- Come join Lucy and I on a 5 day solo canoe trip in Algonquin park that takes us on a tour around Cedar and Catfish lake as well as through a part of one of my favourite rivers, the Nipissing.
With some good thunder storms and high winds, it was challenging at times but we managed to get some good tips and tricks in along with our regularly scheduled portage show!

So good to see you back! I discovered your videos about six years ago, the same summer I started doing back country canoe trips in Algonquin Park. Although we've never met, and you're younger than me, you are my mentor. We also have rescue dogs, but I've never brought them camping. Because I sleep in a hammock I'm not sure what to do with them. Congratulations Lucy on finding a great home!
I'm in the same boat as you concerning the hammock. I also picked one up (Warbonnet Blackbird XLC). I quite like it but I'm trying to sort out how to bring a dog with me. I like to keep them out of the bugs at night so they always sleep in the tent with me. I may be able to work something out with Toby since he's a smaller dog (Jack Russell). Stay tuned and we'll see if I can sort it out :) Thanks for tuning in!

We actually posted an Algonquin Park trip video series last year in the same area, and we even stayed at the same campsite! Great area... it's so incredibly peaceful up in the North side of the park. The bugs had their moment a little later on in this trip but for the most part they weren't an issue. Stay tuned though, I went with my son earlier in the year with bug suits and a bug tent and I don't think we would have stayed without them. Had a great trip but it really shows just how bad bugs can get. I'll be editing and publishing that video as well. Thanks for watching!

Thank you sir. Funny you should mention that, that's why I released my first video. I had shot it to show friends and family what it's like out there but ended up releasing it in the middle of winter on youtube to chase away those winter blues. Worked out pretty well.

Lucy appears to be one mellow dog. Like the combo-fuel stove set-up -- perfect for such a trip. Glad it's you and not me, though, facing that 2.3K portage. Looking forward to the seeing the rest of the trip.
Thanks a lot. Yeah, I'm really digging this stove setup. It's nice that if you run out of fuel you don't have to build a full on fire to boil some water. Just fire up the hobo and you're good to go!
