My first car was a 62 Galaxie 500 with a 352 and 3 on the tree manual steering and brakes, it was a freeway crash survivor 2 door hardtop, with half a grill and 1 headlight on the right side. It was a fun car for an 18 year old going to college.
Car looks great. I rarely see a 62 Ford anything at a car show, and almost never 4 doors. I have 4 door 64 galaxie and have taken it to quite a few shows and never seen another one like it in person, seen plenty of 2 doors though. Funny, I have a 2 door 64 500XL and the 4 door gets way more people asking about it and it's not as nice of a car either.
People discard the 352. Because they don't know. It has a thick cylinder wall casting. Easily converted into 410 . That runs hard & kicks ass.. FoMoCo..
My 352 had cylinders as thin as .089" in a few spots. Couldn't even safely overbore it .030" let alone .050" like I wanted to make a standard bore 390 out of it. If cylinder 4 hadn't been scored to shit I would have just dingleball honed it and put it back together it ran really strong for what it was. The 1966 390 block I bought for a replacement was thicker everywhere than that May 18 64 cast 352 was.
