I have loved this Tom Petty tune for many, many years. It's a testament to what can happen when you go from a major chord to a minor chord. That's not an effort to trivialize some pop music formula. It's an attempt to call out what that thing is in Western music that brings us all to the point of tears. So immensely powerful, and so underhandedly simple. This is what that song from "Grease", "Magic Changes", is about. Tens of thousands of examples, all through doo-wop and early 60s pop and right on into Meghan Trainor. Ahhh... the beautiful Masonic Temple auditorium in AVL. I'd recognize it anywhere! Has a such big "A Midsummer Night's Dream" vibe! Such a wonderful choice of site for this beautiful song.

Tom would be happy about this cover I think. Such harmonizing, it's like a river of emotion.
