Hello, checking in about a year later and wondering how the product works long-term. Has it had any significant issues? Also, where would I find this product?
the lights in my 2001 4Runner stereo haven't worked in years. Replacing it was on the to-do list, but never happened and now that's at the bottom of the list since we keep saying we're getting something new. I love having a CD player though. And I don't have a data plan on my phone so many of those features I can't even use and I don't want to give Hubs another reason to drive my truck more LOL
Hi! I have a 2006 Tacoma. I have bought two of these radios now and neither of the white plugs on them fit the plugs in my truck. I see that yo have 4 plugs including the clock/hazard plug. I only have three total. And I do have steering wheel controls. Do you have any idea why none of these radios fit my truck? Any help would be great please. Thanks.
If you're buying one that's specific to your truck and it doesn't fit, take it up with the seller. It might be that you need a different harness to make your steering controls work but it's their job to get it sorted out for you
@@CanadianGearhead Ok I will try. I went to a local car audio store and found a plug that fit my trucks plug. I wires the red, black and yellow into the radio wires and I got the screen to come on and work. But I can not get any sound. The steering controls work sort of. The Mode button works and the volume works but not the station select buttons. This is insane. Thanks!
Hey there! I know this was a year ago but did you have any problems with the sound becoming static the louder you turned the volume up? Or was the sound clear even at high volumes?
My Tacoma has 4 cords connected to the back of the stereo! :( I tired plugging a new Radio but could not connect it because of the fourth cord. It looks like majority of these videos I see only have three cords behind the stereo
The current ones? I like them. 3rd Gen Tacomas are nice but I'm not a fan of the drivetrain. 5th gen 4runners are great but I think I'd miss having the V8. My buddy has a brand new army green TRD Pro Tundra and I'm 100% in love with it
@@CanadianGearhead Thank you for the reply. However I came to find out that my 06 Tacoma Prerunner needs a different wiring harness to accommodate the JBL stereo. Axto-TY1 from Axxess is what I use for the after market double din stereo which features android auto and Apple car play. It works great.
nooo that can lead to the swirl marks you see in your paint, not to mention regular scratches. i don't even use brushes on my truck, used to detail and learned from others' mistakes hahaha
Lots of people asking where to buy this head unit - you can get it on Aliexpress here: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003746971644.html
Do the steering wheel buttons still work with the new radio?
Great rundown, looks like these units are still available. How has it held up after 2 years, any issues with newer phones?
Yes let us know how well it works over time. I installed the same pioneer you have in my 4Runner because of your pioneer installation video.
Awesome, how do you like yours?
@@CanadianGearhead I love it. I also installed new speakers. It really makes a vehicle feel new again! Will never drive w/o Apple Car Play ever again.
Are you able to turn off the sound it makes when tapping on the display?
Does this affect the volume of the speakers at all???? I have a 2010 with the old JBL radio and it’s very loud and I’d like to keep it way
How is the sound, does it have an equalizer?
Do you keep the same color of panel instruments, like orenge in the new , I mean screen ? Thanks
How the heck did you run the usb through the glove box, I can’t find any opening
Hello, checking in about a year later and wondering how the product works long-term. Has it had any significant issues? Also, where would I find this product?
It's been working great, no real complaints so far. You can find it on Aliexpress: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003746971644.html
Bro mine only has 2 cables to radio why ??? 2006 tacomita
you probably don't have steering wheel controls. the 3rd wire is for that. @@Tacomas_shop
How dim can you make the display?

If you have music saved on your phone I believe you can play it through bluetooth without using data
how in the world do you get to the middle screw to remove the flasher and clock part??
How bright is it when driving at night? I had a similar one but it was super bright when I drove at night.
does it beep everytime you touch the screen or can you turn that off in the settings?
Will you be doing an update on the performance of the unit? A reply here is more than sufficient as well.
I'll have a comparison to the Pioneer unit in my 4runner coming soon!

Will this fit on my 2015 Toyota Tacoma?
Please I need help! I don’t know how to connect my phone to apple carplay!
do you know if the installation would be the same on a 2008 2wd
It should be
How much and did you have to buy any wiring harness or is plug and play.
It was plug and play
Hello, one question, what radio model is it, where can I buy it?
??
I responded to your email a while ago
let me know please
Does the apple CarPlay work as well?
Yup and it's wireless
Hey there! I know this was a year ago but did you have any problems with the sound becoming static the louder you turned the volume up? Or was the sound clear even at high volumes?
No issues here, the sound is improved despite the OEM speakers
So does it support back up camera with the factory camera?
I believe it does but I don't have one so I can't confirm
link to the radio?

Does yours have JBL audio? You might need a different harness for that
@@CanadianGearhead i do not
Should I return the radio? I own a 2011 Sr5 Tacoma
How is the Apple car play on this ? Is it wireless? Also do happen to have a promo code?
It's pretty good, it cuts out every once in a while but I need to update it. Carplay is wireless. Sorry I don't have a code for this one

Would you suggest to buy this product?
The website says "this car stereo doesn't fit cars with JBL audio system" but yours look like it was JBL. Does this indeed fit? Thank you in advance!
Mine actually doesn't have JBL so I'm not sure
That's cool would it work with the jbl system?
It should be possible, just a matter of making sure you have the right harness
do you know what model this headunit is or how much ram it has?
You can find it here: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003746971644.html
Did you take the negative off the car battery for this install or was it not needed for this head unit?
I didn't bother but it doesn't hurt to disconnect it to be safe
Wow that is nice bro!!! Great job. Lucky wifey. Looking forward to see more taco stuff.

What are your thoughts on the new gen Tacoma/Tundra/4Runner??

Which wiring harness did you use for this?
It came with everything to plug right in

The bluetooth mic that I forgot to plug in 😳
@@CanadianGearhead oh my
Did anyone else have trouble charging there phone through the usb cables they provide with the stereo

Wifi doesn't work with the unit
This head unit updated wireless android auto, won't need cable to work with android phone.
Where do we buy this head unit!! I want one.

Does it work with factory backup cam?
I would think so, it has a video port
