    Due to the recent government advice to reduce the spread of Coronavirus, some of our customers may prefer a shorter vehicle handover process when collecting their new or used car from us. Because of this, we have created a series of videos to cover some of the technology on our latest cars, which can be watched in the comfort of your own car!
    Hopefully you will find these videos helpful however if there are any features you feel haven’t been covered, please let us know and we will happily make a video to cover it!

    Ive seen dsg boxes on cars without the flappy padels the downside to them is that if your in auto mode you cant downshift. With padels if your in auto mode you can down or upshift with the padels.

    Please help me figure it out. VW DSG often happens that I want to accelerate and smoothly press the gas, but there is a delay of 1 second and the car accelerates not smoothly, but sharply. It’s as if she thinks for a while and then suddenly realizes that I want to speed up. I don’t bring the pedal to kickdown, it stays somewhere in the middle
    I found out about kickdown, it is very similar to this function. I have nothing to compare it with; on a manual, if I pressed the gas like that, the revs would immediately increase.
    The car itself accelerates normally, but if I need to press the pedal more confidently, I expect smooth but aggressive acceleration. But in the end, after thinking a little (perhaps lowering the gear), the car suddenly picks up speed, as if I had sharply pressed the gas pedal.

    Maybe a stupid question, but new to dsg. When you go in reverse can you go to drive without standstill? Or do you really need to stop?

    When I drive down steep hills I notice the revs go up massively which is embarrassing. I switched it into manual mode and when I push forward to go up a gear it quietens but if I go down a gear it revs aggressively. I don't understand because I see signs on steep declines saying to stay in low gear. Please help feel so thick

    • @glsapu
      @glsapu ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Lower gear then you would normally, not super low gear like 1 at 60mph. A lower gear will use motor to slow down, so you’re not burning the brakes.

    • @timeformetoact6
      @timeformetoact6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should only downshift when brake is applied to assist in slowing the vehicle down. Also depends on the model DSG, (DQ250 - 6speed vs DQ381 - 7speed). 6 speed uses engine speed to determine shift points while the 7 speed uses vehicle speed.

      The engine gearbox is engaging lower gear downhill to prevent the car picking up too much speed so you don't constantly brake.

      If you dont press the trigger then you can change gears. It’s there as a saftey mechanism incase you accidentally move/hit the shifter and move it unintentionally.

    Saying dsg automatic is like saying manual automatic. DSG short for Direct Shift Gearbox aka Dual Clutch Gearbox is a gearbox of its own. Automatic is another gearbox. Auto uses a torque converter. DSG/DCT has two clutches with manual gearbox framework and mechanism. Two completely different gearboxes. When will people realize that.

      @@mi-bodyhealth dsg is dsg. Not auto. Why not? DSG uses two clutches, auto uses a single torque converter, not clutch, a torque converter. Although it shifts automatically it is not automatic. Because automatic uses torque converter and dsg/dct/pdk use two clutches just like the clutch in the manual transmission

    Don't buy a car with a DSG transmission!!! If they break, and they regularly do, it will cost a small fortune to get it repaired (3,5-6K)!

    • @portman8909

      @@timeformetoact6 then you are lucky, lots of them get cracks in the mechatronic unit. Oil pours out: game over...

    • @timeformetoact6
      @timeformetoact6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only issue I’ve had is leaking from the oil filter housing, since it’s made of plastic. All the oil leaked out but the transmission wasn’t damaged, just had to replace it and refill. There are defective mech units out there, but regular fluid changes are critical for good operation. DSG is far better than conventional automatics or CVT’s, but if you prefer to have something that will not mechanically fail, I would get a manual.
