    I looked in my attic above my garage and I don’t have 2x4s up there it looks like I have 2x12s not sure how I do this same method in my garage. Any suggestions ? 😩

    I just bought a 70lbs bag. Do u suggest doing all this for this bag? I was just planning on going into the joist.

      It works well.

    So, I previously had a 100lb heavy bag hung on our ceiling with just a 2x4 screwed to 2 separate joists with the heavy bag hanging from the center of it, and it shook our whole house. 😂 If I do it this way, will it stop that from happening?

      th-cam.com/video/-rAS58V_4aI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TK7KkAqruigom1ou This is how I did it originally. Shook the whole house. 😂 Also, disclaimer, that's not me in the video.

    Do you still use this setup? If yes, Does this setup make shaking (roof) noise when punching the bag?

      I used it for along time without any issues. I sold that house and moved so I don’t use it anymore. The new owner purchased the bag from me because he wanted it. It just added value to the house!

    You did what a lot of posters do. You skipped a lot of steps, both visually and explanation wise. Probably you assumed everyone perfectly understands what you are doing or what you mean because you do! Try again.

    Shouts out to this guy for a well demonstrated process! Looks like it could easily hold about 5 of those bags. Thanks

    How has it held up so far? I have a 100lb heavy bag I'm going to mount soon but as a new homeowner I'm a little hesitant to mount it to the ceiling. This does look like the best way and is similar to what I had in mind

      U must be like my other me because I have the same exact question I just bought a 100lb bag I'm a new homeowner myself but like u I'm hesitant aswell of fear of bringing down the ceiling. And not to mention my name is Chris aswell lol

    Why use multiple washers inside the attic? Great video but I would use a lock nut so the nut would not vibrate loose and permenit locktight.

    How can I prevent my heavy bag from swinging easily?

    • @DrDavidL
      @DrDavidL  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can buy a bag that has a ring on the bottom and anchor it. I could have had one put on the bottom of my Outslayer bag (they offer this free of charge if you buy one of their bags). I think that if your heavy bag is light then it will tend to swing a lot. My bag weights 120 pounds and it doesn't move much at all. I used to have a lighter bag that swung all over the place. Also - I think the spring make a big difference.

    would definitely use screws over nails.

    • @DrDavidL
      @DrDavidL  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Screws snap and break.... nails bend.. Nails are much better... that’s one of the reasons houses are mostly made with nails and not screws.

      @@brandona.deimel5155 Don't think a nail holding a 2 by four to another piece of wood and a screw holding a punching bag are under the same forces. I installed ones with screws. My kids best the crap out of it, and it's holding up fine. Each to their own.

    • @DrDavidL
      @DrDavidL  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't agree - Nails are sturdy, bend, and don't break easily. That's why houses are made out of nails and not screws. @@coleoshtamebaghe3606
