Vortex is one of those company's that listen to the feedback, good or bad to improve their products and their scope covers are no different. They are excellent quality at affordable price.
Smart design, I am just getting into long range shooting, well when zero my Savage 10 FCP-SR 24" 308 it will be the first time I have shot a bolt action. I bought a Vortex Viper HST 6-24x50mm for it, its what I could afford, seems to but be a nice scope, I will have to grab a set of these for it. I also used their precision matched rings
Thank you for a clear, concise & straight to the point video that even I can understand. They look the DUCKS NUTS and I'm so tempted it just depends whether my pension will allow. Thanks once again and take care my friend 👍😷👍
Good revue, and I emailed Vortex with my scope part number, within a day they got back to me with the correct flip cap numbers. which I have ordered. The Butler Creek might have been the only thing around years ago, but I would never buy any more of their caps.
The only problem with the pst with the illuminated reticle and focus ring on the eye piece is you can’t adjust the focus with the cap on and the sleeve of the cap hits the illuminated reticle knob on the side of the eye piece before it is fully seated
Vaneater yea that’s with the Gen 1 pst scope with the knob on the side of the eyepiece. The PST Gen 2 knob is on the left side of the scope adjacent to the elevation knob. It’s combined with the parallax adjustment.
The Vortex flip up caps do not quite cover the mm range they claim. I had several scopes that if the measurement is within 2-3mm of the either the high or low end of their range did not work. On the small end they would fall off, on the big end the cap had trouble closing, had to snack it a couple times to get ti to lock. That ring on the inside is a harder plastic that you have to install, a couple of the caps didn't have the rings and a couple had already been installed, perhaps someone else had already returned them? If Vortex listens then they need to make some overlapping sizes. Didn't work for me.
How much clearance do you have between the objective bell and barrel? 1/4 or 1/2 inch there . Trying to figure out if mine when I get them , will clear my barrel decently , thanks
Thanks for the awesome demo/review! Butler Creek is crap and Im having the same problem you have and a similar scope Athlon Cronus BTR. Thanks again! Im gonna pick up a set of those defenders!
For the Razor HD II, the image focus and parallax correction is made with the left turret not the eyepiece reticle. Reticle focus, which should only need to be done once, is with the eyepiece ring. So using the eyepiece cap should be fine until your eyes change over time and the need arises to adjust your reticle focus.
I have these on my Gen II Razor and I'm not impressed. If I push the tab to open the objective cover, the cap just pushes off the end of the scope. The cap on the eye piece is always moving and has screwed up my parallax setting more than once. I'm not a fan and am thinking about purchasing the Aadland Scope Caps to replace them.
Vortex popular bell sizes are 50mm and 56mm. If I was you I'd get a smaller size. The 56mm has enough stretch that is would probably work, but just to be safe I'd go smaller. What is actually 56mm is the cap. The rubber backing that slides over the scope is really undersized so it will not move at all on the scope once you put it on. I don't know if you live near a local dicks sporting goods but my local store is carrying all vortex and they have a good selection in my home town. The packaging is made that you can pop it open before you buy. Maybe bring the scope in or take measurements and double check at the store itself. Sometimes ordering you never know. I also believe in vortex website they have a sizing chart. All you need is a 50mm objective, same as the pst's
Like the Flip Forward lid so if you have a venom on top of the scope ring or any red dot, it is out of the way to use both.

great review man, gave me all the info I needed to pull the trigger on buying a pair. cheers.

Christopher Duenas yeah
I ran into the same issue with larger objective butler creek
Good review. Does the objective cover go flat as well?

Do VORTEX scope cap have any size that will fit with LEUPOLD vx 3i -(3.5 10x40mm) scope? For eye and objective
Question for the eye piece side I’m assuming to change the magnification on the eye piece you have to take cover off?
That would just be for the eyepiece focus :) most of vortex scope magnification changes are further up at that bulge.
I have a vortex venom 5-25x56. Wondering what size do I need? Thanks!
Thanks for the awesome demo/review! Butler Creek is crap and Im having the same problem you have and a similar scope Athlon Cronus BTR. Thanks again! Im gonna pick up a set of those defenders!
The only downside to these is you lose the ability to use your fine parallax adjustment on the eyepiece.

Hi, i have vortex razor hd gen ll 4.5-27x56 , which size you recommend? Thanks
Thank you, video well made and informative. Shoot lots and stay safe.

Same
Would these work on an adjustable objective? Can you still access the front focusing ring with it on?
No you can't I had to send mine back
Does the eyepiece cap still allow you to use the fast focus dial?
would like to know this as well
Brian Strohm apparently the fast focus dial only needs to be set once. I've never had any issues after putting the flipcaps on.
Yeah I bought a S & B 5-25×56 pm 2 for $4000 AND got a pair of shit butler creek caps in the box..... objective cap lasted a few hour on the ground!
That eyepiece looks loosey goosey
Not sure what video you watched, but they both went on with plenty of resistance from falling off. Neither are loose.
Will these fit on an XTR II 5-25X50?

Thanks! I actually live across the street from one. I'll swing by
Nick D. There is a Big gap between butler creek and tenebrex. These are not far from tenebrex but closer to the butler creek prices!
Well, I'll take that any day!
