Have not seen any useful content regarding the DD Pro range other than the infomercials from DD Hammocks so bought one as was curious to see if the added features justify the premium price tag.
In my honest unbiased opinion I would remove the Pro from the description and replace it with the word Plus. But that is just my opinion. What do you think ?
I have added a link to the DD Hammocks website so you can compare the specs on their products if it is of any use to you.

Honestly, it wouldn't even occur to me that the peg bag isn't MC, wouldnt bother me in the least. I'd be much happier with better quality pegs :D

I don’t get the crappy pegs, I recently bought an ultralight version of the 3 by 3, that came with really nice lightweight pegs, sort of like nail ones but rectangle section not round section. Can’t remember exactly, but I think it was about the same price as the Pro (which I’d never heard of). I have the multi cam 3.5 by 3.5 and I love it, I got it for my DD Frontline XL hammock, but used on its own to make a tent like structure, it is massive! You could sleep 6 or more people easily, for myself, it’s a mansion!🤣. I like the camo for in the woods, for stealth camping, it’s very effective, shame they don’t do the ultralights in camo, but they say the material won’t take the printing.
Anyway, I don’t think I would pay the extra for the Pro, I find the standard has all the attachments I need. The only extra ones I would like, would be on the inside of the tarp, in a couple of places so you could hand a lantern off it when using it as a tent.

Man I got mine years ago and they have metal button snaps that seem to be better then the buckles. Like who wants flappy buckles that you'll never use. At leave the snaps dont flap around. Love the vid 🤙🏼

I guess the buckles are more secure but have not really found much use for them. Pro version is overpriced in my view. Thanks for the comment

For me , I'll stick with my Aqua Quest Defender, especially at that price, other than that it was a most informative video.

The Defender is best in my opinion but it weighs a ton and is large I have the Defender 10 * 13 for Gorilla proof adventures. For long distances and fast travel I would use something lighter. The right equipment for the right job there is no 1 perfect equipment for everything.

What I love the most about the defender is simply that the tarp feels more durable or is at least a lot quieter than DD. I dislike noisy tarps.

    Great video thanks
I was going to upgrade but like you say only the two extra time out points are what I was actually wanting I may as well have two sawn on with a small and backing and a dab of seam sealer job done
    🙏

Not one of my best but glad it helped you. Yes the two extra tie outs are great and in my opinion the only upgrade that the DD tarps need for most users 👍

The tarp PRO olive green has another genre of buckles, which I prefer

I brought the pro version too. I might cut off the male and female buckles to save a bit of weight. The Velcro bit might be handy as will the 2 extra tie outs. Better pegs would have been nice. The big white patch on the bag is worse than the green peg bag. Worth the extra money? Can't say yet. Nice vid keep 'em coming.

That tarp can be used with hammacks with the male and female connections once it has been suspended above the hammack

On about the peg bag your well in your rights to a mc peg bag you'd expect uniformity I would of like the mc instead of the all green type but there again I've got O,C,D great video tho well done on your experience of set up

I didn’t even know about the pro version. I have the standard dd 3x3 green for about 5 years now, still serving me well. The pro version should have better stakes and a camo stake bag.

I ordered basic 3x3, but it was sold out, so seller offered me this pro version. He sad, that this pro version is better than basic 3x3. As same as you, I don´t know why are there male and female buckles. I tought, that, there are some buttons. I was dissapointed. I payed 20€ more for pro version and at the first I cut this useless buckles.

Buckles are to connect an additional pro tarp. Like you not found the buckles to be of any use and feel mugged off with the pro version. Although the 2 additional tie off points are most welcome. I guess DD are trying to provide added value to justify the higher price. Their standard range is absolutely fine for most of us. Thanks for sharing your experience 👍

I'd be happy with the two additional tie-off points on my standard 3x3. Everything else is unnecessary.

I've got the older version with poppers instead of buckles. The poppers/buckles do allow a nice enclosed hammock shelter, closed off at one end. You can see it here th-cam.com/video/F9GZlShwxoE/w-d-xo.html I rarely use the velcro cordage ties or metal grommets, but always use those extra tie out points which make the world of difference for maximising internal space in some setups, like a plough point or 'adirondack' th-cam.com/video/hrUqHyRodps/w-d-xo.html I have a superlight tarp for when weight/pack size is an issue, and this when I want more options. It's been worth the money for me, definitely. Cheers, for posting! Rich

Thanks for the input. Have used it a couple of times and am 100% with you I’m the tie out points. I need to use it a little more to find a way to get more out of the other features. Will check out your recommendations 👍

@@InfoZhedExplore No prob. I do think it could come with more/better pegs and cordage for the price - perhaps even a 15m ridgeline.

Bit to pricey Bob for what it is

I really like the camo but also think the Pro version is a little expensive but it’s still a great tarp. I’m hoping that by using it I will find some uses for the extra features.
