My grandfather was one of the military personnel that was on the scene and patrolled the area during the riot. It’s nice to hear that these two stories from both sides really match.

I will never forget this incident forever. The day May13 1969 it happen at around 6-7 pm in Kg baru where i was staying. A group of 50-60 malays with parang came to attack our house which consist of around 30 people in that big house own by my grandmother. They tried to enter our house with fury and great force but did not succeed. All of a sudden the chinese staying around the area came out to fight with the malays. After some fighting occurs for around 10 minutes the malays ran off. By then the chinese suggest we go over to Tiong Nam which is a chinese populated area. While we were trying to cross the Chow Kit bridge then again another group of malays were trying to block our way but they were fend off again . So after coming down from the bridge on the way to the Tiong Nam settlement , suddenly a few trucks of soldiers were shooting at us instead of protecting us. For a while there I thought we all will be history but fortunately the soldier went off after a few round of shooting. Then after that we all stay in my uncle in- law house which is also a very big house.I am still alive and kicking untill today to tell all what really happen 50 years ago.

Absolutely unforgivable, how could people do such horrific things to innocent lives. Racism is such a dangerous weapon.

@jack in the box why are you so defensive. So do you really favor the Military action? They killed and raped fellow Malaysian citizens. What are you trying to say? Why do you keep on pinpointing at look who did it first? The Chinese provoked us so we have all the right to kill and rape them?

@@frankyong2607 the Malay government has a reverse affirmative action. They don’t believe that they can compete against the Indians and Chinese in school. Lift the affirmative action, Malays are smart enough in school.
