they whined again so we get this instead. Is it worth 2,000,000$?

When he was eating "angerly" as u put it in not so many words what he was actually doing is making sure he chewed the food sufficiently as not to choke (bc of the whole death coming after him thing)

I always figured Bloodworth was some kind of supernatural being. He knows FAR too much about Death's rules and such.
I completely agree with your conclusion. The sequels turned the series into a live-action version of Happy Tree Friends with killings so OTT it's become impossible to take them seriously. We're no longer supposed to care for the characters, but sit and hope gleefully for their demise.
Death: I can assure you that everything is done professionally instead of for fun.
